What did WE celebrate? .. 30 days of Disney fun and food! Update 04/02

I missed the start while I was away! I'm here now and all caught up! I love that the CM's remembered you at Wolfgang Puck Express

I just wanted to tell you that I am really enjoying your report. We are going on our first WDW trip in May and many of the places you have gone, we are planning to try.

Thanks!!

Was so happy to see another of your reviews. I love them. Can't wait to read more!!!

Karin! GUESS WHAT????? There's a WPE at the Mall of America. I have the SAME menu as DTD a mere 20 minutes from home!!! I'm so psyched!

Hi Karin

Your lunch at Pepper Market looked delicious :thumbsup2

So is it a CS restaurant or TS :confused3

We are back from the "World" as of Sat. evening and trying to adjust to the real world again. We truly loved Via Napoli! We ate there on Thursday. It was crowded and loud in there with the high ceiling. The pizza was wonderful, I got the pepperoni and Mick got the eggplant, artichoke, mushroom, and cheese pizza. I got the ricotta fritters with the chocolate and whipped creme ate all of it except one fritter for Mick to try. He got the cherry sundae with cookies. We ate everything, and did not have room to roam the food and wine booths later. I am glad I read your report before we left so I could add it to our list. I am catching up on your restaurant reports, looking forward to more. Thanks, Teresa.:)

Karin, if I'd had a SECOND drink when she told me this, I would have FALLEN off my chair. NOT do a live review? Are you NUTS? After I told her that everyone considers her the Food Porn Queen. I know where she works now....so there better be a LIVE review.

Two more days to go on my TR before I get to our week with the Food Porn Queen and ALL of our excitement. ;)

:thumbsup2 :lmao:

Only 2 more days of WDW? You need to come with us for a "little longer", like 30 days, so I can enjoy more of your fun adventures and hat photos! ;) :goodvibes
But then I am really looking forward to your Marco Island review and all of the fun with Nicki and Todd! :thumbsup2

I missed the start while I was away! I'm here now and all caught up! I love that the CM's remembered you at Wolfgang Puck Express

You are here now, that's all that counts! :goodvibes
Next time we go to WPE I better bring a copy of my reviews of their food - then they will NEVER forget me! :rotfl2:

It IS a CS restaurant, but you are shown to a table and they serve you the drinks, but you pick up your food at a counter. You get a little piece of paper which gets stamped at the different stations and then you take it to the cash desk.
The food was real yummy and we will definitely return!

Pepper Market is a counter service credit on the dining plan.

Thanks Kathy, for filling in for me while I was at work today! ;)

Hi Linda !!Where in England are you from????

I would like to know too!

Peppers Market is not somewhere we had considered but it does look good!

It never entered our minds to eat there before we stayed at CSR, and when we stayed there we never actually ate there, but we are glad we tried it! :thumbsup2

Welcome back, Teri!
That week sure went by fast - too fast! Did you like CBR? Which part were you in?
I am SO happy you loved Via Napoli and you are spot on on the noise. First time we went it was nearly empty and we didn't mind "that noise" too much, second time we went in the early afternoon and it was much fuller and MUCH louder!
So glad you liked the pizzas and the ricotta fritters are devine, aren't they? Did you like the chocolate sauce as much as I did?
Are you doing a trip report? I hope so! I am looking forward to it ....... just make it a little longer than the cruise report! ;)

Still Day 4, August 17

Dinner at the Turf Club

So, where did I leave off?
Yes, we were full and happy and made our way back to our villa, where we relaxed, were amazed by the Florida rainshower - aka, liquid sunshine, - aka, downpour! :lmao: and while chilling we decided that Mama Melrose just wasn't on the horizon as we didn't want to make our way through a crowded park, so we decided to cancel the internet and have a look at what wa still available - the Turf Club was.
We got an ADR for 6.30 and at 5.45 we drove over from OKW to

It took us a while to find the restaurant, but we finally made it there and picked up a buzzer. We walked around the grounds for a bit and after about 10 minutes our buzzer went off and we were led to a table.
It was a small table for two at the back of the restaurant and as you will see I made the wrong decision NOT to use a flash for all my food photos - so you are in for a crummy set of blurry photos - I do apologize!! :guilty:

First we were served some yummy bread with butter sprinkled with sea salt. It was slightly warm and really nice.
Our server returned only a few minutes later with our drinks, Diet Cokes! :rolleyes1

We both had a hard time deciding what to get, since there were several items that appealed to us but Tom finally decided on the Grilled New York Strip, topped with Crab Meat and Grain Mustard Sauce and Balsamic-Port Glaze served with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes. I tried a bite and the steak was very tender and a perfect medium. It went surprisingly well with the topping and Glaze and the mashed potatoes.
Needless to say he managed to finish it! :thumbsup2

In the end I decided on the Mint-crusted Lamb Chops with Honey-Mint Glaze and Dijon Mustard Sauce served with Smoked Gouda Polenta. How did it taste? Okay, I'll give you a hint .......

:cloud9:

Yes, it was that good! The lamb chops were cooked perfectly medium and the honey mint glaze really enhanced the flavour. I always love the creamy polenta at the California Grill, this one had a stronger flavour, but was creamy and very well seasoned and went perfectly well with the meat. I did finish my main course too! :rolleyes1

Since dessert was included in the DDP we decided that even though we were stuffed we would just "try" dessert.

IMG_5694.jpg

Tom tried the Individual Apple Pie, served warm with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. Even though it was nice, the bite I took reminded me of the apple crisp you get as a CS dessert at the Columbia Harbour House. I guess there is only so much you can do to an apple pie ....... :confused3
Don't get me wrong, it was good, just nothing special.

IMG_5693.jpg

Once I had read the menu I had my heart set on the Chocolate Espresso Torte with Raspberry Sauce and Vanilla-Port Wine Ice Cream. The chocolate torte was really good, with a strong dark chocolate taste, but it was HEAVY! I managed to eat about half of it! But the chocolate torte went wonderfully well with the raspberry sauce and the ice cream. Couldn't taste much port wine, but it was still nice.

Once we were done eating we walked outside and were stunned by the view of Downtown Disney. Needless to say we needed to stop and take some photos.

We needed to stock up on drinks, so we got into our car and drove over to

IMG_5703.jpg

for some shopping before we headed back to our villa and had an early night, as we wanted to experience our first Morning Extra Magic Hours the next day.

Price breakdown:
DDP - 24 credits to start with
Turf Club .... $ 75,50 (2 TS credits)
TS credits left - 18
CS credits left - 19
Snack credits left 20

Overall money spent on DDP: $ 323,50

Next up - lunch at Thypoon Tilly's

Great review, Karin. Turf Club looks really good (especially Tom's steak and your dessert!).

The food at the Turf Club looked good. We were going to eat there but I changed our ADR to Maya Grille at the Coronado Springs Resort. We love prime rib and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was quiet and the live guitar player was very romantic. We liked this resort after walking around it. We may try this one next visit. We noticed there were no lines at the bus stops for this resort, and everyone in the line for Caribbean Beach kept saying I want to stay at that resort the line has no one. We loved Caribbean Beach it is absolutely beautiful and quiet too, for such a large resort. We were given Martinique 2318 facing a smoking courtyard on the ground floor. Mick loved that so he could walk out and smoke his Sosa cigars. We were very close to the bus stop and pool, but a bit of a walk to the marketplace. We liked it much better than the loud Pop and All Star resorts. As you said the week went by so fast, I thought 8 nights was a good stay, but it was over before I knew it. We had a great time. Mick says to tell you hi and say hello to Thomas for us.

Thanks for sharing some new dining experiences! I find myself wanting to try the Turf Club now too!

By the way, I am very jealous... a month-long vacation is a rarity for Americans, sadly. You Europeans know how to do it right!

I was going to eat at Turf Club this past trip, but that's the night I ended up eating at La Hacienda instead. Can't say I'm sorry I ate there, but I am sorry I missed the Turf Club. Maybe next trip - I've heard their onion rings are the best on property, so I need to give those a try.
