I finished the first Sookie Stackhouse book and have moved onto the next one "Living Dead in Dallas". I am so glad I picked this series up I am really enjoying it.

I like Nora Roberts in general, but I LOVE these books. The first one is Vision In White and the second one is Bed of Roses.

The series is about a group of 4 childhood girlfriends who all grow up and open a wedding business together called Vows. Each woman runs a different segment of the business.

The first book is about the wedding photographer and the second one is about the florist. I think the third is the one about the wedding cake baker and the last one is about the wedding planner.

Sound like books I should check on. I used to LOVE Nora Roberts, but I read so many of her books I stopped a couple years ago because there didn't seem to be much left to read of hers.

Thanks for starting this thread again~its a place I come to several times a day!!!

I just started Big Girl by Danielle Steel

Reading the first one right now:goodvibes:goodvibes What a great easy read!!!

So, I'll still reading The Fires of Heaven by Robert Jordan. It's the 5th book of his Wheel of Time series. I'm loving it and can't hardly put it down.
It is the last truly great book in the series. Don't get me wrong... I've read the subsequent two million words, in the subsequent seven volumes of the series, and will read the final two books in the series, for sure, but The Fires of Heaven was the last great book in the series, and perhaps the best book in the series.

The good news is that Brandon Sanderson writes Robert Jordan books far better than Robert Jordan ever did. So while Books 6-11 were sometimes hard to get through, Book 12 was fantastic. Maybe in a few years, I might take back what I said in the previous paragraph, and include The Gathering Storm in the set of great books in the series.

I don't read Nora Roberts but I do read J. D. Robb. I have to say that they're going downhill, IMHO. I just finished Promises in Death. Bleh. Really kind of bleh.

By the way, I'm currently reading two books.

For a church class I'm taking, I'm reading Love and Death - My Journey through the Valley of the Shadow, by Forrest Church. He wrote the book during the time he was dying from inoperable esophageal cancer in 2008-2009, and contains his wonderful vision about "a life worth dying for".

I'm also reading The Swan Thieves, by Elizabeth Kostova. I've just started it, but it is as richly written as The Historian was, and it looks like it will be a very interesting read.

Thanks for starting this new thread! I panicked when I saw the other was closed! I depend on this thread for new books to read!

Currently I'm reading "Truth and Beauty" by Ann Patchett. It's the story of her friendship with Lucy Grealy, author of "Autobiography of a Face." Our book club read Lucy's book several months ago, and now we're reading Ann's book. I've really enjoyed both of them.

LOL - so did I!!! When this one gets close to 250 pages we'll have to make sure we just start a new thread with a link to it! :)

Wow! Twelve books so I have seven more to read. I'm looking forward to it. I thought that Book 4 wasn't as good as the previous ones and am loving Book 5. I hope that 6 - 11 are not as hard to get through as 4.

Thanks everyone! I hope the original thread OP doesn't mind.

I am still reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I am about 300 pages in (almost 900 total). The Scottish dialect is a bit hard to follow and I am finding it very slow. I am not a big fan of romance novels and Outlander seems closer to that genre than science fiction or suspense.

Yes,, it has a strong element of romance but there is so much more.....time travel and a great example of historical fiction. Don't think I would have ever picked up a book on Scottish history without the romance thrown in:rotfl::rotfl:

I am ADDICTED to the series!!!!!

Timeline by Michael Crichton. I've read it before but liked it well enough to read again. :)

Subscribing to the new thread. Due to the rave reviews on the old thread, I just started the Outlander. I hope to really dive into it over spring break.

Courage and Consequence by Karl Rove. Excellent book, well written. Interesting life from a early age.

ITA about this part of your post.... :duck: I downloaded this to my Kindle a couple months ago and got about half way and went on to other books. I figure I'll try again some other time and hope it gets better ;)

Has anyone read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, by Jamie Ford? I would like some opinions before I download it to my Kindle. Thank you Thank you

Glad to find the new thread!

My last book was Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, can't wait until the third book (Hunger Games series) comes out!! This one left you hanging...

Next on my pile is Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella, I love her books, they are always quick, easy reads.
