Help. Looking for some good apps to add to Ipad/Ipod for an upcoming trip to keep my preschooler busy during a plane ride. Any suggestions?

One that my daughter has thoroughly enjoyed is Read Me Stories. It starts them out with a small library of books, then adds a new one every day that they use the app. The books are read to them using a funny voice. You need wifi to download the new books, but once you've downloaded them, you're good to go!

My sons favorites are:

Easy Bake Oven
Lego (there's one called Lego 4+ and 2 other duplo ones he likes
Mickey Mouse Road Rally
Jake and the Neverland pirates
Disney Pix

We have a doodle one that has "stickers" that all make fun noises, too but can't remember the name.

If you check itunes you can sometimes find free shows to download (I have a couple Doc McStuffins ones and Chuck the truck). They might be giants has good podcasts for kids, too.

He actually stole my ipad on our last trip and I ended up being board out of my mind, lol.

Everything I mentioned was free.

Anything by TocaBoca!
My PlayHome
CakesHoliday (or any of the Maverick apps)
MakeMonster
Talking Tom (or Talking Carl...)
Buildo apps (like interactive sticker books- pretty cool and they were free yesterday, not sure about today)

I use appsgonefree and apptracker to find free apps for that age group daily. The only one I've paid for was My PlayHome (worth it!).

The Disneyland app is great. Very interactive.
Where's my water? is a favorite, and one of the few we have paid for.
We have lots of puzzle apps: kid's puzzles, Jigsaws free.
Cordy Sky
Awesome Eats
Curious George

My kids loved Cut the Rope. Um Num's is so cute. They also like Where's my Water. Neither of these are educational - just fun!

We have: Number Fun, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Umi Numbers, PBS Kids (this one is awesome bc she can actually watch tv shows with it), Phone4Kids, Curious George visits the zoo (this is a book/cartoon that we were able to get free at one time), Glow Draw, RacePenguin, and Cut the Rope..DD has several (obviously) on my phone, and they are great for keeping her entertained any time we have a long wait somewhere! Hope these help :)

MMathboard is very good, you can set the parameters very low and begin practicing math facts. I also like the zaner-bloser handwriting app to practice writing letters. I also grabbed a free flashcard app, and began using that for sight words (which is more Kindergarten, but it never hurts to start early).

Game wise my little ones have enjoyed cut the rope, monster ate my homework, the Disney where's my water one, and about a million others. Also one called puppet pals where they make their own animated type stories with voice overs.

Money Preschool Lunchbox, Math and When I Grow Up
EduKitty Preschool
Fancy Nancy Dress Up
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Jake and the Neverland Pirates (just posted about these and some other great, free Disney apps on my blog)

Mine loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Where's My Water, Umizoomi's, Angry Birds, PBS Kids, Bolt, Sunday Lawn, there are a few other learning apps that I can't think of off the top of my head.

We took a 5 hour drive (each way) with our 2 year old DD recently. I bought the 1st season of Dora off iTunes for about $15, and it was definitely worth it. There are also a some kid's TV shows for free in iTunes, including a few episodes of Sesame Street.
