WE have free DDP, but we only have 1 park day---what are super cool, neat, fun snacks for kids (like make your own pretzel, fill a bag of candy, etc.) that are not in the parks? Poly, Contemp., FtW, SSR, and DTD are all places we will be. Also, can you get ANY food item under $4 from ANY Disney store--like lollipops in merchandise stores as a snack on DDP? Thanks. Elaine

I am going off topic but I have to! I am so intrigued! Why only one park day? How long are you staying?

we are staying 3 days POP then 4 days SSR (last fling with the kids before starting school with free DDP). We go to Disney 1-2X a year. We have only done 1 character meal before and usually do marathon Disney days.
This trip, we are going to use the amenities, DVC kids' activities, Ft W movies, etc. (all the things we always say we are going to do and never get around to)--and eat at lots of (free) character meals at the various hotels.
Our plan is 1 day in parks-hopping, but we could do another (we have non-exp. tickets leftover) if we REALLY wanted to, and we might do a P&P party--haven't decided.
But my kids are just as happy to do the structured activities, pool, etc. and it's the end of a very busy, hectic summer---so more of a down-time trip--plus, only Mom (me) is going on this trip and with the ages of our kids 5, 5 and 10--that's about all I can manage--plus, if we go more days, it throws off our tickets with Dad for the next trip.
As I kid living in Fla., we went to Poly, Contemp, and Ft W quite a few times and never even went into the parks. I actually remember the hotel/pool/ FtW stuff better than the Disney park days.

Your plans sound so fun! We are staying at SSR of rthe first time, and I think we will definitely scale back the park visits to spend lots of time at the hotel. Have a great trip!
