What color lights do you use on your tree or outside?

I use red and green mini lights on my bushes outside, and multi colored regular bulbs on my tree. The snowflake shaped lights in one tree outside blink, but no other motion.

I have a prelit tree I ordered from QVC several years ago that has both colored and multi-colored lights. You can turn on one or the other or both I always turn on both and it is beautiful. Very bright.

Outside we only have multi-color lights. I think we are the only house on our street without white lights.

We're in the "white lights on the tree, multi-colored lights outside" camp. I love the classic/elegant look of a tree with simple white lights & red & white bulbs in my house. I also love the festive look of the colored lights outside in the snow.

We use white light outside and on the living room tree (the nice one) and colored lights on the family room tree (the fun one). The family room tree has the ornaments my kids made in school, the Disney ornaments, etc.

We use a combination of multi color and white lights both inside and out. I have 2 strands of multi color lights and 2 strands of white lights on my tree. We both love lots of color and we also like the white lights to break up the monotony of all color lights.

I have a prelit tree now with colored lights. And a small tree with colored lights that we take to the Fort (4 more days!!) When I decorate outside it is all blue. I usually put up lights at the cabin (FW) but not at home so if you are at the Fort look for blue icicle lights!!

Clear inside and out. The kids do have mini trees for their rooms and we do have a tree with colored lights we could put up, but we rarely do. I prefer white and my dh and the kids prefer color. I do 90% of the decorating- I win.

I usually really like white(clear) lights but this year and last I have red lights on my tree! I used to pass a house that had a red-lighted tree in the window and it was so pretty that I wanted to try it. I love it. I also only had white icicle lights and in the bushes outside but this year I got new green icicle lights, white for the bushes and red for around the railings. It's like the Italian flag at night The kids wanted colors and they are getting bigger so I figured I'd let them have their way for the next few years!

This reminds me of back in the day (2001 ) when the Osbourne lights at DHS used to be not only on the Streets of America but also on all of the "houses" that were used as fronts for TV shows/movies (where Lights, Motor, Action stunt show is now) and you would walk down the street looking at the lit up houses like you would in a neighborhood. I'll never forget one of the houses had nothing but red lights. Red light netting all over the yard, completely covering the house, and every bush and tree. It was awful. I'm glad they've put those lights to better use now! (I love the "dancing" to the music! ).

...After all the work putting up the lights - the thing that was most impactful took me about two minutes. I changed our sconces outside from white LED bulbs to red and green. The bulbs were about $4 and they made a huge difference. They look really cool.

I did that with my two porch lights as well, and I love the effect! My other outside ones are white, and the tree will have multi-colored.

I always put an evergreen garland on my banister and a large wreath on the wall in my living room and this year after seeing all the lovely garlands over peoples doors in the other thread I'm adding those as well.

Here is my dilemma, I can't bring myself to put colored lights on them.

Do I go with clear and have two different types in my living room or would it clash too terribly?

Am I destined to have a sad unlit garland forever?

I grew up in a house with up to 35 trees and about a hundred blowmold figures outside, so anything and everything. The more it clashes the better sometimes.

But I have a potential solution to your problem. They make and sell more than just clear and multi-colored lights. Blue is quite popular, but they also sell red...I have purple and teal strings, yellow, green. You can't get all colors all places, but you can find them in you look. But like I said Blue is a popular color, and I'm sure in your tree's multi-color string they have blue lights. The garlands stay all one color, giving it a nice clean look, like you would get with clear, but still match the tree.

Colored lights, but they have to have yellow! We looked all over the place for lights a few years ago that had yellow included and when we finally found them I bought a bunch. Our tree has 2 sets multi colored including yellow, and 1 set of dancing/pattern red, blue, and green. Outside has the same as the tree in the front window. I really admire the houses that go all out.

I like multi-color lights on the tree. Outside, I like multi-color lights for everything but icicle lights I only like in clear.
