We are looking at a resale that has points available and will expore in August. It would take a Month or two to get the paperwork done. What would the chances be of getting a ressie in June or July of this year? I wouldn't be able to book untill maybe April or so. What else could I do with the points as the banking deadline is passed?
Thanks

I think your chances of getting a
DVC reservation in June or July to be quite good if you are flexible regarding choice of resort and dates. Summer is actually easier to book than are some of the other "slower" times (considering park attendance as a measure of "slow").
You may also use the points for a non-DVC reservation (such as the choices available in the Disney Collection - which includes the
Disney Cruise Line and selected on-site WDW Hotels, the Adventurer's Collection and the Conceirge Collection). If you go that route, be sure to make your reservation before the end of May. You cannot both make a reservation AND stay at one of those options in the last two months of your use year.
You will also have some options in the Member's Getaway Program (exchanges via Interval International), but I am not experienced with that - others can provide detailed info on that if you are interested.
If you cannot use the points yourself, you could attempt to rent the points (subject to availability at the DVC resorts) or you could donate them to a charity such as "Give Kids the World").
With an August use year, the 50% banking deadline is the end of April and the 25% deadline is the end of May. If you are sure you will not use the points before August 1, 2004, you could ask the seller to bank at least a portion of the points now. That way, your "problem" would be minimized.
Best wishes -
