What are you reading?

I just finished "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and really enjoyed it - it was also a quick, easy read for the summer.

I read that a few months ago and absolutely loved it. I would recommend "the Lady and the Unicorn" for more Chevalier bliss.
Currently, I'm reading "the House of Spirits" by Allende, one of my favorite books from high school that I finally got around to buying. When I'm done with that, I've got her new one, "Zorro", waiting patiently. And when I'm done with that, I've been meaning to read the "His Dark Materials" trilogy and reread the chronicles of Narnia in time to see "the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" in theaters.

I'm such a complete book nut.

I have "The Historian" on deck. Please let me know what you think of it. Is it summer or winter reading? :)

I would definitely call it winter reading. It's a thick book. Nearly 700 pages and full of details. It's on the literary side, but still very interesting. I wouldn't call it a page-turner, but you do find yourself pulled into the story and the places. When she describes Romania, you really feel like you're in Romania. It has a gothic feel to it, as well. I'm enjoying it.

I just finished reading Citizen Soldiers by Stephen Ambrose, an account of WWII from D day to the end of the war as seen by American GI's.

One of my favorites, this was the fifth time I've read it!

I just finished "Best Laid Plans" by Sidney Sheldon because I read "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" by him-I like his books now. Last week I read "Echoes" by Danielle Steel. I've always enjoyed her books (except one-can't remember the name of it-too whimsical, not realistic). Boy, have I been reading lately! Next up, one by Jodi Picoult, then Debbi Macomber.

I am a big Kellerman fan, too! I agree the ending wasn't quite what I expected, but I wasn't disappointed.

Chattyaholic -
I used to read all of Robin Cook's work. He would come up with the absolute most terrifying concepts, start out fine, and then grind it absolutely into the ground. How can he come up with such scary plots and then go off on such STUPID tangents? He is perfectly believeable for about the first half, then he just goes completely off the deep end. Especially in that book a few years back about E-Coli (Or was it Mad Cow?) where he was going along with a very realistic, very scary story then he just totally decompensates into this mess of ridiculous events. Unfortunate. I think he should sell his ideas to other authors and let them write the books.

I'm reading the series of Miss Julia books by Ann B. Ross

THE MIRACLE OF ST. ANTHONY. Written by Adrian Wojnarowski. So far, it's a great high school basketball book.

Another book I read lately is The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It is a book that was very hard to put down. It might be in the teen section, but it definitely worth the read.

That's a great book.

Just finished The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. It was beautiful and sad and at times, really funny. I highly recommend it :)

I picked up a copy of The Time Traveler's Wife yesterday. I'm only 3-4 pages into it and I've underlined like crazy! LOL!

Kellerman is one of my faves. I just finished "Rage." It was really good though it rushed the ending.

I've read all of Kellermans books, and I wasnt' that crazy about Rage. Conspiracy Club and Twisted were better than Rage. I was sort of thinking "thats it?" for Rage? It was a lamish ending.

Of all the Kellerman books, the older ones are better. I like the one when the parent is accused of Marchusean by proxy, and the one when the guy sets fire to Alex's house. Butchers theater (the first one) is actually really good.

This is such a great trilogy! I've been needing to reread them.

I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray (excellent!) and I'm working on finishing Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and rereading Harry Potter.

Just finished reading the Narrows by Michael Connelly, it was excellant.

Thanks. I'll save it for those snowy, Sunday afternoons. :)

I loved that book. Such a sad story, but told in such a touching way.
