What are your favorite REALLY low calorie snacks & meals ?

I'm moving forward whether my body agrees with me or not;) Wish me luck

I like your attitude, especially the part about moving forward. Having the scale go up is discouraging for me too, so I'm trying to start losing as soon as I see it inch up.

I like the Quaker Chewy bars. They are 100 calories and make a great alternative to not eating at all or eating unhealthy snacks. They have NO High Fructose Corn Syrup, which is so bad for your health. Once I limited the amount of HFCS I was eating, I quickly lost 80 pounds. I didn't exercise any more than normal, just ate a little better. And I started eating every four hours. This let me eat less and allowed my stomach to shrink so I couldn't overeat if i wanted to.

Laughing Cow now has blue cheese and a queso type. I love a couple wedges of the blue cheese w/ two sliced tomatoes from my garden. Makes an amazing dinner.

Gazpacho. You can eat bowl after bowl after bowl without any guilt.

Careful about the sugar in all the fat-free processed foods. I'm not a fan of low fat diets for weight loss (or ever), but that's another thread. ;)

Thank you. What prompted this return to diet and exercise was a bit of a slide back with putting some of the weight back on since Thyroid surgery. I got on the scale last night and was so upset, now not only do I hate my stupid scar and my lack of 'go get em' but the idea of having to re-lose weight was just one compromise too many. No way am I going to let myself slide back to where I was and I don't have the heart to readjust my ticker so I am digging in my heels. I'm moving forward whether my body agrees with me or not;) Wish me luck

I'm sorry to hear about your surgery. :(

Thyroid issues are a pain when it comes to losing weight. I have an underactive thyroid and there are times I feel like my body is just working against me in my pursuit to lose the weight. Could that added pounds be a side effect of the surgery? I wasn't sure so I thought I would ask.

Do you live near a Wegman's grocery store? They have these great crispy almost rice cake but not as dense things called Coco Pops. They are 16 calories each and are very tasty.

Best of luck with your weight loss and recovery! :)

Apples: Braeburn or Fuji are the only ones I will buy - sweet/tart and firm
Cantalope: Tuscan or French Kiss only
Stone fruits - orchard fresh or from a farmers market, the ones in the stores are gross, mushy and have no taste.
Grapes - grocery store seem to be decent, I like green w/a tinge of yellow, DD likes red seedless and DH likes the really dark ones, all seem to be good.
Watermelon - hit and miss
Strawberries - I go by smell, not looks. They might look tiny and sickly but when they smell great they generally taste great.
Blue & Rasp Berries - US grown only and Pacific NW cranks out some good ones.
I love all of those. Plus I like carrots, broccoli, cauliflower and almost all vegetables. Roasting vegetables (green beans, asparagus, broccoli, squash) with little olive oil really enhances the flavor.

I love eating strawberries. Of course I eat WAY too many in one sitting.
cantaloupe, honey dew, watermelons, nectarines, almonds, pecans, or honey peanuts.

If you want something a little on the warmer side. I made these once before.
Take a tomato, slice it in half sideways so there's a top and bottom. Squeeze out the extra juices.
In a bowl, mix mozzarella cheese, fresh chopped basil, and balsamic vinegarette, and minced garlic if you want to. Then spoon it into the tomato halves and bake for 15 minutes.

If you want to make a mini capreses. Slice the tomato in half, juice it, then continue to slice it. Place it on top of half a biscuit and add the cheese mix to the top. Again bake for 15 minutes.

Balsamic vinegarette is one of my favorites. I used to buy Ken's, but I've found Wishbone has a good flavor and more healthy than Ken's.

Pirates booty -wisconsin cheddar flavor -65 calories for .5 oz

Cottage cheese with?? I get the 90 calorie cottage cheese snack size and have it with either fruit (fresh or canned) with a little cinnamon sprinkled on the cheese
Or I go savory and have it with sliced tomato and basil, or cucumbers or artichoke hearts.
I put freshly ground black pepper on top of the cottage cheese

Beets are filling and low cal if you can tolerate them

Also Pop chips?
You wouldn't want to eat them regularly (very salty)
but for chips they are really low cal
120 calories for 19 chips
