I fell in love with Disney first....and have been a Disney fan since my childhood. I've been camping for the past four years and I am fairly new to this....but I fell in love nonetheless. I have yet to visit The Fort....but that trip is coming soon.

I consider myself a Disney fan....that happens to love camping. I am just curious.....did you all fall in love with Disney....and then camping? Or was it vice versa.....just wondering.

I'd love to read your responses. Best wishes all!

How about both at the same time? :) Always loved camping and Disney (when I was young my dream was to become an animator). I did go camping before I went to Disney though... If I had to label myself it would be a camper who loves Disney.

Been camping for 41 years and now have been a FL resident for 10 years. We are avid fans of FW and make our reservations for the holidays a year in advance so we don't miss out. You will love both Mickey and FW.
Enjoy

My family and I have loved camping forever.... when we found out we could camp at Disney... it really made us love Disney more.

Disney first, then camping. First trip to Disney was in 77. Started camping in the late 90's and when I started planning our 2001 Disney trip (hubby's first) was so happy we could do both at the same time.

Disney first, started the obsession in 1991. Camping came in 2000 and the two merged.

For me I think it was Disney first. I remember camping when I was little but most of my memories are of the park. I went spring break of 2011 with my fiancé and we just put a tent on my grandparents site and fell back in love with The Fort. We have now stayed twice since then one tent camping and one in the cabin and will be back in a month with a rented popup. We love how many different ways The Fort can be experienced.

Thanks for replying....its interesting to see how these two extremely fun activities rank. It seems most folks got bitten by the Disney bug first. But one things for sure....once you join the camping craze.....you'r
e hooked!

My first camping trip was about the age of 4 and my first Disney trip was when I was 8. I was hooked on each from the beginning. But in all my trips to Disney (including the few months I was a CM) I never set foot at FW. I don’t know why but our next WDW trip will be my first time there! :goodvibes

Hope you have a great trip. I can't wait for my first trip to the Fort!

Growing up I'd always wanted to go to Disney and never had the chance. My parents are not campers so I didn't start camping until I married my husband. We are a camping family all the way and finally got to Disney in 08. Still haven't been camping in Disney b/c we just got our first camper this year. Before that it was tent camping and borrowing mother in laws pop up and we always did Disney in the summer so the Fort didn't appeal to me in a tent or non air conditioned pop up. So we are looking forward to our first Disney Fort trip next year. It's super exciting to combine both our love for Disney and our love of camping.

We started camping with a class A about 20 years ago. We had been going to disney once every 3 or 4 years then bought into DVC. We went to the resorts often as we live in Florida about 80 miles North of Disney. Found the Fort through my Brother who camped in the cabins for years. We took the coach to the Fort with our pup and loved it. On our 4th coach and still love the Fort.

From the day we got our first popup, we have dreamed of camping at the Fort. Over the years we have graduated from popup to travel trailer to travel trailer with slides to fifth wheel and now 40' fifth wheel bunk house. :thumbsup2 However, we have never made it to the Fort. :worried: We have made reservations every year that got changed when "free dining" was released. Finally, we are definitely making our trek to the Fort this year for Thanksgiving week. :cool1: Can't wait!

We will be there Thanksgiving week.
Look for my Green Ears.
If all goes as planned we will be in the 600 Loop.

Just look for two fifth wheels with University of Tennessee decor. (Go VOLS!) Not sure what loop to request so we just reserved premium sites. Maybe we will run into each other. Can't wait!
