What are the odds?

We just decided yesterday to plan a trip Oct 26-Nov 2. We usually do a 1 BR, but a studio would be fine if that's what we can find. Availability is basically non existent at the moment. We can get 6 nights at SSR (or otherwise piece together those nights here and there), but there is nothing anywhere for Nov 1 & 2.

So our options are obviously wait list, pay out of pocket, or adjust our dates. We are meeting family there (family of five, so their hotel options are limited). We would LOVE to stay at Boardwalk. What are the odds of us successfully getting a reservation there for all or part of that week?!

We have done waitlist before, but it has been a long time. If it were just my family it would be no sweat. we'll stay wherever we can get and move around if need be. And we like SSR, so if we end up there most or all of the week, so be it. But we'd really like to figure out how to be at the same resort with the rest of our crew. Paying out of pocket is not really in the budget (and defeats the purpose in having DVC for us!)

Thoughts or suggestions on the best way to to approach waitlist? Seems like it may be better to waitlist in pieces rather than the whole week at once? Is that accurate? Thoughts on anywhere else to stay that isn't a budget killer for their 5 and that might be a more likely waitlist option for us? Or any other ideas or input from the experts??

That is half marathon weekend. People have been waitlisted for that weekend since January. I think your odds are slim to none, to be honest.

Your best bets for a waitlist for sleeping 5 would be a 1BR at OKW or AKV. And even that will be hard.

Half marathon didn't register for me at all (clearly!) Good to know. May just have to knock a couple of days off...

Just FYI, you need to book what you can at SSR now. I have been watching almost those exact dates for weeks, and there is VERY little movement. No studios have been opening at all. Not even at SSR.

Two days ago, availability for SSR opened up for October and November. Not sure if they released more rooms into inventory due to the refurb or what happened. But, those SSR villas are being booked up fast.

I have not seen any BWV studios or 1 bedrooms open up. You need to book what you can get and be happy to have a place to stay! I would not plan on anything but SSR, but you could be pleasantly surprised if a waitlist did fill.

I think fall/winter 2019 will be busier than a normal year, not only the normal things like the Half Marathon, halloween and Christmas parties, but add Galaxy's Edge, and Toy Story Land to the mix. I think the parks and resorts will be really busy until after the 50th anniversary celebration in 2021. The EPCOT refurbishment, the TRON coaster at MK...just a lot going on. No really slow season for two or three years.

Thanks, all. That is about what I expected (aside from missing the marathon part). We enjoy Saratoga and will be more than happy to stay there. But I figured it never hurts to ask the experts in case there's something I haven't thought of!

Got on this morning and there was a preferred 1 BR at SSR available for all 7 nights we wanted! Really thought we were going to just stay 6 and be happy about it. :-) (Glad the rest of the fam hasn't had time to buy airfare and book their rooms yet!) Now what to plan on our unexpected bonus day...
