I'm glad I found the new thread. I was getting worried!

I finally finished Under the Dome. I really liked it and I thought the ending was fine. I don't think I could have handled another hundred pages though.

I read a poorly written romance to get some light and fluffy in. It was so bad, it's not worth mentioning the title.

Today I'm starting Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games. Can't wait!

I keep hearing about Under The Dome a lot here, I may have to read it even though I'm not a big Stephen King fan. A Half Price Books opened today here so maybe I could find it there.

Kinda OT, but has anyone read The Colorado Kid by Stephen King (coming this summer as a new television series on Syfy, under the name Haven)?

I'm reading the American Wife and think its pretty good so far.

During power outages last month the only book I had in the house that I hadnt read was Steven Kings The Long Walk - facinating and horifying at the same time.

I too am glad that this thread was resurrected. I found some of my all-time favorite books on the last thread. I have started a cult following among my co-workers with the Celia Rivenbark and Jen Lancaster books. I can't read them in public though because I laugh WAY too hard and people stare! ;)

I'm looking forward to hearing about lots of new favorites!

I picked up The Street Lawyer by Grisham at the library this weekend and I'm about 1/2 way through it.

I'll have to look those two authors up. I can really need a good laugh sometimes.

Over the weekend I read Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult, which was just okay (I'm not much of a fan of her work though, so if you are, you'd probably like it more) and the 1st Black Dagger Brotherhood book, Dark Lover by J.R. Ward, which was a fab light read (in fact, I went ahead and put the rest of the series in my bookswim queue).

Next in my pile is Not Buying It: My Year Without Shopping by Judith Levine.

I finished The Ultimate Gift in about 4 hours yesterday. All I could picture is my DS's great-uncle trying to teach him all of the life lessons that are taught in the book.

Also, I've been toying with the idea of writing motivational articles for The Catholic Light. Everything mentioned in this book was something that I had thought about writing in my articles.

Just plain good life lessons, written in a non-preachy way.

I gave my DS the book when I was finished with it and told him to read it as if his uncle was trying to teach these things to him. I told him if he liked it, he can come to my book club with me in April to discuss it.

Not yet, but based on this, I am adding it to my list, thank you! :thumbsup2

ETA:
Finished the House of Night series up to book 6 ~ waiting for book 7 to come out in April. Actually enjoying the series quite a bit now!

Currently reading Midnight Alley (book 3 in the Morganville Vampires series). Not too bad ~ they are quick reads and a great way to pass the time in the school parking lot while I wait for the kids to come out, LOL. ;)

During power outages last month the only book I had in the house that I hadnt read was Steven Kings The Long Walk - facinating and horifying at the same time.

OMG, I read this years ago...it was mesmerizing.

I just finished My Sister's Keeper. I've been listening to the audiobook and probably shouldn't have been listening to it on my way to work this morning. I was not prepared to show up to the office with my mascara running down my face. :sad1:

I am currently reading "The Wrecker" by Clive Cussler and Justin Scott. I am not superbly impressed, its kind of slow-going. This surprises me, as I usually enjoy Cussler. :confused3 Maybe I don't like the influence of whoever Justin Scott is??

I just finished "The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie; A Flavia DeLuce Mystery" by Alan Bradley. It was recommended to me either here or on another message board I frequent; and whoever recommended it, THANK YOU! I  loved  this book! Can't wait for the next one - I have it on hold at the library, waiting for it to come in.

I like Nora Roberts in general, but I LOVE these books. The first one is Vision In White and the second one is Bed of Roses.

The series is about a group of 4 childhood girlfriends who all grow up and open a wedding business together called Vows. Each woman runs a different segment of the business.

The first book is about the wedding photographer and the second one is about the florist. I think the third is the one about the wedding cake baker and the last one is about the wedding planner.

She used a variation of this theme in another of her series that I really enjoyed, "The Sign of Seven" trilogy. They are romance/suspense/supernatural, and the women in it all end up opening up a bookshop/bakery/knitting (I think) store. If you like Nora Roberts' supernatural books, these are really good, I recommend them.

I've read all the new Miss Julia books and the next one is out in case anyone reads them. They are some light hearted fun. :)

I finally finished The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan. I really, really enjoyed reading this book. Now I'm on to The Manning Brides by Debbie Macomber. While I enjoy some of her books, I'm finding it hard to really read this one. I think that it's switching from a really good book to a mediocre one that's causing the problem.

I just finished The Vanishing Point by Mary Sharratt. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

Finished The Manning Brides by Debbie Macomber. What a snoozer! Which really disappointed me. I'm a fan of hers and like some of her other books like the series about the knitting shop and the street series.

Next to read is Dear John by Nicholas Sparks. I'm not looking forward to reading it but thought I would give it a try. I'm not a big fan of his but did like The Companion.

I just finished Shelter Me by Juliette Fay. I can't tell you how much I loved this book. I wanted to call into work to finish reading it. I stayed up until 3 am. It has humor, heartbreak, warmth. I laughed out loud and I sobbed so hard I needed four tissues. I LOVED this book.
I immediately went online to find other books by this author, and I was crushed to find that this was her first book. What?!? How can a newbie author write characters so well that they suck you in and make you think about them long after you have finished reading the book? She's writing another one apparently, but not fast enough!
