What Disney Snack Do You Wish You Never Bought (and Ate)?

Mine was a drink in Epcot - at the Japan Pavillion they used to have a Frozen drink with Ginger and Vodka in it - the ginger was so overpowering I had to toss it 1/2 way through.

Sounds like my above horrid drinks - but it was China. Blech.

Lefse in Norway. Blech.

Dole whip. Yup, bitter. Pineapple is very bitter to me, but at least I tried it.

Not wdw but butterbeer.

The gingerbread shingles at GF at Christmas. Went right in the trash after one bite. So gross.

Oh Lefse is one of my FAV snacks -at WDW and at home. So good!!

A churro I got in Adventureland. I love churros. I did NOT love this churro. It was like a mouth full of sugary grease. Vile.

The big chocolate chip cookie at the food courts by the registers. That thing was like as hard as a hockey puck!! I am also a turkey leg hater.

Tried the famous Carrot Cake Cookie this summer - yeah, NOT good. The only cupcakes I like are at BOG...the rest are frosted with that cheap sugar and grease frosting-not buttercream at all : (

I like Dole Whip swirled with vanilla...but it's nothing special. Our Orange Leaf FroYo shop has it all the time. (Sometimes orange and even raspberry too!)

The only place I know of for a good rice krispie treat is the Karmel Kitchen in Germany. Fresh block style covered with chocolate and carmel drizzle-Yum!

I guess I'm one of the few who actually like the cinnamon roll at Gastons : ) It is not described there as maple-frosted ??? I hate maple and did not taste it at all??? I had one years ago at MSB and it was stale...

RE: Dole Whip and bitterness...

I think I know why some people find them delicious and some think they are bitter.

I used to love them and loved the floats too. But there always seemed to be something funky about pineapple...I didn't know if it's just me but sometimes, out of the blue, even after eating some that tasted great, I'd get a bitter sensation too. I had a similar experience with that crazy weight watchers cake with crushed pineapple and white cake mix. The cake didn't bother me but one time I tried the batter and Yuck! It was like I ate a spoonful of shaving cream or something. It was terrible!
Anyway...around age 40, I developed asthma and a ton of allergies. When I was finally food allergy tested, I was surprised to learn that I am very VERY allergic to pineapple!

I learned that pineapple is frequently an undiagnosed allergy for a lot of people and is also responsible for a "bitter taste syndrome" that you can read about here:

http://m.wisegeek.com/what-are-the-signs-of-an-allergic-reaction-to-pineapple.htm

Wondering if anyone here thinks this could be responsible for your Dole Whip aversion.

And if you have other food allergies, be careful around those Dole Whips!

Zebra domes for me. I had read so many people raving about how great they were and I just thought they were gross.

I actually wasn't too impressed with the green tea colada at F&W.
Besides that... the pork shank from Gaston's - it's too fatty :snooty:

So...on our trip last August the things various members of our family ate and loved include school bread, the turkey leg, Dole whips, and zebra domes! ROFL - goes to show how everyone has different tastes.

The only treat I've ever thrown away was a rice krispie treat that I got at Goofy's Candy Co. I got it rolled in peanut butter cups, drizzled with chocolate, etc. and ended up just eating one ear of it. The treat itself was just blah and too hard/chewy - but all the stuff that I had piled onto it just made it over-the-top sickly sweet. It was a lose-lose!

Loving this thread.

I figure you guys have saved me about $85 and 3 pounds next month! I've crossed off quite a few items from my snack bucket list. And that's ok.

I also love the term "gingerbread shingles." Makes me think of a virus you could be carrying if you've already had gingerbread pox.

Wow! That is really interesting. I was reading these posts wondering how anyone could describe a dole whip as bitter. To me they are sickeningly sweet. This makes a lot of sense.

Same here. We all love them, but usually get one or two to share. An entire Dole Whip float is a heck of a lot of sweetness!

Actually, we use that approach to snacks a lot - the share approach. There are a number of things that I really like, but not sure if I'd want one all to myself: LeFou's Brew, Cinammon rolls at Gaston's, Dole Whip Floats, those giant cupcakes etc... I think they're all better if you get just enough to really enjoy but not so much that you're overwhelmed by the sweetness.:thumbsup2

Hmm, I can't agree with you there. I like the caramel popcorn (without nuts) and I always buy a bag or two when I go in the stores. I had a cupcake from the POFQ food court that wasn't great. I thought the corn dog nuggets from Casey's Corner would be better than they were. Also, the funnel cake I got in AK might've been ok if it wasn't such a HUGE serving. Way too much for one person.
now I hate Carmel popcorn normally the popcorn in Germany was so good and buttery I went back and brought a bunch home in a ziplock. I froze it and at a bit for a year!

ok what the heck was that drink in china? I remember one that was so awful. I tried to drink it because they cost 9.00 but I couldn't do it... Yuck

I wish I had tried the caramel popcorn n Germany then. I got some over in Big Top Treats and it tasted terribly stale. What a waste of $. The loved turkey leg of so many was a bust for DH. He was so looking forward to it for three years and said, never again. Too sinewy and difficult to eat. The kids didn't bother finishing their Mickey chocolate covered Rice Krispie treats.

The chocolate/caramel covered pineapple spear was a total impulse buy and delicious. DH and I also liked the School Bread, but from reading reviews, we knew that it wouldn't be as sweet as it appears.

This is something I'd like to try (I'm a dole whip lover), where do I find them?
