What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

Still Day 19, September 1

Disney Wonder - Brunch at Palo

Once we had taken a photo with the chef and said goodbye to Monica after the cooking demonstartion we rushed back to our stateroom to change for our Brunch at Palo.

Needless to say we wanted to request Oliver as our server, but when we walked in, the Maitre d' greeted us and asked if we wanted to be seated in Oliver's section again! :goodvibes YES, please! He is fun and an awefully good server! :lmao:

We were then led to our table and greeted by Oliver, who asked if we were ready for our welcome drink, a Mimosa and he brought some water with a slice of lemon as well.

Then we were invited to a tour of the buffet! Well, this was the second time we had Brunch at Palo and we knew most of the items, but it was fun to watch Oliver explain the buffet.

Tom's plate! We both loved those little pieces of heaven!
Before we rolled out of there, Oliver asked where we were going to dinner this night. We told him that we were scheduled for Triton's and he asked what we thought if he made a little magic and we were to have dinner at Palo again.
You don't have to ask ME twice. About 2 minutes later we had an ADR for dinner at Palo! :rotfl2:

Next up - Disney Wonder - Wine Tasting Seminar and another liquid snack

Yummy update, The dessert buffet looks soooo amazing.
My husband just said lets skip going to Disney this year and go to 2 Caribean Island trip. Then he said price out the new Disney cruise ship and maybe we can go mid-year....:cool1:

Wow! That looks amazing!!!!! :cloud9: It's great that Oliver got you another dinner at Palo! :) Can't wait for more updates! I really enjoy your TRs!! popcorn::

Karin, I absolutely love the pictures of the brunch. That was my favorite meal of the trip. I can't believe I was able to eat the chicken parmesan after eating what was on the buffet. It was just so good you couldn't miss out, and there was no way I was going to skip dessert. Not with all that chocolate!!!! We really enjoyed it.

That brunch looks amazing! My mouth is watering... I love eggs florentine (and benedict...I love hollandaise!). And that dessert buffet is stunning. Also, how nice was Oliver to get you into Palo again? I love hearing about people's great experiences with service.

:thumbsup2 Right decision - steer away from the kiddos and get yourself to the grown up beach! :rotfl2:
Believe me, they aren't shy and you will receive a nice bill at the end of your cruise! :lmao: We put our CC down and it was all billed to it at the end of the cruise! ;)

I am glad you liked the links in the email - thought I had to share with you, as you are meeting HER this summer too!

We'll find out soon enough what "traditions" they will keep and which new ones they will add! But here's something to remember! READ your personal Navigator EVERY day! LOL - we learned the hard way - I read it when we were back home after our first cruise and found out that we had misses A LOT!!!

Ooh you can charge to your room from CC? Excellent, if not a little dangerous

I am going to start writing down questions we have so we can start researching soon, like basically what will we do on board etc Will defo read the PN as well when we get it too thanks :)

Palo Brunch, yummy yum yum, those desserts look so good and how cool is Oliver getting you an ADR for Palo that night :teeth:

I hope you get to go on that Disney cruise mid year! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

Palo is just such a neat restaurant and the Brunch is fantastic! :cloud9:

We loved how Oliver talked us into another dinner there - not that it was hard work for him! :rotfl2:

That was amazing, wasn't it? Next time you need to book dinner there too! It is just such a WONDERful restaurant! :lmao: I still can't get over how often they used the word WONDER on that cruise! :lmao:

It WAS wonderful! We were stunned last year by it and even though I knew what to expect it just blew me away again.
The two of should get along well - I just LOVE hollandaise! Can't wait for spring when the fresh asparagus is sold again - nothing better than a dinner of fresh green asparagus and hollandaise! :rotfl2: My kind of a Disney diet! :rotfl:

Oliver was a wonderful server and so much fun! He told us a lot about how they work different stations during their cruises and how he hopes to become an officer (in food and beverages) this year!
Oh, and we did NOT take a lot of persuasion to make us come back for dinner! ;)

What magic Oliver made for you! So cool...

He was a true Disney CM ....... spreading pixie dust everywhere! :lmao: ..... and squeezing lemons for you! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OMG Those buffet pix are just toooo mouth watering !!!!!

Rosie, you need to make sure that free cruise next year is at least one that is 4 nights - they only do the Brunch on days at sea!

Ooh you can charge to your room from CC? Excellent, if not a little dangerous

Palo Brunch, yummy yum yum, those desserts look so good and how cool is Oliver getting you an ADR for Palo that night :teeth:

They take your CC before you sail and it's on your room key just like at WDW! They do NOT take cash on the ships, not sure about CC! We paid for everything with our room key. You can deposit some money beforehand OR like us, we just had it charged to our CC after the cruise!
It's a bit hard to keep track, but who cares, you're on a cruise! :rotfl2:

Email me with your questions when you have some! I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge! ;)

It's such a shame you won't have Brunch on your 3 night cruise. On the other hand - here's a reason to go back! :lmao: :goodvibes

Still Day 19, September 1

Disney Wonder - Wine tasting and a liquid snack

After Brunch we rolled back to our stateroom and relaxed out on the verandah for a while. But not for very long as we had signed up for a Wine Tasting Seminar.

When we got to Parrot Cay the table was set with glasses full of yummy wine!

IMG_7149.jpg

They explained how to "taste" wine properly and then we started tasting. Tom guessed a lot of their wines/regions the came from correctly. Me not so much! Does that mean I need to drink MORE??? :scared1: :lmao:

IMG_7150.jpg

IMG_7151.jpg

The last glass was not filled ahead of time as it was champagne - and it was really yummy!!!

The sommeliers stayed for questions and photos afterwards.

Take a good look at the one in the middle, you'll hear about him in a later post!

DSC_0908.jpg

Here we all are.

Once the seminar was over we delivered the final round of FE gifts and then started to pack up our stuff. :sad1:

Here's our door with all its decorations.

IMG_7111.jpg

And some of our FE loot!

IMG_7152.jpg

Before the performance of Disney Dreams we strolled along the decks.

Before the show started we saw one of our other CM "friends", Ion, (they all recognized US!!! :scared1:) and walked over to chat and pick up a drink!

IMG_7163.jpg

A yum yum Pina Colada, which we enjoyed during the performance!

Next up - Disney Wonder - dinner at Palo

I got nervous b/c I saw your Food Review said completed but it was a past one. I'm reading your update and my son is next to me and saw the goodies on the bed (he asked if he goes on the cruise does he get those)

Hmmm so we need to figure out if we want to charge to room or add extra ship credit.

Any questions we have I will defo email you, you are my cruise inspiration and mentor :teeth:

This is a taster cruise to see if we like it (which I am sure we will) and I have a strong feeling that the next one will either be 7 nights or 4 nights

Looks like you had fun at your wine seminar, not a bad way to spend the afternoon :teeth:

Yes, lots of my old reviews are floating around again!
Had to  when you said that your son asked if he would get those goodies on a cruise. We had LOTS of people asking us HOW and WHY we got so many presents and that they were all jealous! :lmao:
If you go on a Disney Cruise - DO sign up for the Fish Extender exchange - it IS so much fun! :thumbsup2

Everyone charges to the room! Even if you get the extra credit you would use your room key.

I am pretty sure you are going to love cruising (if the weather holds up and you don't hit a hurricane!)! It's a shame you couldn't fit in the 4 night cruise - the day at sea is so fun and so relaxing! :cloud9:

The wine seminar was fun! We have been to a Martini Tasting in 2009 - can't wait for what the DREAM has to offer.
I updated my homepage and have put up the itinerary for our February and summer vacations! It feels so much more real, now that I actually HAVE "kind of" a plan! :lmao:

I guess it's easier that way, just gotta make sure you don't go too mad right :teeth:

I was thinking about what it would be like in September, fingers crossed we don't hit one. But DF says that they can spot them way ahead of time and just sail through a different course, or swap the days around for the different ports.

You guys are gonna have a fab time on the Dream, so can't wait to hear all about it :goodvibes

That brunch at Palo looks AMAZING. I can't even tell what most of the food is, but it just looks so scrumptious!

It's hard not to get too mad, but it CAN be done! :lmao:

Don't worry about going in September, Stefy. Dave is right, if there IS a storm they will change the itinerary and they can predict what it will be like long before the storm is actually there.
We got the remnants (spelling? sorry!!) of a storm during our second cruise and we were warned quite some time before that it would be choppy!
The worst that can happen is that they can't go to CC! :scared1: Now that would be horrible, but on the other hand, better safe than sorry!
We talked to a CM who lives on CC, while at CC and he told us that they had all be evacuated before a Hurricane! Forgot which storm it was! :sad2:

I will definitely let you know before you leave! Oh, and BTW - I LOVE the second ticker you have got! :bride:

The Brunch was wonderful! I cannot wait to book another one (or two ;)) for this summer! :woohoo:

Hi Karin, I love the picture of the promenade deck, we took a nap in lounge chairs during the day at sea after being stuffed from the Palo brunch. :cloud9:

Still Day 19, September 1

Disney Wonder - dinner at Palo

We really looked forward to that "extra" meal at Palo! We arrived on time, didn't even have to sign in as the Maitre D' was able to remember our name and we were soon led to a table and Oliver appeared!
After all the drinks we had tried and had out of our fridge we didn't want any drinks, so we just went with water with lemon.

And it did not take long for these goodies to be brought out!

IMG_7167.jpg

The Specialita' Del Palo: Antipasto Freddo, Prosciutto, Bresaola, Parmesan Reggiano, Marinated Olives and Sun-dried Tomatoes :cloud9:

IMG_7168.jpg

Palo's famous homemade dips, olive tapenade, aioli and roasted pepper & garlic - yum!!

IMG_7169.jpg

Pane Casalingo, freshly-baked Bread in their Pizza Oven, Grissini Sticks, Olive Rolls, Ciabatta Rolls and Six Grain Wholemeal

While we were sitting there, whom should we see, the Sommelier we had met during the Wine Tasting today! It was fun because he actually came over to our table for a little chat.

There was one more starter we both were dying to try - their famous pizzas!

IMG_7171.jpg

I ordered the Margherita, Tomato Sauce, Sliced Tomatoes, Mozzarella. Whilst it was really tasty I was surprised to find the base not to be homemade! The sauce however was really good, so were the tomatoes, very fragrant and top notch Mozzarella.

IMG_7173.jpg

Tom had the Pizza Al Gamberi, Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella, Shrimp, Asparagus and it did not only look good - it tasted really nice.

IMG_7174.jpg

Next up was the palate cleanser - lime sorbet!

IMG_7179.jpg

As my main course I chose the Lasagna with meat ragout, bechamel sauce, tomato sauce and sauteed mushrooms.
One of the best lasagnas I have ever eaten. Tasty ragout and velvety bechamel sauce between thin layers of pasta. The tomato sauce tasted of summer, so fresh and so much tomato flavour.

IMG_7181.jpg

Tom had chosen the Chicken Braciola
Baked Chicken Breast filled with Escarole, Raisins and Pine Nuts served with a light White Wine Sauce. Well, it was as yummy as it looked! Moist chicken and the sauce was out of this world!

We had a little chat with Oliver about the Chef that worked at Palo, as we thought he must have been Italian, to hit the flavours so spot on and what did he do? He brought the Chef out and we had a little chat with him as well.

We still had dessert to conquer! Now guess what we had .........

wait for it .........

wait for it .........

IMG_7183.jpg

IMG_7187.jpg

Yip we had the famous Chocolate Soufflé, with Vanilla Bean and Chocolate Sauce again! :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9:

Before we said our final goodbyes to Oliver we asked him if he was willing to take the rest of our FE sweets, that we had brought from Austria, back to his quarters to either have himself or share with his fellow CMs. We had a bag full left and I didn't want to carry them around any more and Oliver was more than happy to take them.

IMG_7189.jpg

Our final drink at Palo! Lemoncello with lime sorbet! Refreshing and uplifting!

We said goodbye to Oliver, the Sommelier, the Chef and the Maitre D' and went back to our room, changed into some other clothes and put our Palo clothes into our suitcase before we put them out in front of our door.

One last night on the Disney Wonder and then we would have to say goodbye to the ship!
Next up - Disney Wonder - breakfast at Triton's
