"What are grits?"

We usually eat them for breakfast with butter. But Grillades & Grits is another New Orleans tradition for dinner. A beef steak with gravy served over grits with cheese. Yuuum!

Oh yes!!

And the Coral Reef restaurant has a blackened catfish over cheesy grits entree that is to die for!!!

Big ole pile of grits w/butter, salt, pepper and scrambled eggs mixed in on your plate!!!!

I mix mine together like this but I also add about a teaspoon of apple jelly. YUMMY!!!!! I make this for breakfast several days a week.

While I prefer salt and butter only (well, I also love mixing mine with scrambled eggs) both my wife and my father prefer sweet grits.

They actually put sugar on them

Some of our 4-H students sold banzii trees or peanuts as "grit trees"

My brother likes his very soupy and only our grandmother made them good enough to please him

I love a breakfast casserole of grits, eggs, ground sausage, and cheese. YUMMMM!!!!

YUMMY!!! I love grits! With lots (and lots and lots etc...) of butter and salt. Sometimes with cheese, but that is usually only at Thanksgiving and Christmas lunch.

You can mix just about anything in grits and they will be good.

I have never had sweet grits, but I think I am scared to try them.

I live in St. Louis and it is very difficult to find grits. You have to go to southern Missouri or farther to see them on most menus. Even the nearest Bob Evans only serves them before 10 am. Why can't we eat grits any time of the day?!!!!

Cheese grits and fried catfish. This is the only way I eat cheese grits but I love plain grits with butter and salt.
