What are the chances of Yacht Club Villas

The Beach Club Villas are ideal in locale and amenities. I only dislike the smaller sized room and lack of a second bathroom (1 br) -- or at least a second toilet. We made the mistake of staying at BLT first then moving there.

DVD has learned what works and the newer the resort, the better laid it is. If they built at Yacht Club, I'd be tempted to buy in there direct. It would be even better location (closer walk to boardwalk) and the rooms would surely be ideal in layout.

Rumor has it Polynesian is next. What do you think of the chances of adding at the YC? Would they still be allowed to use SAB?

While the thought is great, I don't see much room for such an expansion at YC, nor would they convert that much of the present resort to DVC. If they ever did, I would say SAB would still be available, just as it is at BCV.

I don't think they would build at YC because they already have BCV and they would be too similar and close together.

The new villas at GF don't have the extra bath that BLT has.

There's no room to build a wing? Not even for a small 50-unit branch?

I don't think there's a demand. BWV is huge and practically right next door. I'm not sure Stormalong Bay could take more capacity.

I believe it is inevitable. That will be my Epcot/DHS area home resort to compliment my AKV & VGF homes.

I think you're on the right track.

There is room to add something to YC much in the same space they put BCV on the other side. They could also go across the canal and have far more room. They would likely have to go the parking deck route to do much but there's no reason they couldn't. There is also room on the BC side for more units if the land is stable. There's also plenty of room across the road if they wanted. I'm sure some will come back with reasons they can't do X or Y but the reality is they have lots of options if they so chose.

I sure hope they don't do this. SAB is perfect as is, I wouldn't want it to get any more crowded than it already is. To the OP, why not purchase BCV instead?

When they build Poly DVC, YC will be the only deluxe resort without a DVC attatched to it. It seems likely that they may eventually do this but looking at Google Earth maps not sure where they could fit it in. BCV is relatively small and there is nowhere near enough space to do something similar.

Yeah, that's my dilemma. We have an off-property contract now that will outlive its usefulness in about 5 years. The plan is to sell it and buy someplace that we love to stay. So we are trying out the various locales to see what we like. BCV had so many great things but having a second bathroom would be ideal. If there's any chance a newer, better villa would be built nearby, we'd hold off for that. None of us truly know, but many here have educated guesses better than my own.

Except they took away the second bathroom in the 1BR's of the 2 latest resorts so I wouldn't count on it coming back.

When we first bought into DVC a few years back, I brought up the possibility of YCV but generally received the response that there wasn't enough room. Realizing now how much money Disney appears to be making selling DVC, I can't imagine that YC won't eventually have DVC rooms. As Dean mentioned, there is a lot of room nearby, just not in a terribly convenient spot. Another possibility he eluded to was adding on to BCV as there is land nearby. I have also wondered, though, if that land was unstable for building otherwise I think they would have made BCV larger from the get go. Adding on to BCV would be kind of a mess, though, as that would create either 2 different expiration dates or would require a BCV extension.

I think any new resorts in the Epcot area would sell "Poly" (ie ridiculously) fast. Most new buyers don't buy resale or the older resorts, they buy what Disney is pushing, and that location would be an easy sell.

Sooo . . . I guess the question is, how would this work? I recall reading that the number of points had to remain even for the life of the . . . something. Can they add points by adding rooms and would the point chart have to be exactly the same for the new wing as it is for the existing wing?

The YC is our favorite deluxe resort and I'd love to see villas there, and I do think they could make room for an expansion.

Looking at the satellite photo, it's pretty amazing to see how large and sprawling the buildings are. I can't identify something. Just north and west of the SAB pool is a large unidentified building extending into the parking lots. Looks semi-connected. Is it more rooms or is it a convention center?

The Dolphin has some convention center around there... but I think there is room between that and the parking. Hey-anything can happen. They took down the garden wing at the Contemporary, so anything goes!

If Disney wants to put one there, they will.

Back before AKV was announced all sorts of rumors were flying on here about what and where they would be announcing next. Many thought they would announce villas at the Contemporary and many on here argued that they'd never build at the CR area because there wasn't room and the ground wasn't stable enough.

Right after BLT was announced, I remember speculation on whether or not GF would ever have villas. Once again it was debated that there wasn't enough room and that Disney would never build there.

So time will tell and Disney will do whatever it wants to do.
