What are your Pet Peeves?

We saw this one lady yelling at her kid outside Dinosaur and she said "I'm so mad I want to spit in your face" to a kid that couldn't have been older than 3. It really bothered me.

 What kind of parent would ever, ever say that to their child? I swear, they should have random Child Services agents walking around WDW, maybe then parents wouldn't act like animals.

My personal favorite is the person who runs to the line to put his/her arm out to stop everybody else so the remainder of his/her party of 10 can get in line ahead of you...as if my wife and I were going to put them "behind schedule" by getting there first. Then again, I think it's funny that they need to rush that fast to get in car 24 on Buzz rather than car 26... :lmao:

Wow, now THAT'S just rude. I am so glad I haven't run into any of THOSE people. I'd have to tell 'em off, and I don't do that very often.

My biggest problem at WDW is when I have been waiting for a parade for 45 min and at the last minute up comes a person or a group and pushes their way (or tries to) in front of myself and my children and surrounding guest! Very Rude! They need to come early and get their own spot! I had this happen on our last trip. Someone came up at last minute and started leaning over in front of me to take pictures totally ruining my view. They ran off the people to my right but I refused to move. She actually shoved me a little thinking I would move. I finally said excuse me but I am standing here. She told me that I needed to back up so she can take pictures. What?! I told her I have been waiting here for 45 min. and she should have done the same. Well , she really got mad then and called her posse and they all followed me and my kids around after the parade until I told a cast member about it. I guess they were trying to scare me. It made my oldest child nervous the rest of the night.pirate: princess:

The people that stop in the middle of the row annoy me. Especially when the CM constantly says "Keep moving all the way down to make room for everyone." Granted, when the show is not going to be crowded, it does seem pointless for 20 people to all be on the far side of the seats, but when the room is obviously going to be packed, get moving.

Personal pet peeve from last weeks trip...

We get to MK and are walking leisurely around the castle to Fantasyland. Instead of saying excuse me so that she could get by, I had a lady unexpectedly ram me from behind with her stroller and then say "I'm sorry"(like you didn't see me??) as she goes barreling by me. So I guess officially the first attraction I was on was the "stroller bruiser".

Wow, now that's rude!! And you just totally summed up my biggest pet peeve at WDW: I hate people that go out of their way to make someone else's vacation less magical.

I teach middle school, so I have to resist the urge to berate kids at WDW for their language. I have "tattled" before when I've seen a kid with their parents. (Very fun)

Neutral on that one... If it's one or two things, or not so obvious things, or mostly pointing... or younger kids I could see it. But as you describe it that would be over the top.

I only jumped in becuase of your post... I've never had the nerve, but thought it would be fun to to this. Explain stuff to my wife loudly... and be all totally fake. Just act like a know-it-all but be totally off. "You know, the Castle used to be over there" On POTC... "you know that's all real gold" TOT "This used to be a Holiday Inn"

Now a running commentary like that would be amusing!:rotfl:

When parents allow their kids to scream durning shows. If your kid is afraid of ITTBAB don't force them to stay.

I posted this on another board and I still stick by it......parents who feel the need to give a running commentary to their kids on every ride.
I never realized how much this happens and how annoying it is until my most recent trip. For example: We were on Pirates of the Caribbean and I had a dad with two kids behind me(probably around 6 or 7 yrs old). This was the dad...."Oh, look at the scary skeleton blowing in the wind......ooh, look at the big pirate ships, they are shooting at each other. Oooh, look at the pirate sleeping with the pigs....and look over there, it's Jack Sparrow....I wonder what he's doing there? Now look at the dog outside the cell...they want his key but he won't give it to them.....oooh, look it's Capt. Jack again. Where did he get all that money?"

:rolleyes1 Woops! Sorry. I do that with my son all the time when we go somewhere or when we are at the store or anything. I'll point out something and ask him questions about it. Just to explain why though, he is 2 years old and really learning to talk right now and form sentences and speech therapists tell parents to engage the kids in conversation. This helps them learn to communicate better. Asking questions about what they are seeing can help develop verbal skills and creative thinking as well. However, I understand that might be very annoying to another adult. I'll try to remember on our trip with our son not to do that :)

I agree. We were horrified. Dh and I looked at one another like "did she really just say that to that tiny little girl?!"
I can't imagine speaking to my son that way and especially in public with no shame whatsoever.

We have already talked about what we are going to do if our son starts getting tired, acting up, etc. at the parks. We will simply cease all activity and head back to the room to relax and watch some cartoons, nap, etc.
I think people really need to plan for the possibility that they may not get to see/do what they wanted to if they have a small child in tow.

I think it's a little different with a 2-year-old, as opposed to a 6 or 7-year old. ;) At 6 or 7, you should be able to understand what's going on for yourself. Or ask questions if you need to. You don't need a parent to explain it all to you.

Very true. I agree. Maybe the man was scared of the ride and he felt the need to talk to calm himself down :lmao:

1) When kids run hurtling past you, ducking under ropes to "cut" the line and then the parents stroll casually by you in line a few moments later 'cus they have to be with their kids dontchaknow

2) Grown men who watched me several different times my last Mommy/Daughter trip struggle to stand in the aisle on the bus and hold up my just turned 3 year old from falling down. I know it was my choice to get on the bus in the first place... but the lines were long and all the buses were crowded. Could a guy at least let me little girl sit down? Any guy??

3) When a cashier opened up a new line at the Pop Century food court, a guy in back of me ran over to the new line instead of letting the next person in line (me) go first. (It was one of the same guys who watched me struggle to keep my daughter from falling on the bus by the way - figures)

*sigh* Ah, yes, THOSE guys. :sad2:

So...in June 2004, there were times I made my kids (6 and 8) at the time stand on the bus with me so that a mommy (or daddy!) could sit down with the exhausted child in their arms. If kids can give up their seat, a grown man should be able to.

And in regard to #3...I've had that happen at the grocery store before too. How rude.

That is strictly un-patriotic! :)

Last Aug we walked out of CP from dinner and found a nice place where could set up my mini-tripod (8" tall or so) to take shots of Wishes. 5 minutes before the show started, a family of 8 walked up and stood right in front of us. They turned and smiled at one point when we asked them if they could move to the side...either they didn't speak English or were doing the faking that they didn't speak English. That was a tad frustrating...I showed them, though, I got better pictures of Illuminations the following night, anyway! :)

# 1- parade pushers! We had setup at Stars & Motors EARLY...had a great spot...when this family, that didn't speak English came beside us & then the MOM plopped the 2 youngest kids right in front of us! When the CM came by to make you move behind the line, I told my kids to NOT move. Then to top it off, MOM strikes again with stroller behind us pushing into the backs of our legs...but DAD with video camera goes over to the right of my daughter & starts blocking her view.... Evil Mom that I am, my kids had a gooey fruit rollup , I peeled it....and put it down on the pavement to the right of my daughter..that made Mr. Dad Camera guy stay away from her.. :woohoo:

# 2- my ex pulled the whole you kids are ruining my vacation screaming party with the kiddos. One very BIG reason he is an ex now. :rotfl2:
