What are you paying for your airfare?

Haven't bought airfare yet, but here's what's available:

Flying AirTran: DCA to MCO roundtrip $95 each way per person ($379.20 total for two people.)

We're on the fence about booking this because we are stumped about transportation to the airport. We're in Annapolis and DH doesn't feel like driving. Does anyone know how much a cab would cost? (We've only lived in Maryland a few years, and still feeling our way around..)

*BTW, I'm surprised how many people have booked airfare for October. Should we not be waiting until 3 months before our trip to buy? Any advice would be great....we haven't bought airfare in years, and we're out of the loop! :scared1:

I don't know what regular fares are out of that airport but I would book that yesterday!! For my family of four it would be less than 800!!!!
I was beyond lucky and got a coupon code to get flights with connections at ridiculous times for just over a thousand out of Buffalo.
We're looking for August now and I can't get it under 300 per person return.I would book that right now.

ETA)Do a google search for that airport and find out what an airport shuttle will cost and then call the cab company and get an estimate. They'll likely be close in price.

Right now my fiance and I are trying to decide if we should wait to book or not....

Our trip is set for 8/6-8/13 (a Monday to a Monday) and for the 2 of us to fly out of out of *** to DEN then to MCO it's $869 roundtrip! This does include 2 checked bags though...

I know everyone says you gotta pay what you're comfortable with, and I think I'd be okay with this, but what do you guys think? Should we wait or just go for it?! :confused3

We're about 107 days out from our honeymoon...So I don't know if waiting would be helpful or detrimental at this point.

Thanks for any advice! You guys and gals rock! :worship:

We were quoted over $2,000 round trip from Jet Blue for (2) people - coach.
Yes, 2k. They were refundable tickets. If u want non-ref. it was over $1100+.
We decided we would rent a car w/ unl mileage and drive down 17 hrs.

Now we have to get excited to actually do it. Help!

We paid $148 on United for May 17-May 23 out of San Antonio, not too bad considering they are back to over $300.

Looking at $274/pp roundtrip on United out of SYR to MCO for 8/25 to 9/1. These are not direct flights however, and the layovers are quite long so I've been waiting this out. Our direct flights (JetBlue) are over $500/pp:( So the free baggage doesn't help even things out there!

I am only going to wait until Tues/Weds of this week and go ahead and book something (not the direct flights). We can usually get flights on AirTran out of ROC for about $89 one-way during that time frame. I guess those days are gone! AirTran out of ROC has been really expensive since they bought Southwest.

Thanks for the tip. :thumbsup2 We are also considering flying out of BWI, which at the moment is $200 more than what we'd pay to fly from DCA. (Still Airtran.)

I did look into an airport shuttle and cab for DCA. Basically the $200 we'd save in airfare would go towards the transportation. So in the end we'd save nothing. And my DH doesn't want to drive the long distance.

For now I think we'll hold off and see if airfare out of BWI will go down. Long term parking is only $8 per day, and this airport is closer to us.

Does anyone know the airfare patterns for AirTran? When will they have to lowest airfare for October?

I hope someone can help you out....I just wanted to say my DH and I are originally from Colorado! Denver and Colorado Springs respectively. We flew out of DEN to MCO for honeymoon, back in 2003. Round trip was $600 (ish) total. I now that doesn't help you, but when you posted almost $900 I just almost had a heart attack! I can't believe airfare costs that much now!

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon! :cloud9:

Hope someone can help you out with your dilemma. :goodvibes

Well, I didn't even wait until Tuesday! After reading and posting to this thread, I ran my search again. It was $30 cheaper to come one day later, so I booked us at $242/pp R/T out of SYR. They aren't direct flights, but it's the best I could find. Another night in the resort won't cost anything as we're staying on DVC points. However, I just spent $66 on another night of the dining plan!:rotfl2: But, hey for the same price as coming home a day earlier, we get to stay a day longer!

Yay for Coloradans! I'd miss Pikes Peak too much if I were in Maryland, but I bet it is a wonderful place as well! :) I need to visit the east coast more often and really explore it. I seem to only migrate towards WDW every time... :rotfl:

Thank you for sharing your insight on how much you paid for them back then.:flower3: It does seem like a lot now, but maybe that's just how it is these days with the gas prices being so high and all.

I'm just curious if I should wait for the 3-month mark....Or if that's a myth that they drop when being that close to the departure date. Anyone still do that, wait till the 3-month mark before buying airfare?

OMG!!! I would have booked that without even thinking twice!!!! I'd give anything to see those fares for my airport (PHL) to MCO!!!!

If its on Southwest I would book. If the price goes down you can use the credit for another trip. Your going on your honeymoon, so I dont know how comfortable I would be to wait if I see a better price. Not sure I would chance it or not. However, gas prices are on the decline so you may see a price drop at the 90 day, or 60 day mark. But, if you see it drop a little, I would book. Its all a game, but only you can decide how much you are willing to play and chance it since you are planning a honeymoon. Whatever you decide, good luck!!!

I would keep checking. Just 2 weeks ago, my return flight that I paid $118 for was up to over $400 !!!! :scared1: That price lasted a few days, and now this week, its down to $138. It's only $20 more than I paid. I don't know where you are flying from, but that seems awfully high for Jet Blue. I would keep checking. Not unless you are flying within the next couple of weeks. That could be why the cost is so high. But if you are a couple of months out, I would keep checking before making plans to drive. But if you must drive I wish you MILES of SMILES!!! Make the best of it...be safe and have a WONDERFUL time!!!

You may also be able to get that rate on JetBlue, if you want the nifty TVs and free snacks. ;) We are also DCA to MCO, JetBlue, $95 per person each way (November 6-13). We are a little over an hour west of DC so we're heading down the night before to stay in a hotel and paying a Park and Fly rate, and taking a hotel shuttle to DCA. It's still cheaper than paying for parking at DCA.

I really wish JetBlue still flew out of Dulles. *pout*

Well, my fare from BDL was holding steady at 160 pp each way. Tonight it went down to 130.00 so I grabbed it.

We are flying Southwest in mid May from BHM to MCO - staying Saturday to Saturday - round trip for the 3 of us was $410 and they are both non-stop flights (which is great since we are traveling with a 3 year old :))

I'm paid $142 round trip from Greenville/Spartanburg, SC to Orlando. Direct flights with Southwest. :thumbsup2

Thanks TamaraQT for your advice! ...I ended up finding great flight times on United with an okay price but I waited a day too long and now they're too high. You're right, playing the waiting game is dangerous, especially with a trip as big as this. Looks like Frontier's holding the best deal now.

if we were paying it would be $197 pp R/T non-stop from BDL (Hartford CT) to MCO. This is down from an original price of $228. Saved $31 each on the return flight! Love SWA and ALWAYS watch your flights.

Going end of May out of Indy. Originally got rates at $307.60 pp. Prices went down to $248.60 pp about 2 weeks later so I have a credit now. They are nonstop.

We booked Jet Blue for October flights out of Newark, NJ for $231 per person. (Flight is Sat am returning following Sun afternoon). I have been watching this flight and not only has price not come down, it is now $579 per person!!! OUCH!!!!Nearly $1400 more for 4 people!

$ 220.40 with JetBlue with the first bag Free :cloud9: out of EWR their is nothing beter than free TV and Blue chips :woohoo: I miss the the good old days where I paid $ 150.00 round trip with no bag fess out NYC
