I am reading Metro Gril now by Janet Evanovich and I just finished Motor Mouth. I read them out of order.

Anyways Motor Mouth was so funny and a good read. :thumbsup2

I wish I would have read them in the correct order but oh well.

What is the correct order? I know it goes 1-13, but where do the in between novels fit in? I want to start reading the series. Thanks!

I am reading One For the Money and Pillars of the Earth. I finally finished Wicked.

These two are like a little series of their own.

Read Metro Girl first than Motor Mouth.

Thanks to those that recommended & told me to stick with The Time Traveler's Wife. I just finished it the other day (while at the OKW pool :goodvibes ) & really did enjoy it.

It started out a little confusing to me & I wasn't sure how I would like it as I don't like books with a storyline that I know "couldn't really happen" but I really enjoyed the characters in the book.

Thanks again - it's worth reading!!!

A great thread!

Let me first preface this and say that I have been reading books that are on major "classic" reading lists for about 3 years now.

I've been doing that as well! Currently reading - The Great Gatsby - F. Scott Fitzgerald. The author's references of minorities and their place in society has intrigued me. Archaic and so assuming. It's hard to believe such thought was common place such a short time ago. Though not the theme of the book - I think that has stood out the most to me.

I just finished John Grisham's new one - The Appeal. It gave me more perspective on the political underbelly of the electoral process.

A thread on the dis titled

What Are You Reading Right Now? ;)

I'm currently finishing the Circle Trilogy by Nora Roberts....I also just finished "Eat Pray Love" adored it....Skinny ***** was hysterical...not sure what my next book will be but you all have given me some ideas!! I read about 2 books a week sometimes more just depends on work

I just finished "Into the Wild" and started one in spanish "El Plan Infinito" (Isabel Allende) I read one in english and then one in spanish. Isabel Allende is one of the best latin American writers.

Her books are in english as well, she's amazing. :flower3:

Another one for Duma Key. So far it's excellent. I so missed reading King :goodvibes

I finished The Appeal by John Grisham. I started the newest James Patterson book yesterday in the womans murder club called 7th Heaven. I have a little over 100 pages left. It is very odd for me to read a book in a weekend, but it is the older Patterson style that I like. My kid choice next is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I want to see what that is all about since a few kids in my classroom are reading it.

Right now, I'm reading Daddy's Girl by Lisa Scottoline. I'm loving it! I don't think the title is overly relevant, and the picture on the cover is kind of misleading, but it's an excellent book.

Add me to the list of those re-reading classics -- [The Great Gatsby is a great read -- the symbolism is great.] I've read The House of the Seven Gables & To Kill a Mockingbird. I am currently on a light read -- In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash -- not a classic - but entertaining.

I will never ever read anything by Grisham, though -- personal reasons.

I haven't gotten around to reading Duma Key yet. I wanted to see what everyone thought about it. I did enjoy the old Stephen King novels like The Shining and Salem's Lot, but I didn't care for The Stand. Hopefully, it's more like The Shining and less like The Stand.
I'm finishing T. Jefferson Parker's newest, L.A. Outlaws. It's been a pretty good book, but then again, I like the author. Tuesdays with Morrie is on deck.

Although The Stand is one of my favorites....I will say Duma Key is more on the lines of The Shining and Salem's Lot. I think King's writing changed after his car accident slightly so it might not be totally what you like.

I agree, I couldn't get past the first 10 Pages of "Lisey's Story.":confused3 I also didn't finish "Cell" either. I started "Duma Key"today, and so far, after 4 pages its holding my attention....;)

It took me forever to get into Lisey's Story...but once I did I enjoyed it. Cell hooked me at first and then blah!! HATED the middle to end. I was so disappointed. My family and I have a theory...we think his wife wrote it. It was shortly after his recovery from the accident, I think. Or she finished it because it is comparable to her book. It is my least favorite of his, that's for sure.

You will enjoy Duma Key.

I'm finally reading "Angela's Ashes." I'm about a quarter of the way through it and frankly, I'm not enjoying the experience. The family is dirt poor, the father comes home drunk and makes them sing patriotic Irish songs, one of his brothers or sisters dies, etc. So they move back to Ireland, where they're even poorer, more kids die, and the father drinks away his paycheck and makes them sing Irish songs.

It's just one damn thing after another. I'm about ready to give up.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I HATED and LOATHED this book!!! My SIL and I happened to be reading it at the same time and all we kept on saying was "Och, aye" b/c that is what the mother said the entire time in the book!!!! I wanted to throw that book against the wall so many times that I lost count!!!!

My first Picoult was also My Sister's Keeper, did you know they are making it into a movie?

Yes I just noticed it on her web site. Not sure how I will like it with them going younger with the 2 girls. I mean how young will Anna be? I would like to see them stick with her going to the attorney alone. I mean Elle Fanning is 10? Will it be believe able that a 10 year old would take this step?
Actually, the Fanning girls are not going to play the sisters. Here's the scoop from Wikipedia:

Dakota and Elle Fanning were originally set to play the sisters but Dakota changed her mind when she found out she would have to shave her head to play the Leukemia-suffering character of Kate. When they dropped out they were replaced with Sofia Vassilieva and Abigail Breslin.

Sophia is 15 yo and Abigail is 11 yo. That age range sounds about right for the girls in the book.
