What are you reading?

I'm reading Water for Elephants.

I just finished "Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind Little Women" and "Alcott in Her Own Time: A Biographical Chronicle of Her Life, Drawn from Recollections, Interviews, and Memoirs by Family, Friends, and Associates."

Next I'm moving on to "Appetite for Life" -- a bio of Julia Child.

Those sound good! Thanks for sharing the titles.

I just started Mountains Beyond Mountains by Tracy Kidder. My minister Tim describes it like this:
“Mountains Beyond Mountains” tells the inspiring and human story of Dr. Paul Farmer, and his crusade to bring healthcare to Haiti and other forgotten corners of the globe. It is a deeply human story. It reveals the depth of poverty in Haiti, and opens our eyes to the need for equal access to medical care for all. It is a world-changing book, grounded in some deeply moving accounts of the heroic women and men who work hard to heal the world.

Just finished reading Cemetery Dance by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child last night. That book was a page turner, kept me riveted.

Today I started the latest Sookie Stackhouse book...Dead in the Family. Hope it's good.

Oh, I want to read that one. I've read the entire series and I've been waiting for Cemegery Dance to come out in paperback. Right now I'm reading 'The Memorist', the sequel to 'The Reincarnationist'. I'm about 100 pages in so far and it's very good.

I'm in the middle of Lottery by Patricia Wood. It's pretty good!

If you like The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and/or House Rules, you may like Lottery because the books are a little similar.

I'm reading Meet the Spellmans. It's the first in a series about a family-run PI agency in San Francisco. So far, so good.

I love that series!

I have a backlog of books right now. I just read Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman which was great. I'm now reading Major Pettigrew's Last Stand which is very good. Next up--the new Sookie Stackhouse book and Fever Dream by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Childs--their newest Agent Pendergast book.

I just finished "The Art of Racing in the Rain." I loved it.

I'm debating what my next book will be. Torn between "Handle with Care" by Jodi Picoult and a book called "Kicked, Bitten, and Scratched" which is about a school I am hoping to go to for a certificate program after I get my degree in 2 years and is required reading for the school.

I just bought the new release in a series that I have been reading for about 15 years; A River in the Sky, from the Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters. The books are phenomenal mysteries/ historical novels about an early 20th century husband and wife egyptologist team. The author has a PhD in Egyptology and inserts the characters into actual events. So so good and educational!
Love that series - and I didn't realize there was a new one! Thanks for the heads-up.

I just finished rereading "Life of Pi". Before that I read "Her Fearful Symmetry" which I HATED. I was so looking forward to it since I loved "Time Traveler's Wife".

I've finished Winter's Heart by Robert Jordan. It was as enjoyable as all the rest of the series. After reading the last three books, each all around 800 pages long, I think I will take a little break and read a couple of shorter books. In a couple of weeks I'll pick back up where I left off and get the rest of the series read. I've accumulated about 40 books while reading this series and they keep crying out to me to be read.

The two most memorable books I've read recently are "Water for Elephants" and "The Book Thief". I've just finished reading "Last Chance" by Christy Reece, the most recent in a fictional series about a company called Last Chance Rescue that is called in to rescue people who have been kidnapped. They are pretty "light" reading.

just finished Sarah's Key, a woman I w/o with raved about it and lent it to me. today I started With the Old Breed by EB Sledge. we just finished watching The Pacific and its really good, very interesting.

I am reading a really good book call " American Wife." I can't put it down. Before that I read a good book called "Crazy Ladies" that book was also really good.
