What color was your baby's nursery?

My husband and I don't have children yet, but were discussing this topic the other day.

I like gender specific colors, yes even for a nursery. My husband wants to paint the nursery yellow if we have a girl. I find yellow to be too netural. (Yellow could be for either sex, but I guess it depends on the shade.) For me it's, blue, green, etc. for boy, and pink, purple for girl. (We've also talked about leaving the walls white and display some type of nursey themed decals.)

What color did you decide on, and why did you pick it?

Thanks,
Michelle

I painted it what I thought was a very pale green..It could have gone either way. It came out looking more blue...so it was a good thing we had a boy!

Well both of my kids rooms were yellow! One boy and one girl!
But I must yellow is my favorite color! It is so cheery!
My entire living area is a pale yellow! LOL!!
Anyway, in my daughters room we did yellow and white stripes, big wide stripes and it was so pretty!!

Good luck!:sunny:

Hi Michelle ~ We went with a pale yellowish color ... depending on the light. We scraped the stickly stuff off the ceiling and painted clouds (and hidden mickey's in each corner). Also, we put up a light green circus print border. The light green is our "color" for the rest of the room ( bedding and such).

The reason we chose this color ... LOL ... is our aunt that helped us scrape the ceiling brought over her left over paint from a room she had painted. FREE is really good thing!!! :teeth:

Good luck with whatever you guys decide when the time arises!

Ours (for both) was mint green and peach. The theme was "Yippee Coyote". It was a set that I saw at Penney's and registered for it at a local baby shop. I still have yet to part with that bedding set. It is so cute and in excellent condition. Here is a link on Ebay if you want to see how cute it is: Yippee Coyote

Maddy's was a sea-foam green with Baby Looney Tunes at the theme. It was really cute, until she learned how to peel off the wall border and stickers ;)

our walls are a light yellow and the crib set is blue and white (PBK's Counting Sheep...very pretty). I love blue and white, even for a girl, and thought the yellow was a pretty background. This was for our son, and now since we have the twins (boy and girl, born in march) we kept the yellow walls and the counting sheep for him, bought a pretty pink/white/green PBK butterfly bedding for the girl. Looks beautiful with the yellow walls! blue gingham curtains, white shade.

For my first born, the walls were white, and covered with 101 Dalmations. The bedding was white with black, red, yellow and blue dots and splashes all over it. We knew it was a boy later, but I had the room done already anyway. For my second, no idea of sex, it was Winnie The Pooh on white walls.

I painted Winnie the Pooh murals on the nursery walls. Classic Pooh, with the soft pastel type colors.

When my daughter was born, we were selling our house so we did not paint. Once we moved into the new house, we painted her room light pink and very, very light green.

When I was pregnant with my son, we painted his room green, bright, bright primary green on two walls and two walls white. Then we put up a order that has cars, buildings, boats and airplanes in bright primary colors.

We chose these colors by going to the paint store and looking at samples. I wanted DD's room to be girly and DS's room to be boyish.

our spare room is looking more and more like a nursery at the moment.

It is white walls ( some colour as most of the house) except 2 walls in the lounge/kitchen which are red.

We have medium paddington bear framed pictures on the walls, as well as a big framed paddington bear pic. We also have a blue toy box with paddington bear decale on, and a little blue book shelf.

There is also a paddington bear arm chair in there as well. We aren't going to paint the wall/s as to much effort and time. We also have paddington bear decales to place on the walls at a later date.

I've always thought pink and green were great together, so we "ragged" a sage green on the bottom third of the wall, painted the top 2/3 a peachy-pink, and have an off-white chair-rail separating them. We decided against a wallpaper border, only because so many nurseries have them. The curtains are off- white (very simple from "Country Curtains" with eyelet at the edges). It's so pretty and now that DD is 5, it still looks great because we stayed away from really "baby" themes - just some whimsical fairy prints (framed) on the walls and some Classic Pooh accessories (wall clock, letters that spell out her name, birthday figurines) - very sweet.

When DD was a tiny baby, her room was sage green and tan with brown teddy bears. Very restful and lovely for a baby's room.

We moved to a new home when she was 20 mos. In her room there, we painted the walls buttery yellow on the bottom and sky blue on the top. We painted in clouds on the blue, and painted a chair rail-height border in pink, lavender, blue, and green. It is daisies and butterflies. She loves it, and it is really cute!

She is about to turn 6, so I don't know how much longer she will want it up- before too long, she'll probably end up with bright purple walls or something!

We painted the babys room Toasted Almond. It's kind of a deep sand/khaki color :) It could have gone either way but we knew we were having a boy so we painted the furniture blue :) I got the whole idea from the Pottery Barn Kids cataloge :)

DS' was light blue with Winnie the Pooh.

DD just got her first room painted, she and her sister will be sharing the room. It's a bright pink on the bottom and a really light pink on top (both are disney colors) we also have stamps and stencils that I haven't gotten around to doing yet and those will be in tinker bell green.

Here's DD in her new pink room - she's loving it!

That sounds really pretty and a lot like DDs room. The bottom is light green, the top pink with the chair rail. On the walls we hung a quilt bar and quilt, a pink shelf with knick knacks, and framed print in pastels with hearts, and I got some cheapo unfinished frames from the dollar store, poainted them white and blew up snapshots of DD. I chnge the pictures often, but right now there are pictures of our trip to Vero Beach.

We decorated the room in a DISNEY theme (what else?). Walls were painted white. As a baby shower gift, we received something for the wall in Mickey and Minnie. A Mickey clock hung on one wall, while several Disney lithos (the ones that come with the movies you order at the Disney Store) were hung all over the other walls.

We left the walls white and did Disney Babies all over the walls and crib.

We felt that soon enough, we would have to paint the walls to "princesses" or "dinosaurs", why do another room makeover?

Our nursery was yellow when it was the spare bedroom. I loved the yellow! But DH thought that was too girly for a boy. Whatever! So, he painted wide blue stripes about 4 feet high (alternating a med. and darker blue) then painted the top half of the walls the med. blue color. A lion king border goes around the middle of the walls. The rest of the room is also the lion king theme (they used to carry this line at Burlington Coat).

I am hoping DS doesn't grow out of this room too soon!

every room in my house is a shade of light beige. I like to change things around alot and found this way it's alot easier. It's also very warm but open and light. dd's room started out Classic Pooh. I had framed pictures in a light lavender along one wall and giant stuffed animals everywhere. It was really beautiful. When we got rid of the crib we added some pastel blue and pink to the bed. (pillows, comforter, etc.) Later she wanted a more grown up room so we removed all winnie the pooh added a bright green comforter, purple flower throw rug and lots of mary-kate and ashley pillows. Now she's ready to change again - she's thinking of blue now (not pastel).
