What are some Unique things to do?

We are still trying to finalize our days for our trip this May/June. We have gotten to the point that we don't spend all day in the parks anymore- usually just 4-5 hours at most here or there. We have started to gravitate more towards the special events/meals and small activities.

We currently have:

Mickey's Backyard Bar-B-Que
Putt Putt at two of the courses
Marshmallows and the outdoor movie at SS
Pirate Ship adventure for the kids at Caribbean

I also really would love to do the 2 hour fishing excursion at Yacht Club but not sure I'm ready to pay $230 for it.

Anyone have any other ideas for fun things to do?

Thank you! Do you have to get there early for Ye haw Bob? I have heard it's fun.

I keep telling my husband hoop de do always gets great reviews but I can't seem to get him to want to do it.

Bob usually does 2 shows a night...we usually go in off season so never to crowded. But I hear may is pretty low so you should be fine
Plan for a weekday to be safe though. Port orleans also has a ferry to Disney springs so you could make a night of it.

I wasn't sure about hoop De do either but me and husband loved it. My kids are too small to get it...so they were along for ride and didn't seem to mind. Does your hubby like beer? It's included in the price so maybe that can convince him the sangria is pretty good too and the show is pretty funny and the food is great.

YeeHa Bob is amazing, and yes get there early. It's a fairly small venue and fills up fast.
He is so worth it!

We usually stay port orleans and I think they have a little fishing activity on the side of the river. I have never done it...but might be worth looking into. They also have horse carriage rides.

You know, when it gets to the point that you are looking for new, unique, or special things to do, it might be a sign that you should try vacationing elsewhere.

Or maybe they are like me. We consider the entire resort and surrounding areas for vacation. Only spending a few days in the park each visit. I think people miss a lot when they never consider the little things (often free) to enjoy.

We have spent days mini golfing...lounging at the pools, walking trails at Fort wilderness etc.

We kind of consider Disney he base for some vacations...spend a few days at the park...go to the beach...go to the outlets...go to universal or Lego land. Etc.

Everyone vacations different. I said on another post I would lose my mind at the parks every single day. I don't get many vacations a year so I don't want to recover from mine. So we go full on parks a few days and then smell the roses the other days.

Thanks everyone.... @FlightlessDuck and @poppinspenguins I think it's a little of both.

My husband is getting a little over the parks- I personally love to be at MK for rope drop, take an afternoon break at at TS, and see if we can close the park down. My husband- not so much. We both really enjoy spending time at the resorts though. I just think it's nice to put little highlights in our stay... something to look forward to on vacation.

I will also say we planned a day around going to Discovery Cove and taking our kids for the first time followed by an afternoon at seaworld the next day... that is until we realized it would be $1000 for the day for the 4 of us. My boys are only 5 and 6 so we decided to wait a couple more years until they are both better swimmers and can fully participate. Not doing this felt like it left a big hole in the plans.

Not sure if they would have interest in Lego land or not...but I think Costco has pre sale tix pretty reasonable. Just an idea. Enjoy your trip.

• Carriage ride at POR/FQ
• Wagon/horse back ride at wilderness camp ground
• Pirate and pals cruise from Beach/Yatch club

I was so sad that the hot air balloon was closed when we were there in September! Hopefully it will be open during our December trip.

I can honestly say that the favorite day out of my last trip was our resort day. Not sprinting between attractions at the parks..not being in a crowd.. We played mini golf at Mickey's Winter Summerland after a breakfast at Ohana. Came back and spent the afternoon in the pool and probably 100 times down the volcano slide.. A quick meal and Dole Whip..and then roasting marshmallows, more pool time.. In room dining to watch the EWP and fireworks in our pjs. Seriously, my favorite day.

That sounds 10x better than a crowded mk. my kind of day.

I love mk but I think people get hung up on it as the be all end all of vacation and if it isn't perfect the Vacay is ruined.

Truth is there is so much more to disney.

I think kids need to destress on Disney Vaca too. There is a reason there are so many meltdowns...it's a lot to handle. Heat, crowds, lines, walking. Even adults get cranky and I see it all the time.

So many times you ask kids the favorite part of vacation and it is swimming or putt putting.

We always make a point to visit Tom sawyer island at mk. Many see it as a throwaway atteaction. But is a calm oasis to have kids run and play and the perfect spot for a picnic without sitting elbow to elbow.

Going trick -or-treating at the campsites while waiting for your hoop de do review is fun if you are at disney on halloween.

Not knowing where you have been and not been , that makes it harder to answer.
But in addition to the 4 main Disney parks, there are 2 Universal parks, 2 Sea world parks, a bunch of water parks, Legoland park, a Holy Land attraction, a whole bunch of dinner theatres.
Get in the car and tampa is not that far with more parks and attractions and St. Augustine on the east coast is beautiful.
There's lots of things to do beyond the 4 main Disney parks.

Yee haw Bob is a piano show at por. He is very energetic and talented and involves the audoence. Kids will enjoy but adults will love and recognizes songs. Some disney thrown in...inside jokes. Interactive. Give it a try

It's free but always nice to get a few drinks from the bar and enjoy.

Maybe try the Characters in Flight hot air balloon? I have heard but can't validate that if you go before 10:00am an adult ticket is $10 instead of $18?
My kids want to try the Chip n Dale campfire this year

Thanks everyone! I think I'm really going to try to push my husband to go to Yee Haw Bob- I have yet to hear anyone say anything bad about him. I see he usually starts his show at 8:30- would 7:30 be early enough?? Too early?? Nothing would annoy my husband more if I make him go to this and there are no seats left when we get there- LOL

When you go to Ft. W for the BBQ, make sure to go to the stables. The kids can even go on a pony ride. The stable and the horses are just amazing!

I would also suggest an evening on the Boardwalk. They have a few carnival games the kids can play (bring cash as they don't accept cc's or MB"s) and you can see the magicians and jugglers. You could also rent a surrey bike and ride around the Boardwalk.

Head over to the Poly for dinner or even a drink at Trader Sam's (the kids can go up until 8 pm), grab a Dole Whip and watch the fireworks.
