What are your Pet Peeves?

There has been the peeve of stopping in front which has been mentioned, can I just ask how you would like those to stop? I just cant figure out a way which would be better. I am trying not to ask this while making a funny comment as I am quite serious.

Infants at the parks
Teenagers swearing/acting stupid
Not wearing a shirt and shorts etc. in the parks

My #1 pet peeve is when we have sat in a parade spot since 7:30 and when 9pm comes aound and they dim the lights People try to squeeze their a** in front of me or my little kids that sat there for over and hour. Then they have the nerve to look at you and say " we just want to see the parade". Well duhhh so do all the rest of us who sat here for 1.5 hours to have a spot for our kids and us to be able to see. Rant over :goodvibes

#2 is people who claim not to understand english who just cut you in line :rolleyes1 .

#3 inappropiate behavior at a family park, such as cursing and walking with lit cigarettes. Not wearing much clothes in the parks such as bikini tops or their booty hanging out their shorts so short they like underwear. Why do I have to see that :confused3 .

O.K. Please don't flame me, I can take the pushing and the occasional swear word but:
I know that deodorant is cheap so why is it everytime I go on a ride or attraction with close contact someone without deodorant always sits by me. Last year someone was so bad on R.R. in MGM that I really thought that I was going to be sick. My DH was in the car in front of mine, but he came up to me looking at our pictures afterwards (she was standing beside him) and he was actually gagging!

:rotfl: Why didnt I think of that one??? been there, smelled that!, don't want to do it again!

Woops! Sorry. I do that with my son all the time when we go somewhere or when we are at the store or anything. I'll point out something and ask him questions about it. Just to explain why though, he is 2 years old and really learning to talk right now and form sentences and speech therapists tell parents to engage the kids in conversation. This helps them learn to communicate better. Asking questions about what they are seeing can help develop verbal skills and creative thinking as well. However, I understand that might be very annoying to another adult. I'll try to remember on our trip with our son not to do that

That is very good advice. I work in what is basically a Special Ed Preschool. It is amazing how many kids are in there because their parents DIDN'T talk to their child like that. I did it with my child, even on rides, and thought everyone talked tot their child. :confused3 Speech and thinking skills are so important to nuture at that age and can put them behind before they even start school.

However when I am on a ride I promise to try to do it quietly at least! ;)

Heres mine:

-People who dont shower all vacation. I agree with the person above, if your not going to shower  at least spray some cologne on yourself.

-Girls who wear a bikini top as their shirt at magic kingdom.

-I agree with kids under 6 should sit on your lap on a crowded bus but I got yelled at on the transportation forums for saying that, apparantley its safer to have your kid in their own seat according to them and they wont put their child on their lap for anyone.

-Wet people from the pool in the food court. (With no shoes i may add)

-Crying(screaming) kids on the bus while the parents talk to their friends and totally ignore the child. :scared1:

-Using your stroller as a weapon and not as a kid seat.

Not defending it or encouraging it or anything, but, deoderant is not universal. There are many cultures in which deoderant usage is rare. Since there is such a mix of nationalities, etc, at the parks I kind of just expect to have to smell some B.O. now and then.

Gees, after reading all the bus complaints I'm pretty happy we never rode the bus. I was thinking about using the bus this next trip but I think we will stick to using the car after reading about how crowded the busses are and how rude people are!:confused3

The Disney transportation system can be a love/hate relationship for a lot of us. I've seen some crazy things, but more often than not, I really enjoy using them because you get to meet people you'd never talk to outside of Walt Disney World. People have a tendancy to let their guard down and be more open to random conversations; "Where are you from?" "How's your vacation going?" and it can be a really pleasurable experience.

I also *love* giving up my seat to people who I feel would benefit from it. Most people are shocked when I do it, and it's nice to see the smile and appreciation, knowing I made someone's day just a little bit easier. I find it fun to stand up on the bus, it makes for a more interesting ride, trying to stay in one place :)

That said, I suppose some people expect busses to be quiet during park closing. The crying/screaming issues are both unfortunate for the children doing it, and for us around them, and I totally blame the parents. These small children only have so much energy, and when you keep them up for sixteen hours, in ninety degree heat, and don't get the proper nutrition they need, yeah, you're kid is going to be going ape on you at ten o'clock at night. Don't act surprised, and don't look back at people staring at you with that snare in your eyes, it's your own fault for putting your child - and everyone around you, through it.

I will probably always use the Disney Transportation system when I go, but I know to be patient in the PM and realize that the poor kids are just tired and frustrated, and that's the only way they know to let it out.

One of my biggest pet peeves I haven't even seen mentioned: people who back up without looking behind them in a crowded park. I don't know how many times I have had people do this and walk smack into me. :sad2:

Here is my list:

~ People who just stop right in front of you.

~ When people cut in line... yep, when I was at WL, an extremely rude man and his family said "Ummm... I believe it is my turn." after we had been standing there for 15 minutes and he was only there for 3.

~ Adults who park their large behinds right in front of your children's faces at the parades, then claim to either not know English or just say something like "Tell your kids they can look around me." Horrible.

~ Children running around, swearing, not listening, screming, etc.

~ Parents not holding their toddlers on their laps when elderly people are standing.

~ People making HUGE scenes when they don't get FP's for a ride.

~ People who simply screaming at their children that they ruined the vacations, etc.

One time, this guy who stopped right in front of me on Main Street USA, I just walked up to him and said something, well, not particularly kind.

1. People with strollers who use that as an excuse to run over/cut in front of you.

2. People who think because I'm an adult with no kids, I should feel obligated to give up my spot for their children. I'm only 5'! I can't see if I'm not at the front, either! Sorry!

I don't have anything against kids, but I don't think the world has to always revolve around them, either. I'm sure I would feel differently if I had kids, but I don't. I just want to enjoy my hard earned vacationprincess:

One word... heelys.. i swear if i see one more kid rolling around on those, i'll throw a stick in front of him like in Big Daddy.. LOL, just kidding, but seriously, not just in the parks, but everywhere people are getting run over by little kids on roller shoes, and it's really riddiculous.

I've never had the nerve, but thought it would be fun to to this. Explain stuff to my wife loudly... and be all totally fake. Just act like a know-it-all but be totally off. "You know, the Castle used to be over there" On POTC... "you know that's all real gold" TOT "This used to be a Holiday Inn"

:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Sounds like something my BIL would do

I work in a business that can make you cynical and I fight that urge, doesn't always work. One of the things I like about going to WDW is that i escape reality for the entire trip. I go out of my way to not let something bother me that normally would. If I see someone exhibiting bad, stupid, rude behavior, I just try to think and say "thank goodness they're not with us"...

Just as you would do if you were driving and needed to check a map. Pull over to the side somewhere so you're not blocking the flow of traffic.

People need to learn bus manners.

Small children shouldn't be taking up a seat on a crowded bus. If I can hold my 40 lb squirming child in my lap after a long day in the parks, then so can you. There is no reason for a child under 7 or 8 to have their own seat on a crowded bus. So what if they don't want to sit in your lap, make them.

Getting on the bus before the people on it already have gotten off.

Getting ticked because you have to wait 2 minutes for the driver to let the person(s) in wheelchairs and ECV's on first. It's for your safety and trust me it's not all its cut out to be, it's actually a pain to get on and off the buses with an EVC.

RUDE CM's - yesterday was my day for them and geezzzzzzzz :confused3
Good point about putting little ones on your lap and the bigger kids should, if anything, offer their seat to an adult(of either gender). Some people have medical issues(heart trouble, rheumatoid arthritis, have gone through cancer treatment etc) and it may not be obvious that they aren't in optimal health. I'm with the camp that says that if you need to sit that badly, or you own a stroller the size of a small car, that you should wait for the next bus or take a smaller stroller. Or heck, if you have small kids and lots of gear, maybe you could rent a car. I also will offer my seat at times but I'd be more likely to offer it to a pregnant lady or elderly individual.

  • groups that opt to hold a pow-wow in the middle of the walkway
  • line cutting (or as bicker would say, "queue avoidance"); that goes for parades too
  • space hogging: I have no problem with somebody waiting hours for a parade, or the whole day for that matter, to get a good spot but please... within reason. Don't try to save space for 20 people! If those people want a spot, they can wait just like the rest of us
  • rude people who talk during the ride/show
  • profanity / smoking / spitting / bumping or anything that invades my personal space, limited as it may be
  • stroller derby
  • people who won't move to the end of the row. I'd hate it if I accidentally fell onto them as I was trying to get by :rolleyes1
  • people who pretend not to understand English. I can usually come up with some sign language that they will certainly understand

Oh my gosh, I have so many of these! I think a lot of them have already been said, so I'll just add on.
-I also hate when parents force their kids on rides. My mom and I were waiting in line for ToT and in front of us was a man and his daughter. The daughter, probably 7-ish, was crying and screaming and saying, "I don't wanna go on it!" So this continues and we get into the pre-show room and the lightning also freaks her out and she's screaming bloody murder because she is so scared. It was torture to know about, so my mom said, "You know, it seems your daughter doesn't really want to go on this. Maybe she can wait outside." Well, the man turned around and said, "Hey, lady. Don't tell me what to do with my kid!" And was just very rude in general. Well, these people ended up being in our elevator ride... It was so awful because she was terrified the entire time. When we got off, the guy turned to her and said, "See? Wasn't scary." The daughter, still crying, says, "It was scary, daddy, I hate you!" So anyway, long story short(too late for that now), I hate hate hate when people make their kids get on rides when they obviously don't want to go.
-I also can't stand inconsiderate people. We were waiting for SpectroMagic in MK and found a spot an hour before the parade was even going to start. We sat on the curb and waited for it. Well, five minutes before it's going to start this woman comes up and stands behind us, which is fine. She then decided to lean on my dad by slightly bending her knees and digging them into my dad's back. My dad said, "I'm sorry, but could you scoot back a little? Your knees are in my back." She stared at him like he was crazy, and, you'll never believe this, moved to the left and started leaning like that on my mom! My mom said, "Please, move back, you're digging your knees into my back!" So... I think after that, she finally got it. But sheesh!:sad2: We just all want to see the parade!

Man, it kind of feels good to get those off my chest. :thanks:
