What are your normal working hours?

8:00 4:30, M-F and in addition I'm on-call nights and weekends for a 7-day stretch once every 8 weeks. Extra hours as required and 1 hour for lunch, which I rarely take. Paid or unpaid :confused3? I'm on salary so I guess it doesn't matter.

week one 0700 - 1500 monday to friday
week two 2300 - sunday to friday
week three 1500 - 2300 monday to friday
Holidays 28 days a year plus bank holidays (8 a year)

Does no one here work just 8 hours and get paid for lunch?? It looks like all are 8 1/2-9 hour days?? I retired a few months back but worked 8am-350pm- got paid for lunch and breaks and leave 10 minutes early for "clean up time"- that is a standard 40 hour pay week.

I really don't think a 40 hour work week is standard anymore. Most places call it 40 working hours, so your lunch isn't counted. And I think a lot of places push for a 50+ hour week.

I know DH constantly gets emails from the CEO telling him he should be staying longer. "At 7pm no one is at their desks..." was a recent one.

Rotate 0600-1800 Monday to Thursday
Than. 1800 -0600 Monday to Thursday.

I can pick as long as I do my full 8 hours including an hour lunch break. Usually I do a 9.30-5.30 Mon-Fri however I have to work occasionally Saturdays/evenings if the students have training or if I have to take them to a volunteering role. However I get that time back. I accrue so much TOIL. I had about 3 full days last term. This is my role as a volunteer coordinator in a University.

I'm also a halls subwarden (I think U.S. call them dorm residents or something?) I don't get paid but I do get my accommodation for free in the centre of London (Right next to Hyde Park). There I'm rota'd on 6pm-8am, one week Monday, next week Wed-Thurs, next week Fri-Sunday. The weekend I have to be in the halls all day and night.

It's fairly good :p

Usually I work 8-2 with one random eight-hour day each week. My work location schedules people from 7am to 7:30pm on regular days, so I can be scheduled anytime during those hours.

I'm a teacher so I work M-F from 7-3 with 40 minutes for lunch and 2 planning periods (50 min each) - if I'm lucky that day!

I substitute teach, so it varies by school, but generally somewhere between 8:00 and 9:00 to somewhere 2:45 and 3:45, with a half hour lunch. I usually work a couple of days a week.

2000-0630 4 nights a week, baby! That is with a 30 minute UNpaid lunch each shift...which most of us would prefer not to take (and go home at 0600 instead), but supervisors are always saying that we can't do that due to employment laws. Except that they can ASK us to work through lunch and leave 30 minutes earlier if THEY want us to not leave during the shift.

Technically, 7:30-4:30 MF with a one hour lunch.

What really happens: I wake up at 5am, start working on stuff I didn't get done the day before, get to the office by 7:30-7:45am, work through my lunch, and leave at 4:30pm.

Except for Wednesdays - I work at home on Wednesdays. So I generally start at 5am, take a break at 7:30am to take the kids to school, get back before 8am, and work until about 1pm, take a break for about an hour to do dishes/laundry/etc, jump back on until 3 when I leave to pick DS15 and his friends from school, then work until about 5pm or so.

I am salary. I have unlimited sick days (because unless we are dying, we pretty much just call in sick and say we will just work from home), and 18 days of vacation/floating holidays other than the 9 legal holidays. And we work 1/2 days the Friday before holiday weekends and 1/2 day "summer hours" 8 Friday's of my choosing between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

I can work wherever I have a wireless signal, so I am pretty much always online and available. This is pretty typical in my company. My boss routinely works all day, every day including nights, weekends, holidays, vacations, etc, so it's kind of hard to complain that I am working 45-50 hours. I think most companies expect a salaried employee is going to just work until the job is done (which mine never is....)

The nice thing about my company is that if one of my kids are sick, I don't have to lie or try to find someone to stay with them - I just text my boss and tell her one of the kids is sick and I will be working from home that day. And since I work "24/7 because I am a mom"(to quote a PP), it is nice to have the flexibility in the 45-50 hours/week I work at my "2nd, part-time" job :rolleyes1in the business world.

My wife has an 8 hour day with a paid 30 minute lunch (7:15-3:15). She's had these hours since August. She's 44 & I'm 48. That's the only job either of us have had with a paid lunch.

I am salaried and I work 8-4, and don't take a lunch. My job is incredibly flexible, so if I want to leave early to go to my kids' games, I can do that and make up the time. I have three weeks vacation and unlimited sick time, although for the six years I have worked here, I have only taken three sick days when I had the flu a few years ago. I do work weekends every once in a while if I need to catch up, and there are special events a couple times of year when I have to work extra. I check and reply to email at home. But for the most part, no one is counting as long as I am getting my work done.

8-5. Sometimes I move it a 1/2 hour either way depending on my family, but it's always the 9 hours. I work through lunch more often than not but leaving an hour early is not an option.

Dh works for the same company and comes and goes whenever he needs to, usually 9:30-4:30, but he has to take a lot of calls outside of those hours. It's still more convenient for us with the kids than my hours.

One of the things I love most about my job is the flexibility.
We have "core hours" from 10 - 2 when everyone is expected to be around, but if you have a day or two when that doesn't happen it's not a big deal. Other than that, as long as you get your hours in and get your work done, no one really cares what hours you work. Obviously if I have a meeting to support or something I have to be there for that.
Lunch isn't paid, and I've never had a job with a paid lunch.

Generally I work normal business hours, which is Monday to Friday starting anywhere from 6 to 10am. Usually I arrive between 745 and 815. I have access to the office 24/7/365 however, so there are occasions where I work nights and weekends.

I work a 30 hour reduced-work schedule...all from home.

I generally work 8-5 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and 8-12 on Wednesdays, with a couple extra hours thrown in on the weekend or evening to make up for things like fixing lunch, playing with my daughters for 10 minutes, etc. I have a nanny who comes to my house to watch my girls while I work.

I work 8-5 with an hour for lunch. DH works 8-5:30, usually, (not sure about his lunch breaks) but also does a lot of work at home. We're both Monday to Friday. How about you?

8-4, work two days a week from home

I have a very flexible work schedule - right now I'm working 8-2:30 M-W and 8-5 Thursday/Friday so I can get my kids off the bus 3 days a week. But I"m not in the office all of those hours - many days I leave early and either work from home or run errands. As long as I get my work done nobody monitors when I'm actually in my office.

I technically work 8-4:30 with a 30 min lunch, but I am usually in the office by myself most of the time...so I really work from about 8:15-4:00 and skip lunch. I can work from home when I feel like it also and generally do so every Friday during the summer.

M-F, I work 8-4:30 with 30 minutes for lunch.

Dh goes in at 7 but he gets off whenever his supervisor decides, depending on how much they have to do that day. Sometimes it's 3 and sometimes it's 5:30. Sometimes he only has to work half a day on Friday but sometimes he gets stuck working half a day on Saturdays too.

I like having my hours stay consistent personally.
