we are scheduled to go to disney April 12-18. The trip was just paid in full last week. Unfortunately a family emergency came up which may necessitate us postponing the trip until the summer. Being the trip has already been paid and we are less than 45 days away would they let us postpone the trip. I am just sick about this and do not want to lose all of that money? We do not have travel insurance Thanks for any advise

I'm not an expert, but I think for a package the cancellation fee for 2-44 days is only $200, you don't lose all of the money you paid. If you included non refundable airline tickets in your package, however, you would lose the money for those. You can call guest services for options on rescheduling, but in any case I don't think your out the full amount.

I just wanted to say that I'm really sorry you might have to cancel your trip :sad1:. I thought I've read that they will let you postpone it, but I don't have first-hand experience so I'm not sure how that would work. Maybe it's worth it to give them a call and just find out what your options are. Good luck to you.:goodvibes

If you are within 45 days on a package, it's a $200 cancellation fee.

If you don't cancel, and you just change the reservation to a different date at this point, then there is no cancellation fee, as long as you keep your reservation as a package. If it results in the package costing less, there might be a change fee.

I don't know what happens to airfare if it's part of the package. If you purchased airfare separately there would be change fees levied unless it's Southwest.

If you didn't have a package, things are different. room only reservations can be cancelled with no penalty up to 5 days before arrival (6 days if you booked online).

There is a change fee of $50 per package within 45 days. We paid it once.

Thank you everybody. It is a package however airfare was purchased separately. Going on Southwest....so no change fee but coming home on Jetblue....so we would have to pay. We would not be cancelling the package just changing it to a date in July. If I am counting correctly we are 43 days away from our trip. Does that mean we would lose the $200.00 deposit or can we pay the $50.00 fee and change reservation to July. Really did not want to go to Disney in July and we have been planning this trip for over a year.....but unfortunately this can't be helped.

Yes, you can change your dates and you will not incur the $200 cancellation fee. Rule of thumb with Disney, if you change dates and the new package is less than or the same as your original package, they will charge you the $50 change fee. If it's more, they will waive the change fee. Just call and let them know your circumstances.

If you move it to July there is a chance they won't even charge you $50. The only charge the fee if the package goes down in value. You should be fine. You can even move it and then cancel if need be in order to not lose any money. Sorry you have to postpone, hope your July trip is stress free.
