in all the bridal magazines, the majority seems to be all white. I was going to go with black underskirt, white top (double layer) with black napkins but now I don't know! my room colors are in the tan/cream family...

so what did all of you pick? different color napkins? single or double layer tablecloths?

I'm going with white linen tablecloths and champagne coloured napkins - hopefully it will look good!

I think a black underskirt might look wonderfully dramatic on a table!

We were thinking of going with the white table linens to keep costs down a bit, and going with black napkins and a black sash on the chairs. Another option we were thinking of was a black overlay tablecloth on top of the white one, then going with the white napkins and still the black sashes on the chairs.

I think that a black underskirt would look really good! :thumbsup2 ...and with the black napkins too! I say go for it!:cutie:

I sewed my own napkins out of funky colored fabric, and made them different on either side of the napkin. I had planned on putting our initials on the napkins, or at least the date of the wedding...but I never got around to doing it. :sad1:

We're having our reception at the french pavilion. I chose black linens with an ivory overlay and black napkins. I wanted something 2 tone and dramatic outside.

wow!! I LOVE your napkins!! my place charges $1 per person for a different color tablecloth...and different color napkins but I figure, what the hey - it's only $$ :rotfl: seriously, I just want an elegant but dramatic look..and 2 of our courses are being served on black plates so I think I have to go for it!

looking at your napkins though....wow!! awesome:thumbsup2

We did white underneath with a sheer gold overlay on top!! It was gorgeous!

We did just what you're thinking, only we used deep purple (our wedding color). Looked really good.

I think black & white always looks elegant!
We had a single chocolate table cloth that had a pattern to it with satin chapagne napkins and beaded/jeweled napkin rings with hints of silver and gold. I really liked how it came out.

glorydaz, and DisneyFairy19, thank you for the sweet compliments! :)

Did you know that making your own napkins can cost more than just buying them? It must have been the cost of the fabric I bought (about $8.50 a yard, and I bought over ten yards of each fabric) and that each napkin required two different fabrics ....so I recommend that if you can find a napkin you like that's already made for you...go for it!:cutie:

We are doing ivory linens with a deep pink/rose sheer overlay and silver napkins 9these may be cut for budget reasons though;) )

I say do whatever you want and don't follow those mags too much- nothing is a rule anymore except that you create the day of your dreams;)

I was very plain on the linens - Ivory and then we did the kiwi/strawberry chair bows- we had a punch of color with the flowers and the table names - we also had seas shells and marbles on the table - but I wanted everything to be kind of pale and soft -

My thing was if I had more money to spend on linens I may
have added more color but there were other things I wanted to spend
$$$ on - so everyone is different- I used the unity candle as decoration
on my - I told them not to re light it because they charge you for a
hurricane - no open flames....
