We debated buying resale or thru dvc...ultimately decided to go through resale.

I called MS today to ask a question regarding our points that are to be deposited (it's been 8 days since closing) and I was curious what the time frame was going to be and they said I needed to speak to my guide.

MS said my guides name was _____. The same one we were talking with when we considered buying thru DVC.

I felt kind of weird needing to talk to the same guide we decided not to go with initially. Is this the way it always works? or was it just our luck?

Ultimately, I explained to the person at MS my predicament and she helped me out.

Just curious......Thanks!

Yes if you were working with one before and decided to go with resale you will still be assignd that guide you had spoke to before.

It can take 7-10 days from closing for your contract to be set up in DVC's system and your points to be added to your account. If member admin is especially busy it could take longer. When I purchased my resale, admin was having computer problems so it took an extra two days for my contract to be entered. Check back at the 10-day mark and speak with Member Administration. If they haven't gotten to your contract by that time they can probably give you some idea how much longer it will take.

I know what you mean about it being awkward to speak with your guide after purchasing through the resale market. We ended up buying a resale after spending over an hour on the phone with our guide. I felt awkward the next time I spoke with her (7 months later) but I don't think she even remembered me. And since I was calling to purchase an add-on I don't think she minded at all how I became a member! I'm sure it often happens that someone a guide has spent time with ends up purchasing via resale. Any add ons you purchase in the future will be done through your guide so they know they will probably be selling you something at some point so it's in their best interest to be nice to you when you call.

The way it works is, if you have any conversion with a Guide, that's your Guide until they move on to another job or you officially request another Guide. The Guide isn't the people in the DVC kiosks that you see everywhere. The Guides either work at the preview centers or from home and they are the only people that are allowed to answer price questions about the DVC.
