If you have the dance mats that plug in they will not work with the wii u as they did away with the port even on the current wii they are selling. Also I saw a new u draw with a different design which makes me think the old one won't work.
I am thinking about Just Dance Disney- just wanting to know if the dances are too easy for ages 11 and 14. Other than that I didn't see anything new yet that I thought we would want. I see there is Brave, but we tend not to like the games based on a movie, they aren't fun for long.
We have a charger and it's great, so if you don't have one, that's something to consider. Never have to worry about batteries. I couldn't tell you the brand, we probably got it on Amazon. I'm also happy we have 4 controllers and 4 nunchuks.
Wii Party was only $14.99 on Amazon the other day, that's a great game if you don't have it already. Another game that isn't new but for us is the best ever is Go Vacation. It has so much to it if you just take the time to explore (and check the internet for tips on treasure chest, great performances, etc. on it).
My kids are getting the Wii U for Christmas. Put it on layaway at Wal-Mart about a month ago, even though it's not released until the 18th...couldn't turn down that deal!
All the Wii controllers and games are compatible with Wii U, according to my gamer DH!
We did the same thing. Pre-ordered the Deluxe bundle and put it on layaway. That way we could pay for it in chunks since we couldn't get it until it comes out anyway.
Gaming is big in our house. Wii, PS3, PS Vita, 2 DS, 3 Kindle Fires, iPhones. Craziness. We'll be getting rid of the regular Wii once the Wii U comes in.

You should! There are 4 resorts to visit, plus a villa grounds. You can explore freely over the vast area, redesign and decorate your villa, play like 50 sports games, find treasure chests, accomplish great performances, have photos taken, discover new things, it goes on and on. It's a little like going to WDW! In fact, DD11 will put her Mii on the train in the Mountain Resort and ride it round and round because the announcer voice makes her feel like she is on a WDW bus.
The more you wander around, the more fun stuff you find. Like you may find out that when you're riding your horse, you can jump up on top of the train and ride the train (on top your horse) while it's moving. Or you may come across some polar bears! You can have a dog or a buddy Mii follow you around. The buddy Miis can be funny. Sometimes we don't even play the sports, we just run around on the different transportation. The records menu will tell you some of the things to accomplish, but the great performances you figure out on accident, or read about on the internet.
Sorry for the big review, but I think it's amazing! YMMV!
Yes, Yes, a huge thumbs up for Go Vacation! Amazing how much is packed into that one game...when I was playing it with my boys I, as usual, was having a hard time manuvering & we were all down on the floor from laughing so hard! Watch for a deal, I know I got mine on amazon in December sometime for a great price! The Hasbro Game nights are a fun, low-key twist on the original games, we love those! My DS10 is obsessed with the Just Dance games & we just bought 4, lots of fun! Gonna have to pick up the Disney version for sure!
so I went to Game stop and bought the last Go Vacation not on sale it was $19.99 new and also got I-Spy combo pack for $14.00 i'm very happy, thank you all as always for your wonderful suggestions and will also buy Family Game night and Wii Party, i'm now looking for a quad charger and an additional controller
