what are the odds on an 11 month waitlist coming through?

We were a few days late registering at 11 months (newbies). We got 5 of the 7 nights we need. Problem is the other 2 are mid week and not even back to back.can I reasonably assume I have a good shot since its not until October? This is stressing me out.

You don't mention where you are attempting to say which can make all the difference. For example, securing those two days at either BCV or BWV during October is going to be difficult since those are the preferred resorts for the Food & Wine Festival. On the other hand, if you're attempting to get those two days at AKL, then your odds would improve. Either way, all you can do (and I assume you have) is put in your waitlist request and hope for the best. Best of luck!

Yes it depends but I just had this same thing happen for our Oct trip at BWV in Oct and it did come thru in days and I had a CM tell me(I had to add more days on reservation of a week so had to call everyday) that people walk their reservation...which means they book what they don't want to get what they do want weeks in advance and then cancel.. so I would say waitlist. I have plenty of points and the CM advised me to book something to be sure but then they cancel that and replace it with what you want... worked fine for me.

If you have requested a studio, either lake or standard, then it may be a challenge. There are only 16 lake view studios, the 17th is being used as a model, and 30 standard view studios.

It is not impossible, but I would certainly consider other resorts with all 7-nights available at the 7-month mark.

Your best bet since it is 2 nights is to do 2 separate waitlists. Single night waitlists have a better chance to be filled than getting 2 nights at the same time.

Agree. A VGF studio could be rather difficult. Due to the point needs, 1BR and up would likely be easier.

It is 2 waitlists (one each night). And it is 1BR Lake View, not a Studio.

I HATE changing hotel rooms. Even at Disney.

And of course, I can't book at exactly the 7m mark as we will be somewhere at sea in the Caribbean that day....

Eeek! That is certainly a tough waitlist. There are only 16 1-bedroom lake view villas (not counting the model). Perhaps one night will come through and you can do a split stay?

Just to let you know of something a CM once told me. Sometimes waitlists don't come through until just before 30 days out. That's because people who are "only" 99% sure they'll cancel don't get around to cancelling until just before that dreaded deadline for "holding points". I once had a waitlist that I'd been on since almost 11 months out, a surpise upgrade for DH (studio to 1 BR). At 31 days, it still hadn't come through, so I broke the news "At least I tried"-the next morning, there it was! Almost 10 months of stressing and the surprise blown.

Why are there so few studios and 1br at GF?

THe resort is small anyway and then has 6 GV and the rest of the rooms are divided with 50% being 2 bedrooms and 50% being lock-offs that can be a 2 bedroom or a combination of studio and 1 bedrooms. That just doesn't leave many of any of them.

The 7 month window may have openings this year (poly) people may switch from the GF to the POLY for studios. So keep an eye out from about 7 days before the 7 month window opens. Check numerous times daily and if you see an opening book it yourself. Don't wait for the waitlist to grab it, especially if you have multiple days waitlisted! Good luck!

Our first wait list, booked for the poly for 4 nights, at the 7 month mark...came through the next day... HURRAY

Are all he days available in a standard view?

We had a two bedroom standard view at GFVs in September and was so happy I didnt use the points for LV. I had a monorail view and pool to the right. Where else but in Disney can you wake up or walk out on your balcony and watch a monorail magically pass by!

Im like you, I would HATE to change rooms, and I would see if standard is available for all your nights and save you the stress.

I secured a lake view studio at VGF from December 17th through 24th right at my 11 month mark. I wanted a standard view to save points and waitlisted the whole same week, My wait list came through in 3 weeks of making the reservation. I really thought I had no chance but was hoping it could happen maybe when the Poly studios came online or towards the end when people might cancel their trips entirely. But it happened right away, well before Poly, so anything can happen. It's always worth a try.
