What color is your daughter's prom dress/son's colors

Yeah the unwritten rule (well 15 years ago anyways) was you NEVER got the dress from a "rack" store, Macy's, L&T, etc. you got it from a dress boutique and we actually went out of state! The boutique always wrote down color, style, brand so no one else had it!!!

We didn't have sharing online then, but no one I know would have done that it was a coveted secret because the waiters at the hotel where prom was held always voted on King/queen based on who they liked...

I and done with proms but I can tell you that my nieces's is red. Bought in shop in NJ.

Navy was big this year ay my son's prom. Saw a lot of girls in navy gowns on facebook. My son's girlfriend wore a midnight blue gown in a very old, Hollywood style. She was so beautiful.

When I went out shopping with dd I saw so many beautiful navy dresses but my dd wore it last year so she didn't want to wear the same color this year. Last year there were hardly any, her's was one of a few in the huge dress store we went to.

Deep violet, sweetheart neckline, lace cap sleeves, keyhole back with a bit of a plunge, circle skirt, lacy bodice with iridescent Swarovski crystals and cut out lace flowers appliqued at the waistline.

Just curious where you get prom dresses from. I'm still a year away with my daughter but she said they order online. I'm not a fan of that. In my day we went to bridal shops. Love hearing about prom dresses and gowns. So much fun.

My daughter found hers on Etsy. We sent her measurements and the dress fit her perfectly and she LOVED it! It is plum with gold beading at the top. Her bf had gold tie and pocket sq.. they looked great together!

I think a coral dress would be stunning. DD was set on purple because it's still her favorite color and she's never been able to find one in the store. Truthfully coral might not look very good on my dd's coloring anyway, but I'm always drawn to coral when I see it in the store.

My DD's prom is on April 30. She's wearing red--I think it's beautiful on her! We bought it at a bridal store.
Her date is wearing black tux, red vest.

I am probably mistaken that I posted daughter's boyfriend is wearing a cumberbund. That's what I remember from my prom days. So I'm guessing it will be a tie or vest?

My daughter wore ombre black on top fading to teal on the bottom. We got it at Dillards and she loves it although it cost more than I planned to spend. Hopefully she can consign it next year. Red seemed to be very popular this year.

Navy has been mentioned quite a bit in this thread, her last few formal dresses were navy, so she was looking for something different this time around.
We found this dress at a bridal shop after looking in quite a few other stores first. It's got one strap (a nice change after all the strapless dresses she's had in the past), and the waistline draws off to one side. DD is only 5'1" so it's hard to find floor length dresses that don't make her look even shorter, but that style of waistline helped lengthen her a bit (and of course she's got some pretty high heels :) ).
She really wanted one of the two-piece dresses that are popular now, but couldn't find one she liked in floor length (so she bought a shorter, less formal, version of this style to wear for graduation).

Sounds pretty. DD was insistent on no blue because her prom dress last year and a few of the homecoming dresses have been blue. Purple has always been her dream and it's great that we can make it happen her senior year.

I was just at our local tux place today. Out of the dozens of tuxedos on display, only one had a cumberbun / vests are so much nicer, with a tie.

The official dress color is "champagne" but I call it Band-aid. It's a pink beige color. Very pretty, but undeniably Baid-aid colored.

BTW Are you guys all broke. First dress Darling picked out was not cheap. Thank God when we went to get she found one she like better for $100 cheaper.

I just ordered shoes for dd. They cost more than the dress. Hopefully her foot won't grow and she can wear them to senior prom next year. They're silver and sparkly which should look pretty with teal.

DD is wearing last year's shoes and carrying the silver clutch she and her sister have carried at all of their formals. When the dress is finished we'll have to pick out jewelry.

The one we ordered was really at my upper spending limit but we loved it so much in pictures. Since it didn't work out we returned it but there was a restocking fee. Fortunately the dress she ended up with was almost half the price of that one. With the dress, shoes, flowers, and hair accessory from Walmart, we are right around $300. Those will be the only expenses though. Hair, makeup, and nails will be done at home, and prom and dinner do not cost the kids money. Her shoes are sandals that can be worn with a lot of outfits. She wore them to church Sunday to make sure they felt okay and got several compliments on them. I think she'll wear them a lot.
