What are you getting DH for Christmas?

It is always so hard to find a gift for my DH. If he wants something he usually goes out and buys it for himself. He has a Kindle, iPad mini and MacBook Pro. He works hard and commutes 2 hrs a day. It has been a busy and difficult fall. His dad has been in an out of the hospital since July and is now home under hospice care. I'd like to get him something that will help him relax and take his mind off things. Any ideas would be appreciated.

My DH likes anything to do with video games to "take his mind off things."

Maybe some new game apps for his ipad or a handheld video game thing?

Or a gift card for a few beers and dinner with the guys

I wish I had ideas for you. Mine is getting a Kindle and a case for it and that is probably it other than a few stocking stuffer things.

How about a spa day? Would that be something he would do?
My DH loves a nice massage and spending time in the steam rooms. Lots of spas have men packages that include massages, a shave etc.

My DH is getting very nice bottle of scotch with a fancy ice mold that keeps the scotch from getting watered down. He is getting a couple video games and some little things that he won't buy for himself like pistachios LOL and jelly bellys.

He would like a subwofer and pressure washer, but I'm not sure about those

DH and I are getting a special gift for the both of us this Christmas:
A Berkey water filtration system. :thumbsup2

We are not into techno stuff :lmao:

My DH LOVES massages too but I know plenty of guys that aren't into that.

My DH never spend money on himself and works very hard, since we don't have kids I like to treat him pretty big on Christmas. I'm thinking this year I will get him two good seats to that Blackhawks vs Penguins game at Soldier field. He's a Blackhawks fan but his all time favorite team is the Penguins.

That's one of my go to gifts for him are sports tickets to games he'd enjoy... Cubs vs Sox, Heat vs Bulls, etc.

Sometimes video game stuff but he's not crazy into them. And never clothes or anything like that any more, once I realized he never buys fun stuff for himself I'm not going to buy him stuff he needs on holidays, anniversary or birthday.

DH and I always have a horrible time trying to figure out what to get each other at Christmas. If we need or want things through the year, we usually get them when the need or want arises (I never thought of ourselves at "instant gratification" people, but obviously that shoe fits!!! :rotfl:).

So this year, we decided to go stockings-only for us as far as traditional gifts go, and we have purchased two timeshares in Florida (one from him to me, one from me to him :) ). Our annual fees, which are due January 1st of each year, will be our Christmas gift to each other on a yearly basis. There's nothing we treasure more than our vacations in Orlando, so this was a perfect present.

We will still have the stockings to open on Christmas morning, plus our DS also buys us gifts (and we purchase him things, of course), so we don't have to forego the traditional present opening completely. For the stockings for each other, we have set a target spending limit of $100 each, so we should still be able to include a few nice things for that budget.

I am considering buying my DH snowshoes for Christmas. He got himself a gym membership earlier this year and has been very diligent about his exercise and I thought he might enjoy these. Maybe something to help your DH relieve some of that stress with some exercise??

Anyhow...that being said, I am batting a big fat ZERO for the gifts for DH for the past many Christmases.... most are still languishing in his closet, unused.....

Ticket 4 pack for a local hockey team (so he could invite his brothers and have a men's night)... complete with seats, food, etc.... NEVER USED.

Machine that converts older home movies to DVD (that he actually ASKED FOR).... NEVER USED (until I pulled it out and figured out how to use it!).

Homemade gift certificate to buy himself a satellite radio for his car (finally got smart and DID NOT buy the actual gift... it was more like an IOU).... YUP, you guessed it.... NEVER USED!!

Even small stuff.... like a new zip-up hoodie from Old Navy and pajamas.... still in the closet with the tags!

And the "make-your-own beer" kit that my brother got him last year.... has never even made it into the house! It has been in the garage since last Christmas!

I could go on, but I won't.... it is just too pathetic. The ONLY gift I can recall him actually USING over the past few years has been a gift certificate for a massage!

If he doesn't want something, I wish he would just RETURN IT!

Sorry.... rant over! And of course, now I'm second guessing my snowshoes idea!!!:rotfl: Massage certificate it is!!.....................P

DH and I decided to do a 3 day cruise on the Magic in January. That will be our gift to each other. :)

I'm getting DH the GoPro camera. Saw it at Costco for $229. He's going to be so excited!

One year I got him a Callaway Golf Driver, one year a GPS (when they first came out), one year an HP touchpad, one year an IPOD Touch. He loves sports stuff and electronics.

I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure what I'll actually get him. He needs a portable scanner to use when he's on Army Reserve duty and I've looked at those online and may get him one. He's mentioned having one of those power tools with interchangeable heads and I've asked my dad to look at them and let me know what's available at what price point.

I always pass along ideas for things like DVDs, audio books, shirts, etc, to my family. I sometimes buy him a new XBOX game for the kids to give him.

We're going to Disney at New Year's because I wanted to spend my birthday there, so I'm hoping to keep Christmas in check.

Some items I've given my husband over the years that he's really liked:
- Logitech programmable remote -- works great and he programmed it the same day he opened it
- GPS with lifetime maps
- atomic alarm clock for when he travels

I am getting DH a new car stereo with Bluetooth integration and touch screen. DH commutes and hour and a half each way and would love to be able to listen to his podcast or se his music apps.

I get DH whatever he puts on his Amazon Wishlist. DH gets me whatever I put on mine. :thumbsup2 Mischief managed!

Dh will be starting a new job in the new year, so I'll likely get him some new shirts/ties/pants. He needs new running shoes for coaching, and wants the new Batman game for the PS3. We weren't going to do gifts because this trip coming up is the big family gift, but the kids like to see us open something, and he needs/wants these things anyway. I might as well wrap them up for Christmas.:)

Dh is getting a touch screen moniter for his computer (he picked it out) and also a Nook which he knows about. Now for some surprise gifts.

DH is getting new Kindle Fire HDX 8" screen. He has Kindle Fire HD but it is 7" screen so we will give DS12 his old Kindle and he will get new one. He is also getting new shoes, underware, cover for his new truck.

Does he like sports? Get him tickets to his favorite team. Get him 2 tickets, and tell him to take a friend. I love sports, and my husband and I usually just go together to games, but it's also fun for him to do the sports with the guys thing.
