We will be flying in and using ME, so there will be no store stop.

I need some ideas of what i can bring on the airplane to keep in the room (no fridge) so we can have a quick breakfast in the room. something like pop tarts, but what else i cant think of anything.

Thanks

I have heard of people freezing muffins in a zip loc and packing those. I might do that in September b/c I am pregnant and have a great, healthy recipe for muffins I eat every day. You could always pack bagels in your carry on, even cream cheese in a little insulated lunch sack with a mini ice pack. Just depends how long you are traveling.

cereal bars granola bars, rice krispie treats, cheerio treats same as rice but with cheerios Dried fruits and nuts can be added to the homemade treats just throw in a hand full or 2 without altering the recipe.

Fresh fruit apples and bananas travel well and don't need a fridge.

Dried fruits raisins, apricots, bananas etc

Nuts walnuts peacans etc whatever you like.

Bagels that don't need to be refridgerated and jar of peanut butter.

Boxed doughnuts just make sure they sealed in plastic.

Box of dry cereal fruitloops etc if you or kiddies will eat it dry. Or get milk from food court or gift shop at resort. If you pack spoons and bowls could eat cereal and milk have a bit of fruit with it.

Granola bars or cereal bars. Some kind of fruit that won't spoil quickly (oranges?). Graham crackers. Snack-sized applesauce cups (I'd pack them inside baggies in case they get punctured. Those peanut butter and cheese cracker thingies. Uncrustables PB and J sandwiches. Fruit rollups. Raisins or my new fave, Craisins.

Be on alert that pop tarts crumble really easily when traveling (personal experience here)!

If you have a coffee pot, you can take packets of hot cocoa to make in the room. I like to take frosted mini-wheat type cereal--great dry as a snack. Breakfast bars, energy bars, milk and cereal bars. I have some breakfast granola, oat, chocolate chip bars by Quaker that are very good and would pack well. Rice cakes. Moon-Pies. Also, I'll admit that I have eaten Chips AHoy cookies for breakfast. Also think about the packages of Lance-type snack crackers--not typical breakfast food, but filling. With a piece of fruit, any of these can be a light breakfast.

I like the idea of peanut butter and graham crackers. These are tasty together, but I hadn't thought of them before.

We take Pop Tarts (no, not Britney and Christina!). It's about the only time I will eat a cold pop tart, I never even ate them as a child! There's just something about being in a WDW resort hotel eating a cold Pop Tart with a bottle of Sunny Delight in the morning :). I always say I'm going to go down and get breakfast and bring it back to the room but it never seems to happen, so its Pop Tarts for the Crawford family at WDW!

Consider taking along a 2 slice toaster (can be found cheap, under $10 at Walmart, etc.) - we then take english muffins, bread, pop tarts, no-frigerated waffles, etc. - Others have suggested before using the toaster/microwave at the food court (you could heat water for oatmeal).

We also take cereal, bowls and spoons - get milk from the food court/gift shop - about $3 per quart. Either take along a small cooler (check as luggage) or use the trash can with plastic liner and fill with ice. I will also carry a small insulated cooler with butter and cream cheese on the plane.

We travel quite a bit for my DD's soccer, so we have gotten very good at doing breakfast (cheap) in the room.

Also look for package of mini-muffins (chocolate or blueberry). I removed everything from the box and use a plastic rubbermaid type container to put anything in that may get smashed.

Good Luck!!

WE have done it different ways in the past. I have brought along peanut butter, Pop Tarts, baggies with cereal in them, instant oatmeal. Also, snacks. Just nothing that will crush easily. But I found that putting in an on-line grocery order was really wonderful. For the fee they charge (maybe $10 or so) you can order anything you want. I have gotten water, juice (both boxes and carton of OJ) bread, cereal, fruit, etc. It was very convenient and I didn't have to worry about stuff getting crushed in my bags. Of course, there is the argument that you can use the now emtpy bags for those souveniers you buy while in WDW!!! But, check out wegoshop.com and see what you think. They were quite good when we used them in June.

Just a nod to being healthy -- Kashi Trail Mix bars will really stay with with you throughout the entire morning, and they have almonds, cranberries, 7 whole grains and sesame. They are very portable, sweet enough to satisfy a child, and will give you a little boost to make it to that first snack or lunch.

For the past three years, I've been bringing homemade muffins frozen ahead of time. This year, though, I will pack them in those plastic glad containers or tupperware instead of zip locks. On our most recent trip, the muffins got smashed :(
The good part was that it made for some humorous video as I taped DGS trying to eat the crummy mess. ;)

Thanks for all the great tips here!

When we go I try to pack...pop-tarts, granola bars, cereal bars, bagels, and muffins. You might want to put them in a small container so that they don't get smooshed! I also find it worth the $10 fee for the refrigerator. Then you can have cream cheese for the bagels( YUM! ), and any leftovers ( cold pizza from the night b/f). To save $ on water, we brought a few empty water bottles with us. At night fill our refillable cups with water from the food court, go back and transfer it into our water bottles, put in the refrige. The next day we would put them in our backpack ( 2 bottles- share, your all in the same family! Any more bottles and it gets alittle heavy). Hope you and your family have a super fun and safe trip!!

thank you guys for the great idea's.....i think i will bring my small cooler that folds down.

I like the idea of cream cheese and bagels, also my flight is only 1:30 long not sure how long it will take my bags to get to the resort probably longer than the flight LOL :teeth: :teeth:

also like the idea about a couple bottled waters, you know i bet if i froze a plastic quart of milk it would still be good when the bags make it to the room what do you guys think???

You can also get hot water at the food court out of the dispenser they have there for making tea.

I was so happy to see this post. I picked up a few items today and it looks like they were good purchases. Granola bars, peanut butter, cheese/peanut butter crakers, pop tarts, pudding cups, cereal, fruit snacks, etc. This is so helpful! Its so funny; I got cereal, but was so happy to see the bowls and spoons listed, I totally forgot we needed them! Thanks for all the post! :) :sunny:

You crack me up! At home my kids like to put poptarts in the freezer and then eat them cold. :cold: I like balance gold bars. DH will eat cereal with milk. I'm afraid that once we get on vacation our money saving (or TS and CS credit saving) plans will go out the window. :rotfl:

I will be flying in Nov. for the first time since 1980. ;) My flight is only 1 hour and 2 min so it won't be too bad I hope. :teeth:

Kashi Trail Mix Bars is what I was going to suggest, too! (TARGET carries them) We have a few boxes in our "Disney Box" ready to go!
