What did you do w/ your wedding gown?

My mom had mine preserved while we were on our honeymoon, it is in the top of my closet. It's in a box inside another box that has a thick plastic window on it, I get it down occassionally when DD wants to see my "princess dress", looking through the plastic of the box, it's still white. I've never taken it out of the box though

It`s at my mum & dad`s` house all nice & clean ( mum had it cleaned straight after the wedding 15 years ago) it was with my sisters but after her divorce 3yrs back hers got put in the bin...(on request of course)

i love that dress... & to make me feel really better it is now to BIG...my niece made me try it on last year just before she got married... i threatened to wear it at her wedding:p :p :p

I bought mine on ebay, and sold it on ebay when I was done with it. I loved that dress, but won't need to wear it again. :)

I hope I can sell mine on e-bay.

Mine was preserved. Ex-H got it as part of our divorce settlement. Ex-H actually thought I would wear it again if I remarried.

When I did get remarried, I wore a non-traditional wedding dress. It's in our closet and has been worn many times after the wedding.

My dress ended up being a "princess dress" for my oldest dgrdd. It was so small that it fit it just when she was interested in dressing up. I realized that no one but me was going to be able to wear it so I just shortened it. Parts of it ended up in the head piece I made for my oldest dd when she got married. I am hopeful that maybe the head piece can be passed down.

Mine was cleaned and preserved in that great big box.

Two years later, after the divorce, I gave it away, unopened box and all to Goodwill.

The second one, a not very fancy ivory dress, is just hanging in my closet. It's been moved many times, no longer fits, but I can't bear to throw it away, even after 28 years.

My ex took a razor blade to mine and cut it to shreds.

Mine is in a box in my cupboard, all nicely cleaned & wrapped in blue paper.::yes::

Interesting stories here! My Mom took mine to be cleaned and preserved while I was on my Honeymoon. (I got ketchup on the front after a post-reception stop at the Burger King drive-through! :teeth: ) Anyhow, the cleaner she took it to had a bad fire shortly after she dropped it off. She was so afraid my dress had been destroyed and she would have to tell me! Fortunately my dress was fine. She asked to see it before it was boxed up to check for stains, etc. She said she didn't like how it looked the first time so she had them re-do it and it was better the second time. It is preserved in a window box in the back of DD's closet. She has aspirations of possibly wearing it some day, but I'm quite sure that she will be taller than I am!

My Mother cut up her wedding gown before my bridal shower and made me a beautiful purse to carry on my wedding day. It was a complete surprise to me! She was going to toss out the remainder of her gown, but I kept it. Maybe someday I can make my DS something to give his wife with it. DD will get that purse, of course!....................P

Preserved it until I got divorced, then I burned it.

I have no idea what happened to my wedding dress. I don't think it was ever preserved and it could be at my mom's, but I doubt it. I got divorced 6 years later, so it doesn't really matter, and I have a son, so it's not like he'd want to wear it.

My dress was preserved and placed in a keepsake box.

I still think my dress is beautiful and hope that someday someone in the family will want to wear it.

Had it preserved. Kept it at my parents' house for "safe keeping." :scared1: When we moved to FL, I envisioned possibly losing it in a hurricane. Ha! Left it at my parents' home. Six years later when my mom died, dad passed away prior to her, I couldn't find it any where!  I mentioned it to the lady who used to help my mom, and she said she would keep an eye out for it. Eventually, she found it. I contacted her a couple times about a friend of mine getting it from her and shipping it to me. She was fine with that. Somewhere along the line, she moved before that could happen.  So I never did get it.

I never was able to track her down.

So, even if your dress has been preserved....if it wasn't done or was done improperly your dress could be ruined.....

My best friend wore her wedding dress in 1969 and her sister wore it a few years later.

I'm not sure if they had it preserved or not but when it was time for one of the nieces to wear it two years ago it was not wearable. They tried everyone to see about fixing it to no avail.

In desperation and as a last ditch effort - they BLEACHED it in the washer. I don't know if I would have had the nerve to do that, but it turned out perfect. They sent it to the cleaners to be pressed after the bleaching.

I helped do the flowers and stuff for the wedding and saw the dress up close before the wedding and it looked perfect. She got the be a beautiful bride in the dress and her sister will be wearing it next year.
