What can you NOT eat on the DxDP?

This is my first time using the dining plan ever. I know we can get an app, entree and dessert with every meal on the DxDP at table service restaurants or have the buffet.. Besides the "enhancements" what can we not order? There are some places that have $60 steaks and as we are foodies, we might want to try them. Will they tell you when you place an order that it's not covered under the dining plan? We are going to the following restaurants. What can't we order there? Also, if there is anything you would recommend at each place, I'd love to hear it!

Breakfast:
Ohana
California Grill Brunch
Akershus
CRT
1900 Park Fare

Lunch:
Yak and Yeti
Be Our Guest
Sci-Fi

Dinner:
Tiffins (ROL package)
Ohana
Narcoossee's
Hoop De Doo
V & A Queens Room (OOP, so this doesn't count)
Le Cellier
Spirit of Aloha Luau

Well V&A is NOT on the DDP. Also Be Guest is counter service at lunch so you will only get an entree and drink. That would be an absolutely horrible use of a credit. If you are foodies the dinner shows are not good food, plus Ohana and the luau are very similar so I wouldn't do both. Yachtsman is very good if you like steak or Flying Fish for seafood. I would suggest to add in an EP restaurant too, they are all good.

So to your original question, nothing comes to mind that isn't included at those places.

Also your CG brunch day you will not want to eat the rest of the day. Might be a good night to use some snack credits. The France bakery (les halles) has some great stuff, sweet and savory.

In general, most things on the menu (in the appropriate menu sections) can be ordered on DxDP. A $60 steak at a signature? Yeah, even that.

General exceptions are:

  • Items listed as "for 2" (or more) - in many cases, multiple diners can combine their entitlements to get the item; for appetizers/desserts, there's always a chance your server will let one diner get the "for 2" item, just don't plan on it happening.
  • Items with rare/exotic ingredients - the typical case here would be something like Wagyu beef at a signature restaurant. This is usually handled as an entitlement plus an upcharge.
  • Multi-course fixed-price meals - the only one I know of off the top of my head are the "feasts" at Marrakesh, these are credit plus upcharge per diner. (Regular fixed price meals with appetizer/entree/dessert such as at Chefs de France just take a credit with no upcharge.)

Ohana, Akershus, CRT, Luau, HDD and 1900PF are all buffets or set meals, so you get what you get, and it's not handled as "app-entree-dessert" as a menu restaurant would on DDP.

I don't know if any of your restaurants have one of these, but there are a few (as in probably less than 5) entrees scattered throughout WDW that will require an upcharge. It will be noted if that is the case. Most of these are $75 or over in price.

I didn't think that brunch at California Grill was on the DDP either... am I wrong?
