What brand of dog food do you buy?

Just remember the corn in dog food just ends up on your lawn. The only thing animals (and people) can use out of corn is the sugar and it makes them fat. If you have a heavy dog get a brand that doesnt have corn. Corn is one of the main things they feed pigs and cows to fatten them up for meat. I have and show lots of large breed dogs and the last thing you want is a 200+lbs Mastiff going in your backyard after eating dog food with a high content of corn.. Also gives the little ones gass lol.

I'm learning alot reading this thread!

Here is my question...we don't have Costco within a 30 minute drive or I'd try their brand.

Which of these "good" brands are budget friendly and where can I find them? I honestly would like to feed my dog something that is better for her, but I don't have the money to spend a ton on the dog when I am also struggling to put gas in the car and keep fresh fruits and veggies in the house for my children, kwim?

So, aside from the Costco brand, what is a good rated, budget friendly food that I can get for my Golden?

Diamond Large Breed 60+ Formula / Score 99 = A


These would be ones to try they are good and wont break the bank. They are at the feed stores. You can also try Chicken Soup for the dog lovers soul (my fave for dry dog food) it is a little more and at the feed stores too.

Are you using the Halo dry Spots Stew? My two picky eaters ate it for a while, now I'm using the canned Spot's Stew to entice Scruffy to eat the dry. Wow, what an eye opener this has been. When you open a can it looks like Gerber Graduates, pieces of pasta, whole green beans and carrot pieces, pieces of chicken or lamb, really looks like stew! He like the chicken one but is not crazy about the lamb, likes it better without the dry mixed in too.

I purchased 3 cans of wet and a small bag of dry. I had never used wet food before so this will be new for us.

If our Sparkey starts to not like the dry, I'll probably mix it too.

I was using Old Yeller for my dog.

We have since collected three more dogs.
One of them has a delicate stomach.

I have switched to Purina One.
The Husky pup is doing much better with it.
It costs a lot more but there is a lot less poopoo to clean up in the dog pens.

Have you seen any Purina One coupons?
