What companies do resales?

Thanks for the leads. So far I'm really sort of poed about the response.(not to the post, that has been good, with a good pm) Got an email late last night from one company about one I really wanted. I emailed back right away saying I was very interested, and hold it till I call this morning. Course, call, and the person hadn't looked at the email and sold it by phone first thing. Then, after getting one of the other sites, find a very similar thing. AFter 2 phones calls to get the company, call back and say 'sorry' we didn't update our list. That is sold.
Not seeing great customer service so far, particularly since I had told the first company once before if a property, like the one posted last night, and I didn't get, were to come up, I'd buy it.

There are lots of places to find contracts. Besides
The Timeshare store, atimeshares.com and Lee Reid's
site that are the "specialists". I used ERA Stroman
and have now bought 2 expensive timeshare through
them and had two other contacts that didn't go
through. I had a previous BW contract that DVC
bought back and a Paradise Village contract that
fell through because the seller owed more on it than
he agreed to sell it for and couldn't come up with
his part.

At ERA stroman, I worked mainly with Steve Scott
(800) 733-8846 x3149. I also worked earlier with
Jaunita Jones on the PV contract. Steve was willing
in all cases to make the low ball offers and it
seems to be candid with both the seller and buyer
from what I could tell. It is my belief that the
big 3, especially TSS and atimeshares seem to jack
up the price. I'm not saying that's wrong, just
that it's not in the buyers best interest.

I'd also look at Timeshare Users Group (TUG),
http://www.floridavip.com/central.htm (a FSBO site
specializing in FL), Century 21 in Kissimmee as well
as canvas the timeshare world in general. Try also
Www.timeshares.com and http://TIMESHARESDIRECT.com/ and
Sharon Eden at http://www.timesharesUSAresales.com/.
Also consider Shontell Crawford who was at TSS and
now on her own info@TimesharesByResale.com or toll free at 1-800-844-4099. The Timeshare Warehouse has some DVC inventory at http://www.Thetimesharewarehouse.com. And Lee Reid at http://www.disney-vacation-club-resales.com/.
Contact many, tell them what you want and how much
you are willing to pay and see what happens. Good
luck.

In addition to Dean's solid advice, call (don't email) several brokers and get on their call list. Let them know what you're looking for, what you're willing to offer and let them call you when something in that range comes in. Many resales never make the websites since they are sold as soon as they are offered by the seller.

Websites are always a challenge to update and keep current. Some realtors fail to remove listings, as you've found out and depend on buyers calling for outdated sales just to get their attention.

Another site to check out is Timesharing Today (www.tstoday), who publishes a monthly magazine with information of interest to timeshare owners in general. (Many DVC members don't realize/consider themselves timeshare owners!)

I have completed three purchases thru Pat Spell at The Timeshare Store and have had great experiences with each one.

Enjoy the process!

If you go through the timeshare store, do not deal with Jerry. We found him to be less than forthcomming. He seemed only interested in getting us to sign the contract, blowing off our questions about making the contract less attractive to Disney and then completely blowing us off. We inquired about the rofr status every week after it had been in for 2 weeks. He never checked on it and only when I spoke with Pat, did she make a call and find Disney had taken the contract 2 weeks before.

While I try to avoid "Dumping" on these boards, I would think LONG and hard before dealing with Lou Reid. If you think your current service responses have not been up to par...... I have tried to work with him twice and it was horrible both times.

My suggestion is to get on Shontell's email listing and call her IMMEDIATELY if something you want passes by. I did and got it. (She knew what I was looking for, but she was not aware I would take a new use year so had not contacted me on this one!)
