what came first

Just so I truly understand -
What exactly is "The Dis"?
The website?
Wdwinfo?
The boards and forums are the same thing, right?
Are they all "The Dis"?

At the top of the webpage it says
The Internet's Largest Unofficial On-Line Guide to Walt Disney World
with links to
Information | DISboards.com | Dreams Unlimited Travel

How do they mesh?

Where / when does the podcast come in? That is where I first met the team.

Is there a mini history of this someplace?

Thanks! :flower3:

If you haven't already done so, you should go back to the archives for June 12, 2007 where they talk around the Roundtable about the first 10 years. That will probably answer any questions you have and give you the "mini history" you are looking for.

I have listened to that show twice. I have saved it on my iPod. Perhaps I need to listen again!

I just read on the A List of Common Abbreviations thread that DIS = Disney Information Station (the former name of this web site).
I always thought that DIS was short for Disney!

There should be a book about the history of the dis.

Wow, I remember when I first found the Dis. It was back in 2000. I had previously belonged to an internet group called Magic something or other? I don't remember. I do remember that there were problems with the group as members weren't getting along. I remember saying then, that I liked the Dis as everyone was so friendly. I still feel the same way almost 10 years later. I do remember that there were a lot less forums. In fact, when I started the Creative DISign thread wasn't up and running. :goodvibes I also remember planning my first trip to Disney in 1983 without the internet. we have come such a long, long way. Penny:hippie:

I remember the first internet Disney planning I did was on RADP. Then I discovered Deb Wills site (before the name change). I have not been on RADP in years, too much bickering and name calling (and ads for male enhancement medications or cheap jewelry), but fondly remember the Iago and Zazu threads.

I think we started looking for information on planning a trip for 1997 that got delayed due to the unexpected pregnancy for our middle child. I lurked on these boards for years before signing up and becoming more of a regular. Great place to hang around and meet people.

i feel very strongly that the reason for this is the very low tolerance for troublemakers and bad language. people (and i include myself in this) will sink to the lowest part of the pond if left to themselves. if you disagree just go to any of the sports forums or to the comments at the bottom of sports blogs or even "that other place" and read some of the trash spouted there. reminds me of two things..........without order the only thing left is chaos............and..........if you want to make the people happy, make sure the trains run on time........i do not agree with everything these folks say but i will tell you they are very good at what they do.......................no i am not fishing for brownie points...................LOL

Also, who or what owns the DISboards? Would the answer just be Pete? or is there some other thing-a-majig... Sorry if this makes no sense....Someone said that the DISboards is owned by Dreams Unlimited Travel and it made me think..

I dont agree with everything everyone says either, but as we've shown, you can disagree and still be friendly and polite.

Pete owns the DIS and the DISBoards. There is no other thing-a-majig. Pete is the thing-a-majig.

Pete, John and Donna (the shy, quiet partner) own Dreams Unlimited Travel....which came after the DIS.

The Podcast came after the DIS and Dreams Unlimited Travel and is part of the DIS.

Hope that clears tjhings up.
