What Disney Snack Do You Wish You Never Bought (and Ate)?

I was disappointed in the school bread. I thought it was very bland despite the coconut on top. Maybe you have to be a huge vanilla fan???

I never got a turkey leg at WDW, but I had one at a Ren Faire and it was disgusting beyond belief. All veiny and sinewy, and the meat was as pink as ham. I gagged.

I never got anything remotely decent at the Pop food court, either. After reading so many rave reviews about it, I was sorely disappointed in everything my DH and I got, including the tie dye cheesecake. We ate there twice over the course of a week and tried 4 different meals total. The only decent thing I got was a pumpkin pie drink at the bar.

The turkey legs in DHS. I was alone with my 7 and 13 year old boys that day while DH took DD to AK, and I promised them they could have one. They were so gross....fatty and chewy. DS13 did Ok with his, but DS7 and i shared one and we both felt sick afterward. Never again. Not to mention the 25 minutes it took standing there waiting for it after we ordered! Totally not worth it!!!

The cream cheese filled soft pretzel. It ended up in the trashcan. I guess I'm spoiled by Auntie Anne's pretzels.

So hard to compete with Auntie Anne's! No one else even comes close to their cinnamon pretzels! Yum!!!

I didn't get a lot of snacks last time we were there. But I am going to try a lot more this time! This thread will help me decide what to try!

Agree with the rice krispie treats. Maybe if you get one that is fresh it is better? Not a fan of the zebra domes either. Had a strawberry cupcake in the Contempo café that looked so yummy but was dry and I couldn't eat it. (The one at BOG is really good.) The rest of my family love the Dole Whips, I think they are just OK but I have to get the swirl with vanilla not just pineapple. I like the school bread- I think most expect it to be more like a doughnut and less like a filled sweet roll. And I do like the sweet cream pretzels and Kaki Gori sno cones.

It's a sweet roll filled with a vanilla custard and topped with coconut. You buy it at the bakery in Norway at Epcot and it is very yummy IMO.

I really love the school bread too. I was worried that I wouldn't like it, so I was pleasantly surprised! It's a little messy to share without a fork though!

I love Dole Whips as well. I love soft-serve more than regular ice cream, and pineapple is a pretty rare flavor!

The snack I really didn't like was the Green Tea ice cream in China. I also was underwhelmed by the Red Velvet Cupcake at Starring Rolls.

Those frosted character cookies and look so cute that are wrapped in plastic wrap. Taste like cardboard. Or what I imagine cardboard to taste like.[/QUOTE]

These were awful! I brought them back for my kids in November. They looked so good, but they were hard as a brick. The icing would nearly crack your teeth! The cookie part was yucky too - my dog wouldn't even eat it!

That was $20 thrown in the garbage!

Zebra domes...they weren't terrible.....just meh. After reading all the reviews when they first came out I just built it up so much in my own head:sad2:

Zebra domes for me too!

They changed the School Bread a few years ago. It used to be fluffier and about 30% bigger. I still like it, but not as much as before....I wonder why they changed it at all? If you've never had one, it is more like a bread roll than a cake or donut, even though it LOOKS more like the latter.

I agree the rice Krispy treats in the food courts, etc are somewhere between just edible and the pre-packaged ones from the grocery (yuck!). But the ones from the circus tents in MK are really good.

I got the character cookies for my children once as a treat.. Worst mistake ever! They couldn't even bite into them so my happy, excited children turned into disappointed children. Have to give it to them they didn't whine about it (they were 4 and 2 at the time, boy wasn't even 6 mo so he didn't get any..the baby wasn't even a thought in my mind) they just threw them out. I felt so bad about it though, especially since they didn't get upset about it, that I got them a Mickey ice cream to share. Much better of a snack :)

The pretzel in Germany. Not sure whether the pretzels were just hard and stale that night or whether German pretzels are just that way. Even asked for a different one, which the cast member happily gave me, but it was the same. It went straight into the trash can and I walked to the USA and got a soft pretzel.

I finally tried the Turkey Leg a few years back and then remembered why I don't like Turkey Legs at Thanksgiving..too many tendons and I felt like a barbarian trying to get to all the meat.
Oh I didn't like the Dole Whips.... too tart. I've got to try the orange kind (at least I THINK there is an orange kind).
But that said... I ADORE School/Skol Bread and almost every snack in Japan (minus the wasabi peas) ESPECIALLY the Kaki Gori.

Finally got my first Dole Whip this past December. My sister got vanilla soft serve with hers , but I went traditional and got the pineapple soft serve. I was so disappointed! It was artificially flavored pineapple, not the real pineapple with bits of the fruit in that I was expecting. Nasty! But I had a taste of my sister's with the vanilla and pineapple juice and it was delicious. So, next time I go I'll know to get vanilla.

The candied strawberries at either F&W or F&G. I thought I was going to break a tooth!

2 things: the butterfinger cupcake at Starring Rolls at DHS. It sure LOOKED pretty, but the cupcake itself was dry, and it was just overly sweet, and just gross.

Also, the Goofy's sweet and sour candies shaped like the fab 5. I was expecting candy that tasted like sweet tarts, but OH MY GOSH, that was the NASTIEST candy I've ever had. DH had a couple and threw the entire bag away. :crazy2:

Although in defense of the school bread, it used to be a lot better. When I first had it back in 2008, it WAS really good. The next few trips after that, it just seemed to decline. Bread was drier, stiffer, less sweet. Haven't had it in the past couple trips.

To the bold: I 100% AGREE. I, too, thought they'd be like sweet tarts but they were DISGUSTING.

Zebra Domes and School Bread. So not worth the money or all the hype. YUCK!

Oh, you are killing me on both accounts - my 2 most favorite treats in WDW! Last trip, we were at AKL, and I grabbed a beer and a pack of ZD from Mara and sat outside, alone, and went to town. YUM!

Chocolate covered frozen banana. Love all of the items separately. Combined - I tossed it in the first trash bin that I passed.

I cannot do the texture of a frozen banana. It hurts my teeth!!

Another vote for cream cheese pretzel - gahh! ick. I remember it being neither sweet nor savory, just gahh!

Also a downer - carrot cake cookie. It's just plain carroty cake - no nuts, no pineapple.

a pleasant surprise: peach cobbler from CHH. Wasn't in the mood for it, and I'm sure they're made 1000 at a time. But, it tasted like sunshine - delish!

The carrot cake cookie BLEW!

Besides that, the only other treat I have thrown out is the Mango Gingerita from China. Most gawd-awful drink I have ever had. We passed it around our little group of friends as a "this is so awful...you HAVE to try it!!"....all 6 or 7 of us agreed. It is actually still a running joke. Blech

I used a snack credit for a fried snickers at DTD. It was awful.

I have to go with the school bread. The bread potion was so hard I couldn't eat it .... The filling was pretty good though.
