Thanks to those of you who recommended the Plum series by Evanovich- I'm on the 4th and loving it- I don't often laugh out loud with books and movies and I keep snorting and bursting out laughing with these! :thumbsup2

I love her writing style. I am always laughing out loud when I read them. I wish she would write faster, I need more of them.

DH always knows when I am reading one of the Stephanie Plum books - because I keep cracking up!

Currently reading The Singing Sword by Jack Whyte, it's book 2 of 6 in The Camulod Chronicles. it's a twist on the Arthurian legend, starting with his Roman great grandfathers and the creation of Excalibur, right now books one and two focus mostly on 5th century Roman Britain at the end of the Roman empire. It's historical fiction of an era that I hadn't really considered before.

I just read the first 3, zipped right through and love them. Looking to download the 4th too! Guess my house will have to clean itself!

DH and I are sharing a copy of "Watchmen" (the original graphic novel. He takes it to work and reads it during lunch, I get it in the evening at home.

Currently I'm reading North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell. I watched the movie on Netflix instant watch about a month ago and just had to read the book. It's like a realistic Pride & Prejudice. So far the movie has been pretty close to the book (with the exception of the scene where Margaret first meets Mr. Thornton, which never happened in the book. You'll know which scene I mean when you watchthe movie.) :)

I just finished 1984 last night. I was supposed to read it in high school but either didn't, skimmed it, or read the Cliff Notes. What a remarkable book.

Last night I started "The Gods of Newport" by John Jakes.
Historical tale of the mansions in Newport & all that went on to produce the $$$$$ to get them.
So far so good...

Just finished reading The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill. I think it is called Someone knows my Name in the US. I must say that i enjoyed it a lot.

I just finished reading Cutting for Stone by Edward Verghese. This is a story about an identical twin who was born of a nun and a surgeon in Ethopia. It is the story of how that happened and how their lives turned out. Very good character development. Good story.

I have now started Drood which is written by Dan Simmons (author of The Terror. If you know anything about Dan Simmons, he takes a true story and adds a fictional story into it. This Drood book has something to do with Charles Dickens going crazy. It's a huge book so I should be entertained for awhile!

One Day at a Time by Danielle Steel.

Just in the beginning but a good, fast read

Oh, I just finished that, too!! I loved it - I read the last part of it on my Iphone using the Kindle App while I stood in line at WDW last week!!!!

It was a little weird to be reading about the surgical techniques used to repair fistulas, then to look up and see Cinderella's Carrousel whirling away....:rotfl::rotfl:

I bet!!

I loved all the "surgical" talk in that book. I find all that stuff fascinating. I loved the character of Marion as well as Ghosh. Shiva was just odd.

It was one of those books I didn't think I would really get into and then found I couldn't put it down. I found it by surfing on the Kindle books part of Amazon and read the reviews - they were all great!! So I downloaded it (breaking my "never pay more than 9.99 for a Kindle edition" rule because I forgot to check the price - I think it was 11.99 instead). So worth it!!! I really liked the story and the characters were so well done. Just a really, really good book, I thought.

I'm currently reading Jodi Picoult's Handle With Care, Wendy Spero's Microthrills, and I just finished Judith Viorst's book about her son Alexander (remember him? He had a no good, very bad day!) and his wife and 3 children living with her and her husband for three months while they were doing some home renovations. It was cute..
