That is if you are staying home or hosting a party. We are going to my sister's house per our usual NYE/Bday party for my BIL. I usually take some sort of dip and rye bread, but this year I would like some ideas for an appetizer or something good to munch on. Im thinking something salty/cheesy, not something sweet although those ideas are welcome too. So what do you usually do?

I do an appetizer style New Year's eve and am going to make:
- spinach dip for bread and fresh veggies
- creamy sweet dip for fresh fruit
- roasted edamame
- Feta cheese foldovers - you might like these. They are easy and delicious! salty and cheesy.
- Beefy Biscuit Cups with vegetarian meat since I am a vegetarian. This one's a new recipe but the rest are tried and true.

I also do appetizers. It's just for us, so the kids think it's fun to eat "junk" for dinner. I'm making pepperoni bread, steak bread, pizza bread, popcorn chicken (this one's frozen), pigs in a blanket, onion rings and potato skins with cheese and bacon.

Would love some of your recipes. How hard are your onion rings to make?

I'm going to a friends ski house. I'm bringing buffalo chicken dip and spinach dip:thumbsup2

Those onion rings look so good I think I will add them to my menu. Thanks

Reservations LOL!! We go with our best friends every year to a Japanese restaurant (like Teppan Edo) - tradition!

I make an appetizer called "Crabbies" (No...not that kind!)

Three small cans crab meat, drained
One 16-oz. jar regular CheezWhiz
Two packs English muffins, split

Put crab meat and CheezWhiz in a bowl, and add 1/3 C mayonnaise. Add salt, pepper, and Lowry's Seasoning Salt. A dash of Worcestershire sauce. Use hand-mixer to blend. Should be fairly smooth, but not overly. Spread mixture on English muffin halves. Quarter each half and place on foil sheet, and cover with foil. I usually do about five of these. FREEZE. Before serving, remove quarters and place on baking sheet. BROIL for a few minutes until top is browned. I know it sounds gross, but they are really yummy! Best served right out of the broiler.

Large pineapple chunks wrapped in bacon on the grill. Melts in your mouth!

Please share your buffalo dip recipe, please. Thanks!

My pleasure!!

I boil 2 chicken breasts(I use the frozen individually wrapped ones from BJ's) and shred them. Then mix 1 block of cream cheese and 1 cup of Blue Cheese dressing and 1/2 to 1 cup of Franks' red Hot. We like spicy so I use a full cup. Mix it all together and bake for about 40 minutes until it's hot and bubbly. Serve with Scoops. I have also made it with coked shrimp for my vegetarian SIL.

Thanks for the recipe. I needed one more item, so the buffalo dip it will be.

My menu:
Jalapeno popper dip
Drunk Dawgs
Buffalo Dip
Steamed shrimp
olives, carrots, celery, cheese tray
Chocolate chip cheese ball (ok..I don't like this one but my girls do)
Rosa Regale for me
Sparkling juice for the teens

Its just me and my fam for NYE and we make our "h'oer-dervies" :goodvibes

We take Pillsbury crescent rolls and lay the pack of them out flat and line up pepperoni and mozzerella, then roll it very carefully into what looks like a log. Then we cut it off so they are little circles, and we bake 'em and eat and eat and eat while we play Tripoly or Monopoly or whatever :goodvibes

I'm hoping that I can get two fresh crabs tomorrow. The weather has been good, so they should be available.

I may peruse the frozen section for different appetizers. DH & I aren't going anywhere Thursday or Friday. We have plenty of Domain Chandon sparkling wine.

Having my parents over and having salad, sourdough bread, and cracked crab.

DH and i are going to his parents house, a lot of his family usually goes, but i told him this year i kind of want to spend the ACTUAL midnight thing with just him and me. we keep saying every year we're gonna do it, and every year it never happens. i think this year we're going to finally do it.

but every year we go to his parents and we usually bring clams and we steam them there. i LOOOOOVE clams!!

We usually have a small gathering at my house but with the all the snow that is being predicted we are moving it to my Grandma's house so she does not have to go out in it.

Our menu is
Shrimp Cocktail
Pizza Dip with bread
Musk-Ox Stew (Beef, beer and bacon yum)
Buttered noodles
Small ceasar salad

and something for dessert not sure what yet.
