What Are You Reading Right Now?

I think it was this thread that I had mentioned I was reading Salem Falls by Jodi Picoult. It took me a while to get through it, not because I wasn't enjoying it, but because I have had so much work to do lately.

Anyway, I finished it a few minutes ago and wow----did that last paragraph surprise me!! I was at the last part and I was thinking about a feeling of closure with the book and wham.....

I agree, I was a bit shocked, I had to read it a few times to understand it
I am now reading Mercy, also by Jodi Piccolut, I usually FLY thru her books, this one is on the slow side

I'm currently reading Creation in Death (JD Robb) and John Adams. Both are pretty good.

I saw a post earlier that I totally agree with. I used to love Patricia Cornwell's novels, but after The LAst Precinct her writing totally went downhill.

I don't know what to read next, but I'm trying to get the books in James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series. I think I might also pick up the 7-11th books in Terry Goodkind's series (way too long of a series, but I'm glad he's concluded it). I'm eagerly awaiting the final book in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time Series (now I have to wait longer while his wife and another author finish up compiling his notes and writing).

I love books, devour them, keep buying them and will reread them many many times. DH hates when I buy books, but I read them over and over again.

Oh, I love Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita blake series (though I could use less of the erotica of the past few books) and Nora Roberts Key trilogy as well. I can't wait for the rest of the Blood Brothers trilogy either.

I could go on forever, can you tell I love books? :cool1:

Mercy was one of my least favorite of Jodi Picoult's books. It had a good plotline but just wasn't very interesting to me. I loved Second Glance and My Sister's Keeper as well as A Perfect Match.

Just finished the Christopher Killer (like Patricia Cornwell for teens-really good) and now I'm on to a Great and Terrible Beauty. Still on my young adult kick!

Ok, you guys. I just got past the kite tournament in The Kite Runner. Is this the only disturbing part or does it get worse? What happened to that character was not what I thought was going to happen, if you get my drift.

Do I need to be prepared for more or was that the really bad part?

That's the worst of it but the repurcussions continue. Just when you think things are getting better, WHAM! It was a roller coaster for me.

I'm currently re-reading Prince Caspian so I can be prepared for the new movie. It's been so long since I've read those books.

I'm reading a very fluff book, but totally funny..
The Woman Who Is Always Tan And Has A Flat Stomach...And Other Annoying People- by Lauren Allison and Lisa Perry.

I am just about done with The Book Thief. I will most likely finish it tonight or tomorrow. What an outstanding book.

I just started this one today! Very interesting writing style and I'm definitely enjoying it so far :)

I thought that was the most distubring part of the book, but there are other thought provoking parts in it.

I thought it was a great read. Great writing.

It is a different writing style. I really enjoyed the book (The Book Thief). I thought it gave a good perspective of WWII from a German girl.

My DD is taking it to WDW with us tomorrow so she can read it. Right now she is reading The Other Boleyn Girl.

Looking for reviews now. This past weekend, I picked up Jodi Picoult's "Change of Heart". I'd love to hear reviews from people here who've read it. In the meantime, I'm reading Susan Wiggs' Winter Lodge Typical romance with a happy ending (even though I haven't finished it, it's extremely predictable).

I enjoyed it. It was one of her better books, but it was kind of a theme that has been used before. After you read it, PM me and let me know the book/movie you thought it was similar to.

Did you read A Thousand Splendid Suns as well? I've heard it was even better.

Have fun in WDW, my book friend! :)

Dexter in the Dark

I was inspired to rea the Dexter books after watching the show on CBS. I think the series, so far, is better than the first book [b/c it is more fleshed out].

I'm reading Change of Heart right now. I'm already seeing that I think there's going to be a "shocking" twist at the end. I just have a feeling things are not as they seem. I may be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time THAT has happened.:thumbsup2

I also picked up the Costant Princess by Phillipa Gregory. I read The Other Boleyn Girl real recently, so it'll be interesting.

Finished "Year of Pleasures" by Elizabeth Berg last night, I have to say not one of best....

The following is what I have on hand to start tonight, any suggestions or reviews for:

Light on Snow ~ Anita Shreve
Sweetwater Creek ~ Anne Rivers Siddons
Farewll My Queen ~ Chantal Thomas
Strange Fits of Passion ~ Anita Shreve
Where the River Runs ~ Patti Callahan Henry
Hidden ~ Victoria Lustbader
Her Infinite Variety ~ Pamela Rafael Berkman
The Exploits & Andentures of Miss Alethea Darcy ~ Elizabeth Aston
The Big House ~ George Howe Colt
Whisteling in the Dark ~ Lesley Kagen
The Doctor's Wife ~ Elizabeth Brundage
The Preacher's Daughter ~ Beverly Lewis
Robbing the Bees ~ Holley Bishop

That is what is on my read next book shelf......any thoughts?

In addition to (or, more accurately, as a distraction from) my Research Methods text, I'm reading Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions by Ben Mezrich.

We saw '21' about a week and a half ago and I was inspired to finally start reading the book.

I swear, if I don't have 50 books on my 'To Be Read' shelf, I don't have one. :sad2:

::sigh:: How I wish someone would pay me to simply read books all day long.

:flower3:

I saw a news segment about the MIT students and their Vegas scheme. It was told in a POV from a person that was not in their circle that they brought in. I don't remember how he came to be involved, (I think it was drinking at the same places?) but it was quite a story! I'd like to read the book too.

After we saw the movie, someone told me that they'd seen an interview with one of the students that was involved who said the movie ended up being about 75% true to the actual events, which was kind of neat to hear.

The book is set up much differently than the movie, however. Normally I'm a pretty staunch read the book then see the movie type, however in this case I'm glad I did the opposite. I'm not sure if I would've gotten right into it, otherwise.
