What are you making for Christmas dessert?

We don't do the traditional desserts at the holidays (mainly because we want to make sure to have a dessert our kids will eat). For dessert on Thanksgiving I made a dessert called Dessert Rosa and I got the receipe from Carrabba's Restaurant.

But I just don't know what to make for Christmas. I was thinking about baked apples because my kids love the apple filling from apple pies but they can't stand the crust :rotfl:. There's just one problem, I don't know how to make them.

So, I thought I would ask all of you what you will be making for dessert.

TIA

I'm thinking of making a mandarin orange Bavarian Cream. It's better with strawberry but DH can't eat strawberries. Either that or a chocolate mousse.

I'm making a candy tray - will have chocolate truffles & choc dipped pretzels & oreo balls & probably one other thing - there's a common theme - CHOCOLATE! :rotfl:

I have made pnutbutter pie in years past - my kiddos love it -

We just do homemade cookies for Christmas dessert. Everyone makes some and there are a ton of different kinds. I also make truffles and toffee. This is the only holiday that we don't have an elaborate special dessert.

How about just making the apple pie filling and baking it in a dish like an apple cobbler? That would be good! My sister is making her famous apple pies for Christmas dessert. Usually she only makes them at Thanksgiving but she has some extra time off before Christmas this year. We'll also have Christmas cookes galore!

I just ordered a Buche de Noel from this super awesome french bakery across the street from my job. This place can make dirt taste fantastic, lol. It's very traditional and so so yummy.

I think I'm going to make a Peanut Butter Cheesecake-Chocolate Mousse-Brownie Trifle.

I'm not a fan of pies and that's all we had at my mom's house for Thanksgiving.

I'm planning on carrot cake, but I may change my mind after reading what everyone else is having! ;)

I am making Gingerbread Cheesecake Squares this year. The recipe is on the back of a mix for gingerbread and it sounds so good.

For Christmas, I usually make a lot of different kinds of candies and treats including peppermint bark, many differet kinds of petite fours, chocolate fudge, peanut butter fudge, snickerdoodles, gingerbread people and divinity. Anything left over after I give them out to people I know is brought to Christmas dinner at home.

My grandma also makes some kind of cobbler... depending upon what kind of substance he froze for it when it was in season. I think this year it's blackberry. She usually make homemade ice cream to go with the cobbler.

I honestly don't know. I want to make a Red Velvet Cake, although most of my family is more into pie. I will probably make a couple of pies too, just for the heck of it.

I'm going to make assorted truffles (oreo and chocolate-- super easy), possibly a triffle of sorts, and cupcakes that look like christmas snowglobes for the children.

Sweet potato pie. Okay we have for every occasion in the South. LOL:lmao:

Do you have a recipe for the cupcakes that look like snowglobes? That sounds great and I bet my kids would love them!!

We don't do anything extravagant. So far I've made chocolate walnut fudge and 7 layer magic bars. Next week I will also make chocolate covered strawberry cookies. My mom always make recee's (peanut butter bottom with chocolate on top) I don't know what my brother is making. But usually we end up with all kinds of cookies/candy/treats. MMMMM

Thanks so much for the great ideas everyone! Keep them coming and maybe I can use some next year too :lmao:.
