What book are you currently reading?

I just finished Water for Elephants, too. I liked it very much - a completely different story about a time and place I never thought I'd be interested in!!!! I also read a good book called Eye Contact earlier in the summer. Next up is The Memory Keeper's Daughter - I hope to start it this weekend!!

I just started rereading HP six today. After I finish that (in a few days) I plan to start A Clockwork Orange.

I'm about two thirds of the way through a book called Grasp the Stars by Jennifer Wingert. As you can guess, it's science fiction. I picked it up at a flea market and expected nothing from it. I'm finding it extremely good. The exploration of alien psychology is excellent, far better than other writers I've read recently. It's an original DAW paperback, published in 2004. Well worth it, if you're interested in this kind of thing.

I just finished "A Window To The World" by Susan Meissner ~ very good.
I am in the middle of "The Note" by Angela Hunt and have One Small Thing by Jessica Barksdale Inclan to take on vacation next week. Looking forward to Found coming out next month, by Karen Kingsbury.

I just finished Can't wait to get to Heaven by Fannie Flag. It was a very good read.

I just finished Night by Elie Wiesel last night. I read the whole book yesterday. I couldn't put it down, it's his true account of being in Auschwitz and Birkenau. Absolutely horrifying and inconceivable what he had to live through.

That is an amazing book.

Oh, and I just started Christopher Moore's new book A Dirty Job.
Great book! Enjoy! :)

"Kingdom Keepers" too, and will now start "Promise Me" by Harlan Coben, great Author by the way. ;)

I started Lifeguard by James Patterson at 4:30 yesterday afternoon and finished it 8 hours later (with interruptions) :rolleyes1 That one was good.

I have a new one I think I'll start tomorrow- Pirate by Ted Bell. Never heard of him, but it looks like a murder/mystery/thriller. Mom called and told me to pick up The Birth of Venus, too, so I'll get that one later in the week when Pirates is done, I guess.

I seriously think I read too much....

Re-reading ( for the third time ) "Horse Heaven" by Jane Smiley. It's as much about people and their relationships as it is about horses. I get something new out of it every time I read it.

Eliazbeth Berg's "We are All Welcome Here." Very good, moving, a woman raises a daughter despite being in an iron lung due to having polio.

I read that book last month and loved it!!!

I just finished, Murder In the Heartland, a true story about a horrific murder that took place a few years ago, (a woman killed a pregnant woman and cut the baby from her womb).

Before that, I read, Mockingbird, a biography of Nelle Harper Lee, author of To Kill A Mockingbird. EXCELLENT book!

I'm now reading, The Highly Sensitive Person. Good book! :)

Another :thumbsup2 for this one! I've been recommending it to everyone--it's an incredible story. And even more so since it's very loosely based on a true story.

I'm reading The Pale Blue Eye--a murder mystery in which Edgar Allen Poe is a major character. Very interesting. I just finished The Dumas Club which I enjoyed a lot but I thought the ending was a bit anticlimactic.

luvflorida--due to your recommendation, I'm anxiously awaiting Mockingbird to come in at the library. :teeth: I've got it on hold.

I've just finished House by Frank Peretti and Ted Dekkar this weekend...

eh...I thought it was just so-so.
