which value resort would you recommended regardless of having stayed there or not

I am 56 years old.

All Star Music is my favorite Disney owned hotel.

Music tends to be the quietest and most relaxing of all of the values.

Please see my info thread for the resons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

All Star Music is undergoing a refurbishment of all of the rooms and is slated to be completed by June 2007.

The Calypso and Jazz buildings are completed and the last I heard they are working on the Broadway Buildings.

DH and I stayed a refurbished room last Sept. (2006)

They were newly painted, new carpet, new funiture ,new bedding , new curved shower rod and curtains. We loved the new look!

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Have fun at Disney!

I voted POP Century, but I have to admit to some bias....I've never stayed onsite anywhere else! Loved POP to death though. Thinking of going back in April 08 to either POP or AllStar Music....up in the air at this point.

I voted for Pop. That's the only one I've stayed at. The busses were great and didn't share. I've never had a desire to stay at any of the All Stars, they just don't do anything for me.

I vote for POP. I have stayed at music and sports and like the better location of POP. Also The bus drives to all three all stars and POP only has one. I liked the food court better at POP. They are all nice though.

Pop has a lake with a walkway and trivia signs. It's fun walking along and reading them.
Pop's food court is pleasant with a lot of food choices. The shopping is also quite good.
Pop has only one bus. It doesn't stop at other resorts along the way.
The only drawback to Pop is the long walk from the parking lots if you are driving.
:thumbsup2

We love POP first then Movies. Pop is great! My kids beg to stay here. The resort is fun, colorful and very Disney!!

Bus rides are quite short from the ALL Stars according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses-CBR buses---POPbuses--PO buses--- Contemporary
MK 20 min---- 20 min-----25 min------10 min---20 min(mono)
Epcot 10 min-- 15 min-----20 min------10 min---15 min
MGM 10 min----12 min-----15 min------15 min---20min
AK 10 min------20min-------15 min----15 min---20 min
DTD 15 min----20 min------20 min-----15 min---35 min

It only takes 10 minutes to get to Epcot, MGM and AK from All Stars.
MK is 20 min away. That's the same amount of time it takes on the monorail from the Contemporary.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING

To me Bus Sharing at the All Stars is really a non issue.

In the mornings during Park opening hours each All Star usually has a dedicated bus.
During mid day it is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes it is all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back. Each of the All Stars usually has it's own dedicated bus back from the MK.
That is a big plus. It seems like the Music bus stop usually has the shortest of the three All Star bus lines.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

Ive stayed at POP and ASMo. In my opinion, POP is so much better. Its not that there is anything wrong with Movies, just needs a little sprucing up. I would go back. I think as far as values, it depends what you are looking for. Like Linda said, Music is usually quieter than the others. Time of travel can also make a difference-cheerleading competitions etc.

We stayed at the All Star Sports and liked it very much. Going again in November and we are going to try All Star Movies.

I voted for Pop. We have also stayed at ASMu. It was okay, but we really enjoyed Pop much better!

As we noted on last week's MousePlanetWatch news podcast, We've gotten a couple of reports about the "something special" that we were told to keep our eyes out for at All-Star Music and Yacht & Beach Club. At All-Star Music, we've heard that folks have found karaoke sessions for dance parties near the pools, a nightly movie by the Calypso pool and in increase of staff to make it easier for guests to find assistance. Meanwhile, reports from Yacht & Beach indicated a campfire with movies there, as well. It's possible that the other events seen at All-Star Music are also being presented at Yacht & Beach, but they haven't been confirmed yet.

From this thread:

we just returned yesterday from ASMU. We had a blast. The resort is nice and clean. The staff was great. We had two rooms in the Rock Inn building. A bit of a walk from the bus stop but enjoyed trip very much. The pool CMs held daily activities for the kids with nightly outside movies on a big portable screen .
