What are you putting in the Easter baskets this year?

Our DD is 19 months old, but she's getting a stuffed duck.. she likes them for some reason:confused3, and a bunch of Thumper books. Not to much, but i think she'll be happy. She'll only be un-happy about wearing a dress to church, she prefers shorts.:rotfl:

My son is allergic to chocolate (dairy and peanut allergy). This year he is getting some very expensive dairy free chocolate. He has never had a chocolate bunny in 8 years. He is also getting a Wii game and a few books.

We use the same baskets year after year too. My kids have very nice Disney ones that they leave out at night (like stockings at Christmas) for the bunny to hide and fill. When they wake up in the morning where they left their baskets is the first card of many sending them on a hunt through the house and at the end are their filled baskets.

They alos only get a basket. We don't get them anything, jsut the baskets. But it is getting tough. Last year several of their friends got "gift" gifts like new bikes, rollerblades, etc from "the bunny". My DD9 asked about it but I was able to distract her and she left it alone, but I bet by the time I am a grandparent Easter will be like Christmas. I love Christmas, but once a year is enough IMO.

We also reuse the same baskets year after year.
This year, all except the baby will get their new summer crocs in their baskets and new jibbitz in some eggs. The baby will get a dish set. They also get a $5 in an egg every year (usually saved for Disney). The oldest will also get a dachshund toy (she collects weiner dogs), the next two will each get a Star Wars action figure, next will probably get puppy in my pocket bunnies or littlest pet shop toy, and the baby will probably get a little people toy. And, each will get a tube of m&ms.
Candy and change will be in eggs covering the yard.

I always put some summer t's or shorts in my kids baskets. It is a nice space filler and it is something I am going to be buying anyway. They aren't always excited by it at first but when they wear it they are glad. This year I got my DD4 t's from Disney store ,4 for $12.00. 1 for basket the other 2 for her birthday in May. I also got her a pr of shorts, flip flops and sunglasses.

P.S. I forgot this year they are all getting Disney $ for our trip in May.

WE also always reuse our baskets!!

This is year is a little more expensive than usual.

We decided to get
dd (4)
a princess bike with princess helmet and pads
a chocolate bunny
a few plastic eggs with some candy and some with money (usually .50 to a $1 per egg)

ds (2)
a tricycle with cars helmet and pads
a chocolate bunny
a few plastic eggs with some candy and some with money (usually .50 to a $1 per egg)

Usually it's a smaller gift but we didn't want to do bikes for Christmas because it's to cold outside to ride, same pretty much with birthdays so it's Easter this year.

For DS6 and DS3..

reuse easter buckets from last year, grass and plastic eggs $0
MagicPen activity books x2 $5
Egg shaped chalk x 2 $4
Carrot shaped bubbles $1
Hot Wheels track (DS6) and Little People set (DS3) $33
Bag Jelly Beans $2
2 Hollow chocolate Bunnies with 'eyes' $2
1 box Peeps $1
1 box Little Debbie Easter Cakes $2
Mini M&Ms and Goldfish crackers to stuff plastic eggs $5
1 egg coloring kit (Star Wars) $3

That should do it. $60 for the baskets.
Aunt and Nana got additional toys so they are far from deprieved :)

Plus I buy a new polo shirts for pictures ($35) and host Easter Brunch after the egg hunt for 6 (groceries).

We don't go overboard for Easter, though DS6 wants the Dino fire Hot Wheels set - priced on Amazon for $130 - I don't think so - that's even out of Santa's budget lol.

Our Easters are big here and we love to fill the baskets up.

So far I only have a list and haven't bought anything. DH and I are planning to go out and shop together for them.

DD6:
DS game
summer outfit
flip flops
sports bottle
jump rope
sunglasses
book
cross necklace

plastic eggs will have hair pretties, stickers, and Littlest pet shop animals.

DD5:
Leapster game
flip flops
summer dress
sunglasses
Easter coloring book
cross necklace
sidewalk chalk
bubbles

The Disney Store had jumbo coloring books like 3x3 in Toy Story, Pooh and Mickey Mouse for $4.99. My kiddos are getting 2 Mickey ones.

I also got Pinocchio and Jungle Book dvds, 1 for each of them.

Other little things include bubbles, a sun hat, sidewalk chalk, outdoor play rake.

My 3 and 4yo I got the Disney mix stick mp3 players for under $10 each on ebay. I got the "music clips" that go with them for $1.00 each. They are always trying to take our ipods and mp3 players lol. I will throw in some candy also.

My 9yo I will do candy and maybe a borders GC so she can go get a new book. My 16yo candy and movie tickets. I may go to the disney store and get $5.00 in disney dollars for each of them..

I am not going crazy this year.. in the past I had always gotten good deals but it was to much stuff in them.

My DD8 is getting a book, pair of earings and very little candy, and that is it. This is the first year that I cut back, and you know what it feels really good!! I was suprised.

DD 5
Pink Mickey Mary Jane Crocs $16
earings from Claires $2 (8 pairs on clearance from valentines day)
Color Wonder Princess book free-(MIL gave it to me)
magnetic princess disney book $3
$21 total

DD 2 1/2
pink sparkly sleeping beauty crocs $24
bunny coloring books $2
easter tatoos $1
easter book $1
dress up jewelry $1 (again clearance at claires from V day
$29 total

I might add a few more little things like cute socks or panties.
I'll add some chocolate, peeps, and jelly beans.

I have always reused the kids' baskets. The kids are getting older now and I'm finding it a little harder to find things that aren't too expensive. I don't like to go overboard for Easter. I like to focus on the reason we celebrate, not the gifts.
Anyway...

DD10 and DS12 will each get: small chocolate bunny, assorted candy, travel game for our drive to the cruise port this summer, a small book from Shutterfly of a special parents/ child trip they each took when they were in 3rd grade. I'd always meant to make those books and just got around to it.

That's it.

My mom gave me my Easter basket from when I was a kid and I use it ever year for my DD. This year my DD is getting the following, it looks like a lot but I got the toys, DS game and DVD on sale, clearance and/or with coupons over the past year:

My little pony with Bunny Ears
High School Musical 3
Lamb Webkinz
Webkinz Pink T-shirt
Bratz Pony DS game
Duckie Pez
Starburst Jelly Bean Egg
Disney Fairies Candy Egg
M&M Egg
Bunny Face Ring Pop
Bunny Chocolate Money
Peeps
Bunny Marshmallow Pop

Can I ask where you got a didj game for $5? I too got the didj with coupon for 9.97 but every game I see is 29.95!

Thanks
Lori

Sure you can!;) The night that I went to the first walmart looking for a Didj, I was searching the clearance aisle and there was a Nick cartoon one for $10 that was perfect for my son. I had a $5 off coupon from online which made it $5. It was the only boyish game I saw, but they had a whole stack of Nancy Drew ones for $10. I just didn't have any girls.

The funny thing is that when I went to the walmart right down the road to look for another didj, that walmart still had the Nick cartoon game for $30. Go figure!!

Thanks for responding. I didn't see the game coupon. I was just at walmart today and they had the Nancy Drew one on the clearance rack but I price checked it and it still came to $30. Have you heard of anyone that has used these yet and if the kids liked them?

My brother and I had the same baskets all through our growing up years- my brother still has his. i think my Mom might still have mine. ;) She bought really nice baskets and its cool seeing photos of us in jammies when I was like 2 with the same basket I had when I was 15! We generally got candy (chocolate foil covered eggs, jelly beans, a choc bunny, peeps, etc) and a stuffed animal..

I did the same things for my kids. I bought them both Longaberger Easter baskets the years they were born and we use them every year. It is so fun to look back each year and see the same basket and how the things we fill it with have changed as well as how much the kids have grown in a year. My daughter is getting a HSM3 DVD with a stuffed bunny and candy and my son is getting a Jonas Bros. CD and some Boccugon (I can't spell this or play it. lol) and some candy.

Does anyone hide the dyed eggs? Our kids can't wait to get up and look for their dyed eggs that the Easter Bunny hid around the house. I wonder if anyone else does this too. My parents did it and I just carried on the tradition.
