What Disney Guide book do you recommend?

Love love love my Passporter!

The unofficicial guide has a guide out every year and I have found it very helpful. It covers pretty much everything.

I like PassPorters and I don't rememeber the the name of the other one by foder something like that for WDW with kids.

me too!!!

A couple of days ago, I did a poll on this Board re: which of the big three was better (Unofficial, Birnbaum, or Passporter). The Unofficial guide had more votes than the other two combined. Its also what I voted for. I do like the Passporter as well. Birnbaum offers no criticism of the Parks as its sponsored by Disney so I find it a waste, although the photos are nice.

I like the Unofficial Guide because it tells statistics on number of visitors to the parks at different times and has real opinions from readers on what hotels to stay at and all that. I found it to be the most informative though I do own Birnbaum's and The Cheapskate's Guide.
Birnbaum's has nice pictures though if you have a child who is looking at the book too.

I love my Passporter! I won't go to Disney without it!

Love Unofficial Guide! You really have to be a "reader" for that one, though. It is pretty detailed. If you are looking for a quick read, Passporter is great. I agree that Birnbaum is in "Disney's Pocket"...they never have anything negative to say. If something is a waste of my time/money, I would at least like a head's up on it...then I can decide for myself.

Unofficial Guide vote here! disliked the passporter and found it too bulky, i just bought Fodors 2006 WDW with kids and i find it to be pretty outdated on some info. Just my opinion of course, but i just bought it last night and really could not get into it at all. I agree about the Offical guide just having pretty pictures and my 1yr old seems to like that :)

Not about the parks, but the official Dining Guide of 2006 is AWESOME!!! especially if you don't spend a bunch of time online and want to get info on the restaurants if you are on the dining plan! we love it!!

I bought the Unofficial Guide before my first trip to WDW back in 99. I read the entire thing. Found this board, read it everyday. Am I the only one who feels no need to buy a book when I have these boards to tell me everything the book says and more?

The Unofficial Guide is my favorite, but the Passporter has excellent, detailed maps of the parks that are really helpful.

well I bought all 3 of the big ones listed here and they all have thier merits. I like Birnbaums for the lovely colour pictures, but thats about it, gives you a nice feel for disney though. i would then read the Unofficial Guide to get a good touring philosophy going, and pick up all my need to know hints and tips, they really know what they're talking about. lastly I would put all that info together in a plan into my Passporter. I also like the reviews given in Passporter, so a combo of all 3 books works well for me. If I had to buy one, it would be Unofficial Guide.
Sorry for the rambling,
Claire xx
