Finished The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown last week (very interesting and thought provoking).

Just finished Day of the Dead by J.A. Jance. It was TERRIBLE. Very disturbing of her, really. I've read 30 of her books and this was just WAY out there. I may stop reading her stuff altogether after this last book.

I finished Second Glance by Jodi Picoult yesterday. I loved it. Today I started Mercy by Jodi Picoult.

I just finished My Sister's Keeper by Picoult. It was my first by her and I LOVE her writing style. Will definitely pick up more.

The Other Boleyn Girl.....it's a pretty interesting read so far. Historical fiction about the sister of Anne Boleyn.

Rage by Jonathan Kellerman....he and Faye are always on my must read lists
I am supposed to be reading Hearting of Christianity by Borg for my book club but I am really tired of boring non fiction....glad to hear someone liked Marley and Me....want to read that one!!
Thanks for all these new books. I haven't even heard of half of them.

I've been having a hard time finding books by her. I read the one about the Amish ,"Plain Truth", and I loved it. My next mission is to find and read "My Sister's Keeper". Right now I'm reading "The Blessing" by Jude Devereaux.

I picked up My Sister's Keeper at Walmart a few weeks about for about $10.

Jodi Picoult is doing a signing nearby to me in a couple of weeks. It'll be neat to have my book signed by her. She's doing a reading from her newest one.

I was given this one as a gift and I just cant get into it.Did you think it started off kinda slow?
I am reading At First Sight by Nicholas Sparks
I just finished a Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon-my fave writer of all time! It sounds wierd but she writes about a woman from now who time travels back to ancient Scotland. They are huge books but once you get hooked there is no stopping.

My Sister's Keeper
Lovely Bones
Lucky
.....
but the best book I've read in a long, long time was......

These is My Words, by Nancy Turner. Full of everything you want in a book- adventure, grief, joy, love, ....I was so sad when the book ended, but then I found out there was a sequel called Sarah's Quilt. These books were based on the journals of the author's grandmother- Sarah Turner. EVERYONE in my book club loved this book- check out the reviews on Amazon, but be careful, they sometimes give too much of the plot away. I can't imagine being disappointed in this book.

I'm in the middle of 4 different books right now!

My "read a chapter at bedtime" book is "The Big Six" by Arthur Ransome (it's a "juvenile fiction" book in a series called "Swallows and Amazons" - one of my favorites!)
My "carry around in my purse for when I need something to read" book is "The Pale Horse" by Agatha Christie
I'm reading a book about South East England (history, nature, current info, etc. information) for our trip there this summer
And my "hang out and chill" book is "Notes from a Small Island" by Bill Bryson (again, in anticipation of our trip to England this summer)

I just finished The Mermaid Chair. I enjoyed it.

Now I am reading Breaking Her Fall by Stephen Goodwin. My 19yo DD read it and it looked interesting.

Next up will be Marley and Me.

I'm reading something called Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife. It's the continuation of Pride and Prejudice. It's really really trashy but I just can't put it down. Apparently Mr Darcy ain't nothing but a horn dog and resembles a horse in at least one regard :earseek: Sometimes, you just want a little light trash reading

You mean Mr. Darcy ends up with someone other than Lizzie??? Or is Lizzie still the object of his affections?

Jane Austen must be rolling over in her grave!

I'm reading "Memory In Death" by JD Robb - it's ok.....I'm not completely into it.

Thanks Jackie. I read the reviews on Amazon like you suggested. Now it's on my "to read" list. :)

I'm reading Life Mask by Emma Donoghue and it's the first novel that's really sucked me in in a long time. I highly recommend it for anyone who is a historical fiction fan. :)

Omg, I can't count how many times I've read this book. I lol each and every time. I love Bill Bryson and this book led me to read some others of his. One of my favorite parts is when he throws away his friend's hostess cakes or whatever they were. lol.

I had a friend in college who walked the whole appalacian (sp?) trail. He started off with a friend who hurt himself after the first week so he did it alone. I really admired him...what an amazing accomplishment.

As for me, I'm currently reading "Team of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

You might be interested in a quirky book called "where the waters divide". It may be hard to find. But it's about a couple's hike along the Continental Divide. It was really really interesting, but I have no idea if you can find it anymore.

Someone told me this is a pseudernym for Sandra Brown, true?

Ok folks, for all you new Jodi Picoult fans (I've been reading her for years and years, as each book comes out!), my faves have been Keeping Faith and Salem Falls. Whew.

And for anyone that has Marley & me on their list.... ENJOY!

And if anyone is looking for a really really fun fun children's chapter book, read The Penderwicks, a tale of four sisters, two rabbits and a boy. My dd, 9 and I thoroughly enjoyed it!!!

(Btw, if anyone likes mysteries with some fun, try Mary Kay Andrews. She's sort of like a southern version of Jennifer Cruise!)

JD Robb is really Nora Roberts. I like the Nora Roberts books but am not really into the JD Robb ones.

The first time I ever heard of Jodi Picoult was here, and I am so excited I did. My Sister's Keeper was the first one I read and I have been hooked since. I think my favorites so far are My Sister's Keeper, Second Glance and Perfect Match.
