What are your normal working hours?

7:45-2:15 (no lunch) 32.5 hours a week.
DH's hours are more fluid but works well more than his 40 hour work week.

9-5 with an hour lunch unpaid. I am salaried and more often than not end up working through lunch and often stay late. But I have 20 vacation, 10 sick/personal days, Fridays off in the summer, the week between christmas and new years and 10 other holidays. I also have a great boss that lets me work from home if a kid is sick and I can (sometimes they need too much attention)

Me, I work my DS business as needed.

My husband is a architectural consultant and spec writer. He starts around 8am and goes until 5:00-5:30, lunch break is hit or miss. (He tries to eat something, he is diabetic and shouldn't skip meals.) His days are spent either in the home office, on the phone with clients and writing, or traveling to client's offices and job sites. Once we've had supper, he normally watches tv for a little bit before getting back to work. In the evening he gets more writing done along with replying to emails he didn't get to during the day. Depending on deadlines, he works until midnight but has gone til 2am if needed. Then, on weekends, he still writes as required by deadlines. He is super busy right now, so he has been putting in 5-10 hours on the weekends too. Even when he takes a vacation day, he puts in a few hours.

Not sure I could shower and be ready for work in 15 minutes. You must be a quick showerer.

My workday constantly fluctuates.

I don't know what time I'm starting tomorrow until I finish working today.

I could start at 6 am on Monday and by Friday my start time is 4 pm.

My days off change too. Some times Sat & Sun are the weekend, other times it could be Wed & Thurs or Mon & Tues.

My workday is a minimum of 14 hours. After the first 6 hours, I get a 1 hour paid lunch, during which I am usually required to continue working.

7:15-3:05 is what I'm paid for. Actual time at work 6:45ish-3:15ish. During baseball season I'm out from 6:45 am 'til 6-9 pm M-F and Saturdays is usually 7:30-1

I would like the DIS and all Burglars to know I work 8;00- 4:30

and we need an address! ;)

I was a sub for years so worked school hours. Now I'm retired and clean the house once in awhile when I please.

M-F 9am-5pm with a 30 min lunch. All overtime I take time in lieu.

When not traveling I work from home mostly and log in around 9am and work until 4 or so. When traveling I am working as soon as I arrive at the airport. Usually travel 2 weeks a month and fly back on a friday where I do not work since I work long hours the other 4 days of the week.

Before I retired I worked 8 hour shifts that rotated every 30 days. 8am - 4pm, then 4pm - midnight, then midnight to 8am, then 6pm to 2am. Got a 45 min meal break IF you were not busy. Worked 4 days on, then 2 days off so your days off were different every week, repeat.

I'm a teacher, so my "contract" school day is 9-4. I usually get to school by 7:30 though, but do try to get out the door by 4:15.

Generally 9-5, with the understanding that I may come late/come early/leave late/leave early at random and (unless I abuse the privilege) without consequences. I could change my schedule whenever I felt like it, though I'd probably run it past my boss' secretary so she knows where to find me. Mind you, I also know I could be called a 2am, or on a weekend, or what have you and have to jump on an issue.

I work M-F 8-4:30 with 30 minutes unpaid lunch.

Dh is scheduled M-F 6-2, but he is normally stuck there until 3:30-4. If something breaks he's there until it is fixed. He usually ends up with at least 1 12 hour day a week, sometimes more. Since his new boss came last year he has also worked every Saturday unless he takes a vacation day on Friday, in which case he gets the weekend off. It's not unusual for new boss to schedule him for 12 hours on Saturday. Another new boss rule is if you take a vacation M-F you have to work the weekend before. The only way you can get the weekend before off is if you take the Friday before off. Since only one person can be on vacation at a time and everyone wants the weekend before their vacation off, only 2 vacations can be taken in any month. He also works around 8 to 10 Sundays a year and most minor holidays recognized by the company. The pay is great but we hate not seeing him. He's finishing up his degree so hopefully he will be able to switch careers at that point.

Does no one here work just 8 hours and get paid for lunch?? It looks like all are 8 1/2-9 hour days?? I retired a few months back but worked 8am-350pm- got paid for lunch and breaks and leave 10 minutes early for "clean up time"- that is a standard 40 hour pay week.
That would be illegal in California. A normal workday for a non-exempt (hourly) employee is 8 hours, plus a 1/2 hour lunch break. And that lunch break can not be taken sooner than 3 hours after you start work, nor later than 5 hours after you start work.
I worked 8 straight for over 25 years, including at my current employer until they got in trouble for it. The worst part was, they started requiring us to take a full hour meal break, meaning a 9 hour day. Now, you just have to take 30 minutes, which is the state minimum.

We got time off for lunch but it was paid time- that can't be illegal to pay someone while they are eating or out to lunch! The paid us while we were at lunch and paid us during break time.

8:00am-4:30pm - 30 minute unpaid lunch. These hours work for me as I wouldn't want to stay any later - cuts into my gym time if I would ever have to.
...and don't get in my way at 4:30pm - because i'm out the door. :rotfl2:

I work T-F 7:30am-5pm (an hour off unpaid for lunch and 2 fifteen paid breaks), 1 Monday 7:30am-4 and the other Monday I am off.

I think what TV guy was referring to (but I may be mistaken) is in CA, if an employer is paying for your lunchtime, they are responsible for you. If you leave the property and injured, employers are liable. Last time we had the "what are your hours", I think it was mostly NYC that built their lunch time into their hours and most everyone else was at their work for 8.5 to 9 hours, paid for 8 but had to take either a 30 minute or hour unpaid lunch. Pretty much, in CA it is the law after 6 hours you must have a lunch period away from your work so employers aren't going to pay you for not doing actual work. Since the breaks are paid time, a lot of employers require you to stay within the area. If we want to drive down the street to get coffee at a well known place, we have to get a time off sheet signed which is ripped up when we return. Since lunch isn't paid, we go as we please.

I just hit my 20 year mark so now getting 14 hours a month vacation, 8 hours a month sick leave, most holidays including ones we didn't use to get (Cesar Chavez day which is today and I'm off), MLK day, President's, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving plus Friday,, NY and Christmas. We also get 3 personal holidays a year.
