I have been toying with the idea for a few weeks to add a day to our upcoming October trip.
i was talking to DH about it and mentioned, instead of borrowing our 2011 points, I could try and rent some. But he said no cash out of pocket...but if I wanted to borrow- go right ahead.

Hooray! Right? Well I call them today and EVERY DVC is booked!
I wanted 1 night at BCV...but then I thought- hey WLV or AKV, etc etc would be fun too.... NOTHING.

UGH...

So the nice cast member did 2 waitlists for me- a studio at AK and a 1bdrm at BCV....
Should I call daily anyway? i mean, Im not picky- I would take a studio or a 1bedroom at any of the places...I can't believe they are all sold out.

Curse the Food & Wine Fest! LOL!

I also still need to buy airfare- but Im holding off on that anyway since Jetblue has not released their morning flights yet....

What are the odds something will come up in the next couple weeks?

Would you call daily?

You don't have anything to lose by calling, and so, if you're able to, do it. Did you try SSR as well? Because of their size, I suppose I would have waitlisted for SSR and OKW if I wanted only 1 night.

If you need to know before booking the airfare, then yes, I would call and check to see if something comes up.

I do agree with PP that I might WL SSR or OKW. If one of those comes in, then get on a WL for the other resorts. I think your chances for one of those to open up is better and once you have something, you can book your airfare and go from there (unless you don't want to stay there at all).

Good luck!!

oh, you mean book there and keep the waitlist? I hadnt thought of that. I own at OKW, and actually thats where I booked first until my 7 month window opened and I moved my ressie to BWV.
I really dont want to stay at either of those- but it does secure a place to sleep so I can book my airfare- THANKS I hadn't thought of that!
I really hope to get in 1 night at BC, but a night at a resort that we havent been too would be a fun option- it will be a no park day- just want to enjoy the pool and resort of somewhere we have not stayed. REALLY want to try stormalong bay.

do you think 1 night will come up at BC or WL or AK? studio or 1bd rm more likely?
Yep- I can call every day!

Whether it's true or not, most seem to think that 1 bedrooms are the last to go because for the most part they cost nearly double the price of studios and still only sleep 4. Now that the new resorts offer 1 bedrooms that sleep 5 with 2 baths, I think that changes things. I would "go" with the 1 bedroom waitlist and still call every day.

Oh and yes- he said even SSR and OKW are all booked- doesn't that seem odd? Not a single studio or 1 bedroom to be had in all of DVC land (WDW speaking of course)

I will try again tomorrow. and the day after that LOL

Are you arriving during the Columbus Day 3-day weekend? If so then it's not too surprising that DVC is fully booked.

Correct. That was my husband's idea. He is so focused on gaging the perfect temperature to be there for.....not too hot or humid, but still warm enough for the kids to swim- I have found FL to be full of weather surprises! But, thats when we are booked for, no going back now. Besides, I just purchased my MNSSHP tickets ;)

We're also adding one day to our trip and are waitlisted for okw for 10/7to 10/8.................hopefully something comes through.

Calling daily paid off for us this past Feb.

We wanted to stay at VWL and we were able to get 3 nights and had to be waitlisted for the other 2. Of course come two weeks before your trip the waitlist expires. So I was persistant and after my waitlist expired I called everyday. Once in the morning and once in the afternoon.
Wouldn't you know it the day before we left I called in the morning and there was nothing. I called in the afternoon and bingo they had the other two nights available.

If I were you I would call.

We have gone in Oct and had the temps be very uncomfortable! So be prepared that the temps could be very hot and very humid!
We have gone the past two years during the same time you will be there and OMG is was so humid both years. We had to leave the park by noon because it was so unbearable but we were able to return to the parks by late evening.

I agree to be prepared for any weather, but we were there October of 2008 and it was so pleasant. You just never know what the weather will be like. Also, people have different tolerances for heat and humidity. I love the people that post on this board and start it with, "I'm a big girl, so trips to Florida always have me soaking wet all day long."

I would haven't even bothered to write as I am not telling you anything you don't know, but you are getting me excited about our next trip, which will also be in a mild time of year in FL.

Definitely something to keep in mind if considering Halloween costumes for MNSSHP. That seems strange to me since I grew up in the midwest and we always worried that we'd have to wear coats over our costumes. But here in the south that just not the case.

I booked a few days for October back at the beginning of May, and SSR was the only resort that had a studio. I waitlisted for BWV and WL, but neither have come through yet.

I would go ahead and waitlist in hopes that it will come through, and then call MS every day. With F&W, Fall Breaks, and Columbus Day, though, I'm not counting on them, though.

Good luck! :thumbsup2

So, thanks to the tip of calling once in the morning and again in the afternoon.
I called this AM and nothing, called this afternoon and just as she was saying theres nothing she interupted herself and said a 1bedroom must have just been cancelled because there was an opening- so we are secured with a 1 bedroom at OKW for the time being.

If thats where we end up, thats fine, its our home resort, and they have a great little kids pool that our daughter loves. But I will keep calling about AK and BC because it would be so great to experience something new (savannah view) or stormalong bay.

But I can safely book airfair (as soon as Jet blue releases their full flight schedule) and know that we have a place to sleep. ;)

Congratulations on getting something so fast, and here's pdpixiedust:and good wishes that your waitlist comes through!
