I'm trying to finalize plans for Oct. so I can make my ressies but I wish I knew the schedule for MNSSHP and Spectro. How can people make plans and certain ps's when they will not release schedules until like 2 months before? This is very frustrating!

I'm thinking about going Oct. 25 (Sat.) - Nov. 2 (Sun.) but I'm worrying that since the day after Halloween is on a Saturday that they will not have Spectromagic. It would be really hard to arrive mid-week and leave mid-week because then dd's would miss 2 partial weeks of school instead of just one full week. I just think it would be easier on them to miss the one full week.

Then I thought that maybe if we got there early enough on Oct. 25 we'd get to see it that night but maybe we wouldn't get there on time and I'm not sure I want to waste a hopper day just to go to the parade.

I'd really like to start my trip on Oct. 2 so that I could get value rates but since we will only be there for 8 days or so that MNSSHP will not be scheduled yet.

What a mess. So I guess my question is this: Does anyone know if they will have Spectro on Sat. after Halloween? This parade is very important to us and I'm willing to schedule our entire vacation around this event.

I understand your pain !!

We're headed to WDW around that time, too, and were trying to decide on dates. We finally decided to arrive on 16 Oct and stay through 27 October . . . this encompasses two week-ends.

Hopefully (surely!!) we'll get an opportunity for both Spectro and MNSSHP !!

According to the dates you listed, there should definately be at least one MNSSHP being it's the week of Halloween.
As far as the Spectro Magic Parade, historically at that time of year, they're usually only held on Saturdays. I don't see why they wouldn't do it the Saturday after Halloween. But like you said, unfortunately they won't post the parade dates until probably August or even September.
As far as the dates for the MNSSHP, they would come out sooner.
If you decide to go in early Oct., you probably won't be able to catch the MNSSHP. I believe they usually start mid-Oct., from what I remember.
Good luck. I know it's frustrating with Disney not posting hours and events until right before you go.

Thanks everyone for reading my incredibly long post!! I managed to find the days they had MNSSHP in 2002 and it looks like it was never scheduled on a Saturday! The only thing that worries me is that they do usually hold it on the night after Halloween and that just happens to fall on Sat. this year. I wonder if they would not schedule it that night because of Spectromagic?

I'm a little limited on which weekend to be there because of a friend and her ds will be there with us for 4 days which include the weekend.

I suppose I could go the 11-19, maybe it would be less crowded. Last year's dates for MNSSHP were 11,17,20,25,27,31 and Nov. 1. We just thought it would be cool to be at WDW on Halloween. Not to mention it would be great to miss the trick or treating here in Iowa where it is usually freezing cold or raining!!!
