I just finished Bufflehead Sisters and passed it on to a co-worker and will start Between Friends tonight.\

Finished Handle With Care by Jodi Picoult. I really enjoyed the book, but wasn't crazy about the ending. It was kind of predictable & could have ended a different way, IMO.

Started Prayers For Dallas last night on the recommendation from someone on this thread or the previous one. Looking forward to engrossing myself in it at the OKW pool today!

Hi Melsmice!! I'll be spending the next week at OKW - arriving tomorrow night! If I see you around the pool I'll stop and say hi!

LOL - we are at the pool literally every day. Off in the little alcove behind the slide. Me, my 3 adult DD's (well, 20, 17 & 17) & my DH. I'll have my head buried in a book at all times!

Maybe we'll get a chance to actually meet!

How ironic! I received the newest "Miss Julia" book today in the mail. This series of books are by Ann B. Ross and are "gentle reads". These were favorites of my Mom. We had the Memorial for my Mom today; she died on April 1. It just won't be the same without her to talk to about it.

"The Kiss" by Kathryn Harrison. It's an older book that came out about 10 yrs ago.

It's a memoir that details the author's relationship (in every aspect) with her father. They carried on an incestuous affair for two years before she was able to break free and move on. I wouldn't recommend this book because she's too superfluous in her writing style. The relationship disgusted me and the story wasn't that great, period.

The only reason I purchased this book is because I read another book by the same author that I really liked.

I'm done with Just Take My Heart by Mary Higgins Clark. It is not one of her better books. I'm not sure that I would even recommend it to anyone.

I couldn't decide if I was ready or not to start the next Robert Jordan book in his Wheel of Time series. I get so caught up in them. Hmmm, decisions, decisions!

So, got up this morning and decided a good dose of Jack Reacher would be right up my alley. I've started Killing Floor by Lee Child. It's his first book of his Jack Reacher series. I haven't read them in order.

Right now just a ton of Doctor Who novels since I'm on the waiting list for the new True Blood.

Just finished "Peter and the Sword of Mercy." I thought it was well written. I've loved the whole series.

Now, I'm reading Peggy Vincent's "Baby Catcher." It's really interesting!

I've been reading a lot lately.

Last week I finished up "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". This week I finished "The Girl That Played with Fire".

I loved both those books and I can't wait for the next one now!

Since I am waiting I purchased "Water For Elephants". I finished that up in 2 days. I really enjoyed it. It was a nice easy read but it was so good. I think I could actually read that one again, I enjoyed it so much.

So today I bought the first Sookie Stackhouse book. I've read about a chapter. Its okay so far. Not sure how I feel about it yet.

And thank you to those that recommended "The Book Thief" on the other thread. It took me awhile to finish that one since I just didn't/couldn't find time to read but I cried through the entire ending of it. I finished it up at the car dealership waiting on our new car and I was crying my eyes out. Some poor guy was asking me about my Nook and I am trying not to let him see I was crying and I had to politely tell him that I needed to finish it and really couldn't talk right now! OMG awesome book. One that definetly stays with you.

Does anyone else have the Nook and has used the Lend Me feature? Does it work well?

No one I know has the device and curious about it.

I loved all these books and am currently reading The Girl Who Played with Fire...but thought the Sookie Stackhouse books were :confused3. Read the first 2 then stopped. It was just bad Twilight with "spice." Twilight was bad enough!

Oh jeez, I probably will not enjoy them so much then. I read the Twilight series and enjoyed parts of the stories but I didn't love them like so many seem to have. I really like books that have more substance to them however I will read almost anything and most of the time have a need to finish series even if I don't like them. ACK!!!! Isn't there something like 7 sookie books??

I'm in military mode lately. I just finished Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell and now I'm reading A Captain's Duty by Richard Phillips. See what my husband has done to me.

Finished Prayers For Sale & really enjoyed it.

Now reading The Wednesday Sisters, which I'm enjoying also - especially because I've been reading it at the OKW pool every day!

I'm another reader who stopped reading the Sookie Stackhouse books after the first two. If I can find the rest for 50 cents at our local thrift store, then I'll continue to read them. Otherwise, I'm not going to waste my money on them. Too many other books to read!

I finished Killing Floor by Lee Child last night. I realized about a third of the way through that I had read it before. But, since it is such a good book, I decided to finish it instead of putting it down. This is the third book in a row that I've begun to read and realize that I have read it before.

So, I've begun a book that I know that is new to me. I started Crown of Swords by Robert Jordan this morning.

I'm on the waiting list for the next True Blood and are the Bones novels anything like the show?

ETA: anything novel wise like the tv show Leverage? I just like the caper aspect.

The Bones novels are not really very much like the television show. Brennan is very different, specifically.

Also, for me:

Bones television show ... better than ... Bones novels
True Blood television show ... better than ... True Blood novels

I think most folks who are in a position to have seen the television shows and the novels will agree with me about Bones. I think there are a good number of True Blood (novel) fans, though, that feel that novels are better.
